ARMIPOTENT

Chapter 1827 - 1827: The Enemy Is Attacking

The Frontier was more prepared this time as ballista and catapult were installed on the wall. Inspired by Tang Shaoyang’s arrow, Commander Edson loaded the ballista with an elemental bolt instead of the metallic ammunition they had in the storage.

The catapult is also loaded with the elemental bomb, a variety of elemental bombs ranging from the poison that would kill the Void Creature slowly, the fire that would burn the void creature, the ice that would slow the void creature and the elemental bomb made of explosive lightning. They released the catapult first as it had more range than the ballista.

Of course, the mages unleashed their spells first to break the barrier that protected the marching army. Thousands of high-grade spells were released, but that was not enough to destroy the barrier. The mage army failed to break the barrier, and the elemental bomb exploded as it hit the barrier.

The eight kings formed and maintained the barrier themselves, and of course, those spells and elemental bombs were not enough to destroy the barrier. That did not stop the Hurakan Legion and the alliance army from releasing their spells and elemental bombs. It was in vain as the barrier was maintained, the best those spells and elemental bombs could achieve was making a crack on the barrier which was gone in the following second.

The army of the void creature was also prepared with the long-ranged assault, learning their lesson after the first attack. The army of the Void Creatures marched at a steady pace, no one outran each other like the previous attack. They moved in sync, protected by the barrier as they got closer to the wall.

“I don’t think we should come down with those catapults,” Castor commented as he watched the exploding elemental bombs which were similar to fireworks. Those things did not differentiate between ally and enemy for sure. Their captain’s enemy might drop a few elemental bombs at them and pretend they misfired or make any other lame excuses.

“Then do you want to try to fight the king?” Tang Shaoyang asked with a smile as he eyed the kings. The eight kings focused on maintaining the barrier and ignored everything else.

Castor’s eyes widened in shock, not expecting the question. The same for the others, but they quickly realized that they were far stronger than usual with the Spirit Fusion. The spirit within their bodies screamed, telling their host to agree with it.

They were shocked and then interested in the offer, but there were still uncertainties in their eyes. Tang Shaoyang pointed out the three Snow Elves that integrated with these three shadow spirits.

“We have them to cover you to get closer to the kings, and you ambush them when Commander Damaris and her friends lured the emperor. You guys can form two teams and each team chooses one king to fight, or you can go together to fight one king instead.”

Again it was another brilliant plan with fewer details. Using the shadow to ambush the king, and the rest was up to the individuals. Another brilliant plan where they had to trust what their captain put in them.

“Don’t take it seriously, it’s just an offer. You can stay on the wall with Azgul Palace’s force, and maybe help me to distract the emperor. That will do too.”

Before any of them could give an answer, Commander Damaris returned, running toward Tang Shaoyang. She had a smile on her face, an indication the talk was going well.

“We agree with your stupid plan,” In less than half an hour the brilliant plan turned into a stupid plan, “We agree even though we know it’s stupid, better than doing nothing. However, we, it’s just us, Atilla, me, and the other four commanders. We figure out that Commander Edson will never agree to your plan. We will pull the emperor’s attention, and you must assassinate the king, at least four of them.”

Commander Damaris shook her head, waving her hand. “Nah, I don’t want to put too much pressure on you. It will be good even if you kill one of them. A lot of us failed to kill one, and getting rid of one of them is good enough.”

“Your administrator friend doesn’t agree with your plan, but Commander Rudra convinced her and the other three commanders.” She looked Tang Shaoyang in the eye. “I don’t know if Rudra has another plan, but you must be careful.”

The three commanders from The Whispers, The Hyperion Stars, and Seven Clovers did not agree with the plan, but Rudra convinced them. She had heard about the conflict that involved Tang Shaoyang, and she reminded him to be ready for the worst. From her experience, Rudra would not use the backhand method, but she knew that people changed. It was a kind reminder for the hero who had killed one of the kings from the Void Cult.

Tang Shaoyang responded with a nod as their focus returned to the battlefield. Realizing the barrier could not be broken by the spells and elemental bombs, Commander Edson along with his generals made their move.

The black cloud gathered in the sky as the lightning flashed and thunder rumbled beyond the black cloud. Then a thunder struck down, shattering the barrier formed by the eight kings. With the opening, the elemental bombs and the spells went through, hitting the army of the void creatures.

The eight kings suffered a backlash as they failed to create another barrier. The Elemental Bomb and the spells rained down the marching army, killing thousands of them. Commander Edson was a little bit too late to join in as the army was closing in.

Commander Damaris returned to her people, her generals from the factions from the Azgul Palace. She made a gesture before leaving, telling him that she trusted him.

“So? Have you guys made the decision?” Tang Shaoyang asked his team as he watched the battle. He did not take out his bow and attacked the army like in the previous battle as he did not want to attract the emperor and the eight kings’ attention toward him.

“I am in!” Anne answered with no hesitation. She would not miss her chance to kill one of the kings.

“I want to ask something before I decide,” Ira was still hesitating. “What’s our chance to kill the king?”

Tang Shaoyang shook his head, “If you are hesitating, then you better fight from the wall. Your hesitation will kill you in the battle.”

He did not tell her the answer in his head. He believed that if five of them worked together, they could kill the king, and he was confident that ten of them could kill one of the kings, and twenty of them would be an overkill for a king. That was the answer in his head, but he did not tell her because the hesitation and the doubt might get them killed instead of killing the king.

“I want to kill the king!” Khaya gave her answer, and most of the Admin Helpers did not have the confidence except for Castor and Kiara. Even after dying once, he was not afraid of death. The Tiger Beastmen were eager to fight the king in fact.

A team was formed, a team of six. Khaya, Nandra the Senior Administrator from the Snow Elf, Salia the Junior Administrator from the Snow Elf, Anne, Kiara, and Castor.

“The rest of you will be helping Atilla, but retreat to the wall once the emperor comes for them!” Ira was chosen to lead the team once Tang Shaoyang left for his brilliant plan. Of course, it was not the time yet.

The ballista, the catapults, the spells, and the archers could only slow the army of millions, but the army eventually reached the wall. The massive size of void creatures used their overwhelming force to break the gate, and the nimble void creatures tried to climb the one-hundred-meter wall.
