Chapter 1894: Death Of Elder Pondwyn
The Toads accompanying the Toad Clan Leader surrounded him, their intentions clear, if the other Magical Beasts made a move, then they would retaliate.
Sir Astarot did not panic, asking in a calm voice, “Are you sure this is the path you wish to take?”
The Toad who questioned Elder Pondwyn about defiling the corpse of the previous Clan Leader wanted to speak, but kept quiet, knowing the Toad Clan Leader had the final say.
“I am not trying to be stubborn, but you know that it is against our Clan’s rules to allow others to punish those from our Clan for their actions.” The Toad Clan Leader explained. He also knew that adamantly keeping Elder Pondwyn from Sir Astarot and the other Clan Leaders would not only upset them, but also make him look suspicious, but he did not have a choice. If he agreed to let Sir Astarot take Elder Pondwyn away, others would start to doubt his credibility as the Clan Leader.
Hearing the Toad Clan Leader’s explanation, Sir Astarot chuckled and said, “I have no interest in passing out punishment to him. All I ask is for him to be dealt with right here and now.”
The Snake and Phoenix Clan Leaders nodded in approval to Sir Astarot’s words. All evidence points to Elder Pondwyn as the one working with the Gnomes and Necromancers, so they would naturally not watch the Toad Clan Leader leave with him.
The Toad Clan Leader was stuck in a dilemma, either he agreed to the request of Sir Astarot and the others, or he placed himself and his Clan in a position he did not want.
He stared at the group present and his gaze lingered on Grey’s body longer than usual, he eventually withdrew his gaze and turned to the Toads beside him.
Grey did the shy away from the Toad Clan Leader’s gaze, staring back at him. When the Toad Clan Leader took his gaze away from him and kept quiet, he could tell that it was communicating with the other Toads present.
About a minute went by in silence before the Toad Clan Leader finally spoke up.
“Since this case involves the Inner Court, I’ll do as you say and pass the judgement for his punishment here and now.”
The others could hear the discontent in the voice of the Toad Clan Leader, but they did not really care. As long as Elder Pondwyn is dealt with now, they would be satisfied.
The Toad Clan Leader snorted coldly and spat out the figure of Elder Pondwyn, still sealed by the brownish substance. The substance melted away and the figure of Elder Pondwyn appeared once again.
Before he could say a word, the Toad Clan Leader announced, “For working with the enemies and even defiling the corpse of the previous Clan Leader, your punishment is death by drowning.”
Elder Pondwyn’s eyes shrunk and he tried to escape, a futile effort. He could not escape when he was facing Grey who was not as strong as any of the figures present right now. With the exception of Grey and Elder Pondwyn, every other figure present was a Half God Plane expert.
Elder Pondwyn was easily neutralized, before a thick mud-like substance was used to cover his head. It started from his head before covering his entire body. He struggled as he soon ran out of air and was suffocating. Even a Half God Plane expert can be killed if their access to air was cut off, much less an old Ninth stage Sovereign who did not have any hopes of even becoming a Peak Sovereign.
Everyone watched as Elder Pondwyn struggled for air. They could see life slowly leaving his body as time went on. Before long, the struggling stopped, and other than some occasional twitching, Elder Pondwyn had stopped moving.
No one took a step from where they were standing, all silently watching. They all knew Elder Pondwyn did not have any chances of survival. The mud-like substance he was covered in is highly toxic, so even if he did not die by drowning, he would still be killed by the toxin he was wrapped in.
“Satisfied?” The Toad Clan Leader asked after Elder Pondwyn finally stopped twitching to confirm that he was dead.
Sir Astarot gave a cursory glance at the Toad Clan Leader before returning his gaze to the body of Elder Pondwyn, “His remains will be burnt as a lesson to others.”
The Toad Clan Leader wanted to refute, but the Snake and Phoenix Clan Leaders had already agreed to Sir Astarot’s words, and there was no way he could win against them.
Snorting coldly, he replied, “Do that yourself.”
Sir Astarot did not mind the attitude of the Toad Clan Leader, he was already used to his overbearing nature. This was the reason he did not come alone. Although he was stronger and well-respected by most of the Clan Leaders, the Toad Clan Leader is one of the few who could speak to him in such a manner.
Flames appeared and burnt the body of Elder Pondwyn to ash. Elder Pondwyn was dead from the Toad Clan Leader’s initial punishment, but Sir Astarot felt destroying the corpse was the right course of action.
The Snake and Phoenix Clan Leaders also had the same thought in mind, so they were pleased by Sir Astarot’s actions.
“He’s dead, what are you still doing in my territory?” The Toad Clan Leader did not want these people around his place. They had already forced him to execute Elder Pondwyn in their presence, he did not understand why they did not leave immediately Elder Pondwyn was confirmed dead.
Sir Astarot did not give the Toad Clan Leader a reply, musing to himself before saying to Grey and the Clan Leaders of the Phoenix and Snake Clans.
“Let’s go.”
The Toad Clan Leader watched them leave with a sour expression.
“Clean up his place and kill everyone working for him.” The Toad Clan Leader said to one of the Toads with him before leaping away.
