Affinity: Chaos

Chapter 1735: Who Says It’s Impossible?

The Elders, along with the youths from the Crescent Moon Faction, were completely enraged by Klaus's remark. This was their Faction's premier training ground-a place revered as a Holy Ground for any Water Elementalist. All Water Elementalists aspired to enhance their ice abilities, and training here was a privilege. Yet Klaus spoke of the Twelfth Floor as if it were a place anyone could access.

"If you're only going to run your mouth and not even attempt the test, then leave," the young man had said earlier. He was already irritated by Klaus's behavior and saw an opportunity to reprimand him in front of everyone.

Klaus shot him a nonchalant look, a smile curling at the corners of his lips. He addressed the young man with a bright smile, saying, "How about we make a bet?"

Seeing that Klaus had no intention of taking the test but was instead proposing a bet, Faction Leader Beatrice couldn't help but feel frustrated.

"Klaus," she admonished.

Klaus turned to her, grinning.

"I'm not causing any trouble. It's just a friendly bet between two juniors. Don't tell me the Elders want to intervene in something so trivial?"

The implication behind Klaus's words was simple: he wanted to play with the young man. If the young man refused, Klaus would naturally back off. All eyes turned toward the young man. The young man scoffed, a playful smile appearing on his face.

"What are you willing to bet?" Klaus considered the young man before recalling something he had heard the previous day from some members of the Moonlight Faction, who had explored the Crescent Moon Faction grounds after arriving. Although Klaus had stayed in his room, some others had ventured out and talked about a rare treasure called a drop of Ice Crystals. This treasure, naturally known to Klaus, was exceedingly rare-even on the Aurora Continent, it was almost impossible to obtain.

The requirements for acquiring it were nearly impossible. However, Klaus had heard that all four Ninth Stage Sovereigns among the younger generation of the Crescent Moon Faction would receive one after this test. If he could obtain something like this before entering the Ice Chamber, he was certain his cultivation speed would soar.

A drop of Ice Crystals significantly enhances the cultivation speed of Water Elementalists, particularly those excelling in ice abilities. This was a treasure every Water Elementalist coveted, especially when preparing to enter a place like the Ice Chamber.

"I'll teach you how to achieve this." Klaus opened his palm, revealing a single drop of water. The drop of water appeared inconspicuous, giving off no strange aura.

The young man and almost everyone from the Crescent Moon Faction stared at Klaus as if he were a fool, except for the Elders, who furrowed their brows and stared at the drop with great interest. They could sense that it was anything but ordinary.

The young man burst into laughter at the sight of the drop of water. After several moments, he paused and asked, "Is your brain rotten?"

Klaus did not reply; he merely held the drop of water above his palm, silently surveying everyone present.

Just as the young man was about to speak again, one of the two Elders, both in the Half God Plane, who had welcomed the group from the island, stepped closer to Klaus and asked, "Little friend, does this drop of water contain the pressure of the bottom of the ocean?"

The Elder's question surprised everyone, quickly followed by audible gasps.

"Impossible! How can humans replicate the pressure of the ocean floor?!" an Eighth Stage Sovereign exclaimed. Generally, this person would not dare to question an Elder's words, but this claim was too incredible to accept.

One reason the ocean depths remain largely unexplored is the terrifying pressure of the water, which increases the deeper one goes. There are depths even Half God Plane Elementalists dare not approach. Many treasures have been lost to the sea throughout the millennia, and no one will ever recover them due to the overwhelming pressure.

"Oh... who says it's impossible?" Klaus laughed, glancing toward the young lady in the Eighth Stage of Sovereign Plane before moving his arm away from the drop of water.

The moment Klaus's palm parted from the drop, a shocking aura erupted. The drop of water fell to the ground, but instead of splashing like normal water would, it struck the ground with tremendous force, creating a mini crater approximately half a meter in radius. However, the most striking aspect was the hole that formed in the center of the crater. In the center of the half-meter-radius crater, there was a hole about the size of a pinky fingertip, from which an aura emanated that made their hearts tremble.

"This... this..."

Everyone froze, unsure of how to interpret the scene before them. They could clearly see that Klaus hadn't launched any attack, yet how could a simple drop of water contain such power?

It was unheard of!

Did that mean the Elder was right?

This question flashed through everyone's minds. If Klaus truly possessed the ability to wield the ocean's might, it would be a shocking feat-perhaps even greater than achieving the Twelfth Floor. At that moment, a few of the Elders couldn't help but recall Klaus' earlier remarks.

"Quickly retrieve it," an Elder from the Crescent Moon Faction urged, reacting swiftly. She rushed to the small crater in front of Klaus and produced a whip. The whip, white in color, exuded an intense, bone-chilling cold. Like a snake, it snaked into the hole. Everyone could see the Elder's expression shift slightly as she let out a snort and forcefully yanked on the arm holding the end of the whip, drawing out a single drop of water.

The drop remained intact, much to the dismay of everyone present. The whip had wrapped around the drop of water, and given the force it exerted, the water should have been destroyed by now. Everyone turned their eyes to Klaus who still had a carefree expression on his face as he watched everything unfold.
