A Farmer's Journey To Immortality

Chapter 519: 2nd Order Qi Shell + 3rd Order Aether Wisp

Chapter 519: 2nd Order Qi Shell + 3rd Order Aether Wisp

Aksai looked directly at the second sect elder, his smile calm but full of meaning.

“You were all for bullying someone with numbers, right?” he asked with a chuckle. “Surely you wouldn’t mind if your opponent used the same tactics?”

He grinned as he said this, flashing a bright smile that didn’t quite reach his eyes.

“As for these puppets,” Aksai continued, tilting his head slightly, “you don’t need to know anything about them. They’re just a kind of backup. They’re not your real opponents.”

The lady sect elder narrowed her eyes. A strange feeling twisted in her gut, and she stepped forward slightly.

“What… Do you mean? You are not going to fight yourself? Do you think mere puppets are enough to deal with four bona fide Foundation Building Experts?

Even if they are more in numbers, in the end they are all puppets. And like all puppets, their limitations come from their master– that is you. That means we just have to target you while buying time dealing with those things.

Haah! Do you think we have never dealt with puppeteers before?” she asked, with false bravado even though there was a hint of uncertainty in her voice.

Aksai didn’t answer with words. He had gotten all the information he could from the four sect elders for the time being. He had decided that he would collect the rest after neutralizing them.

The time for the talk was over. He saw the meeting with the four sect elders as a good opportunity to test that new trump card he had recently gained. His neural link fabric needed data generated by real-life situations for various reasons. This was a good chance to gather such data.

As such, instead of verbally responding, he raised his hands. The tattoos on his skin—lines of strange glowing symbols—lit up all at once. They flared with power as a silvery light began to pour out of his body.

The runes activated the moment his Qi began to flow through them. His Qi reserves were drained rapidly, but his expression remained calm and focused. In front of him, the air rippled and twisted, and slowly, a translucent form began to appear.

It was large—almost the size of a small house. The beast that formed in front of them looked fierce, with long vines wrapping around its massive limbs and a body that shimmered with a silvery glow, like moonlight under the stars.

It was the body of the Verdant Elder.

The same beast Aksai had once fought and killed, now brought back in a different form. Though the beast’s body was only made of Qi, its presence was overwhelming.

It wasn’t as powerful as the real thing had been—Aksai was still limited by his Argent Body realm—but it was still enough to make the ground beneath their feet tremble faintly.

Even as a Qi-shell creation, the Verdant Elder held power at the late-stage 2nd Order. One could say he was stronger than his summoner himself to some extent.

And that wasn’t the end of it.

Aksai’s eyes glowed slightly as he focused again. A sudden burst of purple light appeared beside him, then shot forward and merged into the silvery body of the beast. The Aether Wisp—the soul of the Verdant Elder itself—was returning to its shell.

Wood-element vines began wrapping around the beast’s glowing form, grounding it, giving it shape and weight. Earth-element Spirit spells followed, hardening the frame.

The Verdant Elder opened his eyes. A strange intelligence burned behind them. Its gaze fell on the four sect elders, and it let out a roar that made the entire dome shake.

The entire process took only a few seconds. But to the sect elders, it felt like time had slowed. Each passing moment was filled with rising horror.

At first, they thought Aksai was just summoning another puppet. Maybe a stronger one than the rest, but still just another tool. But when the Spirit Core’s energy filled the air, and they felt the force behind the beast’s presence, their faces turned pale.

“A… 3rd Order demon beast…” one of them muttered under his breath.

No one corrected him. No one spoke.

Because in front of them stood a creature that should not have been summoned by a Foundation Building Expert. What kind of puppeteering was this? What kind of summoning was this?

Aksai had basically combined the powers of his Qi and Aether cultivation paths into one form by summoning the Verdant Elder in a new form—blending the original soul of the Verdant Elder into a Qi-shell body, strengthening it with wood and earth elements, and giving it a real form.

One had to remember that Aksai still had access to the Verdant Elder’s real body that had been turned into Qi Shell. However, it could not be used at this point because his Qi Cultivation was not high enough, preventing it from summoning it outside from the Qi Shell.

Thus, Aksai was forced to summon the weakened version of the Verdant Elder.

Even though the Qi behind the beast was limited to the Argent Body realm, the pressure it gave off was real. Heavy. Almost crushing. After all, except for the 2nd Order form, the demon beast had access to the 3rd Order Spirit spells.

His soul that had been turned into Aether Wisp was also baptized by the 3rd Order Spirit cultivation trial. As such, the soul gave off the presence of a 3rd Order demon beast as well.

It wasn’t a full 3rd Order beast. But it was close. Too close.

A half-step 3rd Order being stood between them and Aksai at this point, growling low, eyes locked onto its targets.

Thanks to the mental connection Aksai shared with his Aether Wisp, the Verdant Elder knew exactly what he needed to do without Aksai having to instruct him verbally.

None of the sect elders could bring themselves to take a step forward.

Their plan to intimidate Aksai using various methods had just fallen apart completely.

Mark Twain was born and died with Halley’s Comet.

He predicted it: “I came in with Halley’s Comet in 1835. It is coming again next year (1910), and I expect to go out with it.” He did.
