Chapter 1214: Ruined World

“It’s time.”

As the words reached his ears, Whisker couldn’t help but sigh heavily.

“I’m going to miss this peace so much.”

“On the bright side.” Atticus didn’t take his gaze away from the sky. “The end goal to all of this is eternal peace.”

“You’re making it sound like you want to kill me.”

“I can’t say it hadn’t crossed my mind.”

Whisker gasped dramatically. “My star actor! Has our relationship been one sided all this time?”

Whisker looked genuinely pained that anyone would want to take pity on him. But he wasn’t dealing with novices.

“I thought I made it obvious?” Atticus didn’t even spare him a glance.

“Lazy idiot.” Ozeroth added fuel to the flames. “It just goes to show how useless you are.”

Whisker slowly shook his head. “This is… shocking,” he said in a sad tone. “Perhaps I’ll go somewhere I’ll be appreciated.”

“Ah!” Ozeroth burst into laughter. “At this point, not even the unranked worlds would accept you, even if you offered to wipe their asses for life!”

Whisker’s eyes narrowed. Then he smiled. “Hm—” but before he could speak, Atticus quickly cut in.

“Alright, that’s enough. I was just joking, of course, Whisker.”

“But it still hurts. Greatly.”

Atticus sighed. He was doing this exactly because he wanted to avoid trouble. After the awakening of his true Will, Ozeroth’s pride seemed to have multiplied, a thought that would have caused him to shudder in the past.

Now, at any insult to himself, he was very susceptible to blowing up. Whisker knew this well, and he wouldn’t hesitate to use it. Atticus wasn’t in the mood to separate fights today.

“I’m sorry,” Atticus said. “Now are we good?”

Whisker smiled. “An apology from a god…” Whisker breathed in deeply. He seemed to love the sound of it.

His smile widened. “Yeah. We’re good.”

Atticus nodded and turned towards the heavens once more.

“You know I won’t be able to follow you, right?” Whisker cautioned, mentioning it for the umpteenth time.

“Yeah, you mentioned already.” Atticus had already made preparations just in case things went wrong while he was gone.

During the past five months, he had added to the number of Eldoralth’s protectors. The Eldorians went from 6 to 10.

About 8 were humans, and the last two, Atticus had decided to give to Jenera and Zenon.

They had both shown they deserved it. Still, because of politics, he kept the ratio of humans on the higher side.

Aside from this, he had left Noctis with Anastasia. The little guy had been saddened that he wasn’t coming along with Atticus, but at the same time, happy to spend time with her.

Atticus had informed Magnus, Avalon, Oberon, and Jenera that he would be away for an unknown time.

He told them to keep that information between themselves just in case, and also reminded them that Noctis was still very much present.

Alongside all these preparations, Whisker was also going to be around. It filled Atticus with so much relief to know that his family was well protected.

“Keep them safe.”

Whisker could feel the seriousness in Atticus’ tone. He decided to keep his snarky remarks to himself.

“I will.”

At Whisker’s response, Atticus nodded. Then, he closed his eyes.

In the next moment, Whisker vanished from his side and appeared in the distance.

‘Finally. The boring times are over,’ Whisker thought with a wide grin.

It had been true that he enjoyed the peace, but now that it was about to change, Whisker found himself enjoying the upcoming chaos even more. He couldn’t wait!

A cloak of crimson detonated from Atticus, spreading out. It covered lands for miles, then hundreds of miles, then thousands… until the entire planet was enveloped.

The citizens of the new Eldoralth turned upwards to see the crimson sky.

On top of the high hill, Magnus and Avalon stood side by side, gazing at the sky with varying intensity. Across the cities, paragons fixed their gazes upward.

No one said anything, and regardless of their power level, hearts started beating fast.

Somehow, they all knew…

A change was coming.

As the world was enveloped in a crimson glow, Atticus felt a strong pull. One he had felt the moment he became a god.

He didn’t resist, and just like that, the god of Eldoralth vanished from the face of the planet.

Atticus opened his eyes to a collapsing world.

It was dark, and yet brightly lit at the same time.

Floating islands littered the skies, each one eroding slowly into the atmosphere as though enveloped in an endless loop of destruction. The skies were cracked all over, as though reality itself was fractured.

It was a ruined world.

‘Someone’s watching.’

Atticus’ hand reached for his katana, battle ready.

His gaze pierced forward, transversing dozens of floating islands before settling on one.

The island was larger, and it seemed to corrode even faster than the others. But Atticus wasn’t focused on the island.

‘There.’

His gaze narrowed in on a figure seated calmly on a large throne. A cloak of darkness enveloped his body, head lowered as though in deep sleep.

Atticus’ eyes dropped to the chest of the figure, and there he saw it, a large, gaping hole where the heart should’ve been. A void the size of a head.

He tried to peer through it, but there was only one thing within.

Eternal darkness.

Yet somehow, that wasn’t what caught Atticus’ attention.

It was the feeling that gripped him. Despite the new world. Despite the chaos clearly unfolding around him… Atticus felt the one emotion that made the least sense in a place like this.

Sadness.

Then, the figure’s eyes suddenly snapped open.

Atticus’ eyes met his, and instantly, his gaze narrowed into pinpricks. His grip on his katana tightened.

Whoosh!

But before even a moment could pass, Atticus found himself standing directly in front of the figure.

His eyes widened. He recoiled in the next instant, creating distance between them.
