They had been a bit late in coming back to make sure that the outfits fit correctly after they had been altered, but Lena managed to clear some time in her schedule Thursday morning to do it. She was going to be meeting with Samuel's uncle later that afternoon, but she knew that there would be plenty of time to do both without worry.
Looking at herself in the mirror, the princess felt like the chiffon dress was a touch too big for her still. Turning and looking at it from the side, she decided against requesting it to be fixed a bit more. Partly because she realized it allowed her enough room to move without feeling like it hugged her body too tightly and also because she doubted that a week and a half would be enough time to get the modifications done before the engagement party.
"Do you think that it works okay?" She didn't have to turn around when she heard Samuel's voice behind as she could see him clearly even though he was standing behind her from the mirror.
"How does it feel in your shoulders and back?" The princess asked as she continued to look at the front of her dress.
"I think it feels okay. It doesn't feel baggy in the shoulders anymore, but I still feel like I can move my arounds without feeling it press tightly against my back." Samuel replied as he moved closer.
"The pants were fixed just right so that they don't drag at all." He told as she turned to look at him. She couldn't deny that the suit looked like it was a much better fit for him than it had when they originally came in. Now, she would just have to figure out the way right for him to fix his hair so it matched his look. He would also need some good cufflinks as well.
"What about this then? I feel like it is still a little it too big. I'm not sure though if that's just because I'm not that used to wearing dresses." The princess asked as she turned around so that Samuel could see how well the dress fit her or not.
"I don't think that it looks too bad. I think that the little bit of extra space is a good fit for you. From what I can tell it doesn't look like it would be noticeable that it's too big for you either." Lena made a 'hm' noise after he told her this as she looked at herself in the mirror again. They were working with two different assistants than had helped them out the first time and both were just standing to the side and out of the way as it seemed like neither the princes or her fiancé was in deed of their assistance.
"I guess then we can get ready to ask for these to be packaged up so that we can take them home with us." She replied as she turned around to face the other.
"Wait though. There was something that you said we could do when we came back to try them on before we left." Samuel said as he moved in front of her to stop her from walking any further ahead.
"And what would that be?" She asked having honestly forgotten what she had told him the last time that they were there.
"You said that we could take pictures to show my family what they look like. My mother was asking me the other day about if we had decided on the outfit and theme for the party and I told her that she would be seeing pictures of the outfits when we went to go pick them up." He still had been texting with his mother despite everything that had been going on. He just wasn't keen on giving her a call and rather than telling her the real reason why, he just would say that he was so busy with the preparations for everything that he only had time to text rather than call.
"I forgot about that, but fine. We can take some photos together." The princess agreed even though she wasn't that thrilled about having her picture taken.
"Excuse me, we would like to take some photos. Would you mind taking them for us?" Samuel asked the male assistant who was standing off to the side. He had no problem obliging them which allowed Samuel to keep his hands free and able to stand next to Lena so that his parents would be able to see them together in their outfits.
They took a few pictures in that position with Samuel asking the princess to shift slightly as he did so that the outfits could be seen at different angles. Once he was satisfied, he was got ready to take the phone back to look at the photos when Lena stopped him.
"I want to take one more if we're doing pictures. This one will be for my father though as I'm sure he'd like to see more photos of us together." The princess explained as she motioned for him to come back over to her. Samuel obliged and came back over to stand next to her as he expected to make more photos like that, but was surprised when she came to stand in front of him.
"Wrap your arms around my waist and lean down so your chin is resting on my head." Samuel moved the best he could to get in the position that she requested. He couldn't deny that it was a bit awkward and he had to lean further down that he had expected to be able to rest his chin on her head. He was honestly rather surprised by her request as it felt like it was much more of an intimate picture than he had figured she would be comfortable taking.
Once she felt that Samuel was positioned correctly and the way he was resting his chin on her head wasn't uncomfortable she leaned back into him and placed her hands over his arms. She ignored the fact that she could feel Samuel's heartbeat pick up pace when she did this and nodded to the assistant that he was okay to take the picture.
Since this picture was more directed than the other ones were, he did a three second count down to make sure that both were ready to smile when took the photo. Lena wasn't much of a smiler, but she did her best to offer a smile one for the photo since she would be sending it to her father and he would prefer to see her smiling than seeming as indifferent as she usually did.
After the photo was taken, Lena waited a few seconds before she let go of Samuel's arms so that he could release her from his embrace and move to get the phone back from the assistant. It wasn't that bad of a position to be in for a photo she surmised as Samuel thanked the assistant and took the phone back.
"Honestly if I didn't know any better, I would say that this picture almost makes us look like a normal couple." He commented as he looked at the photo before turning it to see if it met the princess's approval. She scoffed as she looked at the picture, he wasn't wrong, but..
"Sammy-boy we might look like a normal couple, but there's nothing normal about is nor is there likely ever to be anything normal about us." She replied as she handed him the phone back.
"This is something that everyone in my family has to get used which is the fact that we're all odd and everything we do and work is out of the ordinary compared to everyone else." She continued as she turned to look at the dress once more. She guessed that after seeing the photo it looked a lot better than she first thought that it had.
"I suppose you're right. Though if we wanted to, I'm sure we could work on brining something more normal to the family."
"No." was Lena's immediate response to his question.
"I prefer it the way things are. Normal would take the fun out of things and make it boring compared to now."
"Dully noted. I see you prefer things that are abnormal. I will be sure to keep that in mind in the future when I consider any gifts to get you." Samuel replied causing Lena to turn and look at him with a rather sharp look.
"In the future you won't be buying me any gifts. I'm not in need of gifts and prefer not to receive them." She told him before turning to the store assistants and letting them know they were pleased with the outfits and would be happy to take them with them without needing to do any further modifications to them.
Even though Lena said she didn't want gifts, Samuel just figured it would be his job to show that gifts could be good things every once in a while.
