Splash!
A figure hurled downwards, and water erupted in all directions.
A biting cold pierced Delilah in all directions as she felt the water embrace her body from all sides. Feeling subtle convulsions coming from her arm, Delilah’s expressionless face showed signs of change.
‘…What is happening?’
It all happened so suddenly and unexpectedly that she found herself unable to comprehend the situation.
It was right as she touched the blood.
Something within her stirred, and she found her body freezing up.
It made absolutely no sense to her, and even now, she was struggling to take control of her body as she continued to feel the strange blood boiling sensation.
…It was almost as if her own blood was alive, stirring with some sort of weird energy that she couldn’t control.
She wanted to figure out more about the blood, but she knew this wasn’t the time.
Ignoring the pain and the stiffening sensation, Delilah’s eyes flared open as she looked up in the direction of the massive figure and shot out from the water.
Splash!
A series of attacks immediately shot in her direction.
She tried to dodge, but the moment she moved, it felt as though her whole body was submerged in an extremely viscous substance, slowing down her movements.
“…..!”
This little delay was all Xa’hurl needed in order to get its attacks to land on her as wounds began to appear on Delilah’s body as she stumbled back.
Blood began to seep out from the wounds.
Thankfully, they were anything but deep. Although Delilah’s body looked delicate, it was extremely sturdy.
Despite the pain, Delilah didn’t make a single sound as she quickly recovered and locked eyes with the distant creature. It was also then that she managed to get a proper look at it.
She struggled to comprehend the figure, but if she had to describe it, it was like gazing into a monstrous jellyfish, its body composed entirely of countless eyes, all staring directly into her soul.
Looking down, she saw a mist starting to form beneath it, and she knew that she didn’t have much time left. Looking around, her gaze fell on the massive wound that she had left on its body, and the world around her turned dark again.
With the domain no longer active, she had a harder time trying to defend against the monster’s attacks.
She planned on activating her domain again in order to gain the upper hand once more.
But—
“…..!”
Delilah’s actions stopped mid-way as her blood boiled again.
This time, it was a lot more powerful than before, and she froze mid-air.
An opening appeared, and Xa’hurl didn’t miss it, sending several tentacles shooting in her direction.
Seeing the sudden attacks, Delilah’s pupils shrank.
BANG!
She tried to react, but alas… it was too late as the attack eventually managed to land on her body, sending her crashing against the water once more.
Splash!
A large geyser of water erupted once more as crimson water splashed in the air.
“This doesn’t look too good.”
Staring at the scene from a distance, the Saint’s eyes squinted. He had noticed the abnormalities with that woman during the fight, and while he did want to help, he couldn’t.
Turning around and seeing the numerous people on the ship, he understood that if he were to leave to help her, everyone would die from the aftermath of their attacks. He even thought about sending them away, but that was easier said than done.
The Saint could feel Xa’hurl’s attention was locked in their direction.
…And that was even in spite of the fight that was currently happening.
This was a troublesome situation.
“A troublesome situation indee—hm?”
Sensing something, the Saint suddenly raised his brow as a figure shot out from the water and appeared right behind Xa’hurl. She was incredibly fast, taking the Saint and the beast aback.
How in the world did she still have so much energy?
With both pupils pitch black, Delilah extended her hand, and a strange, dark pulse rippled out from the center of her open palm. It covered the entire surroundings, including Xa’hurl.
Her face went pale the moment the strange pulse surged out, her body trembling weakly, yet at the same time, she turned her head to face the Saint directly.
“Ah….”
As if sensing her intent, the Saint raised his hand, and a massive spear of light formed above his palm.
“…I guess it’s my turn.”
A blinding radiance flooded the surroundings, the very air rippling beneath the force emanating from the weapon.
The power behind the spear was strong enough to make Delilah grow apprehensive as blood flowed from the side of her lips.
Still, this was perfect.
Xa’hurl was wounded, and with her sudden attack, she managed to incapacitate it.
If the Saint managed to hit Xa’hurl with the spear, then—
XIUUUUUUUU!
A sharp whistling pierced the air as the spear shot into the distance. The faint darkness was instantly torn apart by its brilliant light, streaking forward like a falling star and shredding everything in its path.
Sensing the danger of the attack, Xa’hurl let out a loud wail as it tried to move, but under Delilah’s entrapment, it was unable to move at all.
The spear tore through the air, blazing as brightly as a distant sun, until it finally closed in on the beast, and…
BANG!
Hit it directly.
A brilliant white light flooded the area the moment the spear struck the beast. The blast forced Delilah to stagger back, her face paling further and her body trembling violently. She could feel the blood within her stir yet again.
‘What is going on…?’
The situation was throwing her off, and she could feel the energy sapping away rapidly.
Hastily raising her head, she looked in the direction of the beast as the light started to fade.
‘…Even if the attack didn’t kill the beast, it should be able to do enough damage to—’
Delilah’s face froze the moment the light faded and Xa’hurl appeared once more, its figure completely unharmed.
She wasn’t the only one who was shocked.
Even the Saint was shocked by the sudden sight as his golden hair swayed in the air.
“Impossible!”
He had put everything into that attack, and while he wasn’t stronger than the beast and the mysterious woman, his attack had been accurate and powerful enough to deal massive damage to the beast.
How come it didn’t work?
This made no sense at all!
He wasn’t the only one shocked. Delilah was, too. She had also felt the power behind the strike. It was incredibly powerful. Enough to make her grow wary of it.
And yet…
The beast stood unscathed.
Almost as if nothing had happened to it.
How was this possible?
How was this—
“…..!”
Suddenly feeling her blood pulse again, Delilah staggered back as she rapidly held onto her heart. Slowly lifting her head, she stared at the massive creature that looked at her with its dozen eyes, and felt her breathing growing haggard.
What sort of….
Before she could even react, a grotesque, raw ripping sound tore through the air as the tentacles parted, revealing a massive mouth that seemed to be made of the very darkness that Delilah used.
Her blood stirred further, and before she could even react, the darkness swallowed her whole.

At the same time, deep within the Maw.
“Hm?”
Sensing something, Sylas slowly lifted his head to look up as a smirk slowly played at his lips.
‘…So it seems that the situation is about to end over there. In that case, I should end things over here too.’
He turned his attention towards the merchant in front of him. In particular, the relic was deeply embedded in the ground. With just one glance, Sylas could feel the tremendous power emitting from it.
One glance was enough to make him shudder.
‘In the end, it was the right decision to pretend to chase him.’
Following the sequence of events that had occurred above, Sylas had truly wanted to tear the merchant apart. However, realizing that he had collected the mirror, he also realized the merchant’s true intentions.
He had been looking for the Goddess relic the entire time.
In that case, why stop him?
He pretended to give chase, ‘almost’ catching him on multiple occasions.
However, in reality, he had been waiting for this since the start. His efforts paid off, and in the end, the merchant had truly found the relic.
Slowly pulling his gaze away from the relic, Sylas turned to look at the merchant.
“How should we go about this? Should I just take it by force, or are you going to give it to me?”
“How should we go about this? Should I just take it by force, or are you going to give it to me?”
“How should we go about this? Should I just take it by force, or are you going to give it to me?”
In his excitement, the voices slipped out.
Sylas’s face twitched as he quickly recovered and looked at the merchant once more. He could tell from the merchant’s body language that he was trying his best to reach for the relic, but Sylas wasn’t dumb enough to allow that.
Right as the merchant took a secret step back, Sylas shook his head and his body faded from the spot, appearing right before him.
“Force it is.”
“——!”
Lazarus’s pupils shrank the moment Sylas arrived, and he hastily reached down towards the relic, but Sylas was too fast for him, pressing his hand against Lazarus’s chest and sending him crashing away.
“Ukeh!”
Blood flowed out of Lazarus’s mouth as his chest caved in, several of his ribs cracking at the force of the impact.
Feeling his hand strike Lazarus’s chest and feeling it cave in, Sylas was sure that it wasn’t merely an illusion, and his lips pulled up as he turned his attention towards the scepter embedded in the water.
Everything was progressing smoothly.
Xa’hurl was almost done up above, and he had managed to get his hands on the Goddess relic. All that was left was getting rid of the merchant and that annoying pirate in order for him to finally become whole.
Smirking, Sylas reached for the relic, however… Right as he bent down to take it, his expression changed as he was shocked to see it fade before his very eyes.
“What…!?”
But it was just…
His head snapped toward the merchant, who clutched his chest, blood seeping from his mouth. Beside him sat a small black cat, gripping the relic tightly.
Seeing the cat, Sylas’s eyes shook.
A cat? How? When—!?
Sylas was just about to move when Lazarus suddenly raised his hand and struck his own right eye.
Puchi!
Blood began to seep out into the depths of the water, leaving Sylas stunned by the sight.
The next scene was even more grotesque as he watched Lazarus slowly pull out his own eyeball.
He didn’t scream. He didn’t flinch.
He didn’t… anything.
He was completely emotionless the entire time. As though the pain was nothing to him before, he slowly turned towards his cat and grabbed onto the scepter, pulling out the eye embedded into it and placing it into his missing eye.
That was the moment everything changed, and Sylas froze on the spot.
Because it was also in that moment that he felt it.
A deep sense of dread.
