Affinity: Chaos

Klaus and his fellow Faction members were taken to their temporary residence after they've been shown around the Crescent Moon Faction grounds.

Compared to the Moonlight Faction, it was safe to say that the Crescent Moon Faction was well ahead of them. In the Aurora Continent they might be a powerful force, but Klaus could tell that compared to a Faction like the Crescent Moon Faction that had thousands of years of heritage, not just the Moonlight Faction, but most of the top Factions and Families in the Aurora Continent were simply still behind them.

From what Klaus knew, there were about five Half God Plane powerhouses in the Moonlight Faction. He wasn't a hundred percent certain that the numbers were accurate.

The next day.

Klaus and his group were taken to a large Hall inside the Ice Chamber. The Hall was shockingly huge, as it spanned almost three hundred meters in both width and length.

When they walked past the previous day, Klaus could swear on his life that this place wasn't this big. Even when they were outside the building on their way here, he still didn't know it was this large. Entering the building toppled his view of things, but his reaction didn't show on his face, even though he was a bit shocked, it wasn't like he hadn't seen something like this before. It's just that all the times he has mostly encountered places like this, it's when exploring what could be called ancient ruins by most of the Elementalists in the Aurora Continent.

Entering these ancient ruins has always been seen as a great opportunity for most Elementalists, and in front of those from the Moonlight Faction was what could be considered part of an ancient ruin, just with owners.

At the middle of this Hall, there was a large well cut out ice wall that was about five meters tall and only about a meter wide, and there were carvings on the ice wall. The carving seemed to be that of a building that was composed of multiple floors. Each floor in the building was divided into two, First Order and Second Order. First Order being the left side of the floor, which also has a higher essence than that right side of the floor which is regarded as the Second Order.

When they got there, there were already over a hundred people present already, and more were rushing in. The group were led to the front of the line, where Faction Leader Beatrice and the Elders from the Moonlight Faction were already waiting for them.

When they got there, Faction Leader Beatrice told them about the Ice Chamber. The Ice Chamber is divided into thirteen floors, and anyone who can get to the seventh floor will be allowed to cultivate inside the Ice Chamber.

"Won't that take a lot of time?" One of the young ladies from the Moonlight Faction asked curiously.

Faction Leader Beatrice shook her head and pointed at the ice wall that had the chamber carved on it, "That's why they'll have to pass through that test first."

Seeing that the group's attention has been drawn to the ice wall, she continued, "It's a very simple process, anyone who places their hands on it and revolves their essence to their hands, the floors in the carvings will light up, and according to the number of floors it stops in will determine the aptitude of their ice abilities."

Listening to her explain, the group understood the process. Thinking about it from that perspective, then it wouldn't take long.

The Elders from the Crescent Moon Faction soon stepped forward, and announced that anyone who wished to use the Ice Chamber to step forward. The requirements to enter is something everyone present was already aware of, they even made sure to tell those from the Moonlight Faction early so as not to waste any time here.

The number of people in the Hall soon got to over two hundred, and from what Klaus could sense, more were still waiting to come in.

Those inside the Hall soon started to place their hands in the ice wall, checking to see what floor they'll be able to use. The first ten people were unable to get past the fifth floor, and only the eleventh person managed to make the seventh floor light up. Even though it was the Second Order which was the weaker side, that didn't hide his elation.

The Ice Chamber is opened once every hundred years to allow the chamber to accumulate enough essence. According to some speculations Klaus heard from those around, the density of the essence above the twelfth floor was so high that it even formed essence mists.

Time passed by slowly and the number of people present didn't reduce in the slightest, rather, it was increasing.

Over a hundred people were tested within the first thirty minutes as it only took a few seconds for the result of the test to be seen, so people only spent a few seconds in front of the ice wall. Of the just over a hundred people who had tried the test, the person with the highest aptitude made the Tenth floor light up, and it was also the First Order which indicated that this person's aptitude was good. There have been multiple people who had made it to the Ninth floor, but only one in a hundred made it to the Tenth floor.

Of the hundred people or so who had done the test, only fifteen had been able to get the Seventh floor and above to little up in the chamber's carving on the ice wall.

Klaus watched everything happening and looked at his companions, he could sense that they were a bit nervous. For someone like him, he couldn't help but wonder which floor he would light up. There was no doubt in his mind that he wouldn't be able to light up the carving of the chamber up to the Tenth floor.

Someone from the Moonlight Faction finally took a step forward, naturally drawing the attention of those from the Crescent Moon Faction who had been paying attention to them all this while.
