Beast Tamer Ascension

Book 2: Chapter 34: The Dragon Group of the Academy

Vol 2 Chapter 34: The Dragon Group of the Academy

The one who suddenly spoke up was none other than the curious Gao Sheng.

"I may not practice the techniques of the Beast Taming Sect and cannot sign a bloodline contract with a dragon pet, but the methods of beast taming are not limited to bloodline contracts. Just imagine how exciting it would be to own a dragon pet capable of rivaling a Heavenly God Physique!"

In the crowd, Xu Zhizhi looked toward Gao Sheng. Could this guy be a plant Lin Jing hired?

To be honest, he even suspected that Wang Xiao had been bribed. Until now, he still couldn't fully accept what he was seeing. He glanced at the dumb-looking Dragon Carp on the stage. How could this Dragon Carp possibly rival the Heavenly God Physique? If this had been a battle between cultivators of the same level, wouldn't this fish have instantly defeated him?

Could it really achieve such a feat just with the Hidden Dragon Arts and this single pill?

Lin Jing looked at Gao Sheng and smiled. "As long as it’s trained properly, even if it doesn’t compare to my Dragon Carp, it would still be extremely powerful. As for the price…"

Achieving the same level as the Flame Dragon Carp was impossible. After all, no one else had Longevity Blood to feed their pet beasts. However, Lin Jing had tested the product many times and only dared to sell it after gaining full confidence.

"We’re all classmates here. If anyone wants to train a dragon pet, I definitely won’t hold back on guidance."

"The price will be set at the average cost of a third-grade pill!"

"Moreover, I plan to establish a student organization where interested peers can explore the methods of training dragon pets together. Anyone who purchases a Rising Dragon Pill can join this organization. I, Lin Jing, will personally guide you on how to nurture a dragon pet throughout the process. What do you think? Quite a good deal, isn’t it?"

A student organization?!

The crowd was stunned.

Xu Zhizhi took a deep breath. He realized Lin Jing's ambitions were far from simple.

In this academy, student organizations were essentially factions of the Ancient Kingdom. Typically, only the most talented from prominent families could establish such organizations. Talented individuals from smaller forces who joined them would essentially be pledging allegiance to these factions, making it easier to navigate the cultivation world in the future.

Lin Jing, a freshman from a third-rate sect, actually dared to entertain the idea of founding a student organization!

Who would possibly want to follow him?!

"Are you serious? I’m joining!" someone exclaimed the next moment—it was Gao Sheng again.

"What the h***?! Someone’s actually joining?!" Xu Zhizhi was dumbfounded. Gao Sheng, a descendant of a Nascent Soul cultivator, was ignoring the elite offspring of prominent families and instead choosing to associate with Lin Jing. What was he thinking?!

"Student organization? What’s it called?" Gao Sheng asked, genuinely interested.

He happened to own a Foundation Establishment Dragon Horse, but it lacked a royal bloodline. Even with his status, his family wasn’t willing to provide him with a royal beast cub as a mount, let alone a dragon-blooded royal beast cub.

The allure of Lin Jing's Dragon Carp was undeniable. Just imagining his Dragon Horse being able to rival cultivators with Heavenly God Physiques was enough to make him salivate.

He’d come to the academy under family pressure and had no interest in broadening his network. Pursuing what interested him was far more appealing.

"Dragon Palace," Lin Jing replied. "The organization I plan to establish will be called Dragon Palace."

"Besides Brother Gao, are there any other classmates interested?"

As Lin Jing’s words fell, the crowd erupted into discussion.

Many freshmen looked at him with intrigue, unsure of what he was up to.

"Dragon Palace? Could you sell me a Rising Dragon Pill now? I want to try it out first," a voice said.

It was Ziling’er, the seventh-ranked Dragon Carp cultivator of the Pill Cauldron Sect. She was clearly intrigued by the Rising Dragon Pill.

"Not yet," Yuan Jing remarked as he eyed the dragon pet. Although his ideal companion was a "Sword Spirit," he couldn’t deny being tempted by a young dragon capable of rivaling a Heavenly God Physique.

"What about you, Brother Xu?" Lin Jing smiled at Xu Zhizhi, seeing that some of his former companions from their time in the Cavern Heaven were already showing interest.

Xu Zhizhi, however, hesitated.

On one hand, he was indeed envious of dragon pets. Everyone had seen the battle earlier. On the other hand, he felt that following Lin Jing wouldn’t help him build connections useful for his future in the cultivation world.

He was still deliberating between joining student organizations established by scions of noble families.

"Count me in! But make sure to give me a discount on the pill!" Xu Zhizhi exclaimed, his eyes red with frustration. The Kirin scion from the Wang family in the capital had already been overshadowed by Lin Jing—what was the point of currying favor with noble descendants anymore?!

He only hoped Lin Jing wasn’t just a flash-in-the-pan genius. Whether this decision was right or wrong, he didn’t know, but he gave up the chance to cling to a noble family’s coattails and boarded Lin Jing’s wild ride.

The battle between the Dragon Carp and Wang Xiao had already achieved its promotional goal. Now, every freshman present wanted to witness the Rising Dragon Pill’s effects firsthand.

"I’m short on Spirit Stones. Can I trade this pill for a Rising Dragon Pill instead?" Ziling’er tossed a vial toward Lin Jing.

"This is a third-grade pill—the Titan Pill. It allows lower-level cultivators to simulate a 'Nascent Soul Avatar' once and experience the power of the Nascent Soul. Among third-grade pills, it’s one of the most valuable."

"Naturally," Lin Jing said, accepting the Titan Pill. Third-grade pills were typically used by Golden Core cultivators, and the Titan Pill was quite valuable.

In truth, the cost of a Rising Dragon Pill wasn’t particularly high among third-grade pills. The only expensive component was the dragon blood from a Monster Core-stage dragon-blooded beast. The other ingredients were all synthesized by Pine Leaf Mice. Once the Dragon Carp reached the Monster Core stage, Lin Jing wouldn’t even need to purchase dragon blood anymore.

Lin Jing handed a Rising Dragon Pill to Ziling’er.

"Fairy Zi, do you have a pet beast?" he asked.

"I have a Foundation Establishment pill beast I use for testing pills. It’s currently at my cave abode," Ziling’er replied. "Fellow Daoists, you’re welcome to come with me."

With that, she eagerly took the Rising Dragon Pill, condensed her True Essence, and flew toward a nearby mountain. The crowd immediately followed her.

Before long, everyone arrived at Ziling’er’s academy cave abode. She performed a hand seal, and the stone door to her cave opened. A white Foundation Establishment rabbit demon slowly emerged.

"Master, what’s the matter… so many people. I’m scared," the rabbit demon said in a soft, trembling voice, gazing nervously at the dozens of cultivators.

"I have a pill here. Give it a try," Ziling’er said, tossing the Rising Dragon Pill to the rabbit demon.

"That’s… a pill rabbit!" someone exclaimed, recognizing the rabbit demon’s species. It was a unique type of beast with a bloodline that could mitigate the toxicity of various pills. Pill Rabbits were specially bred by the Pill Cauldron Sect. Their combat abilities were weak, but they were ideal companions for alchemists.

"Fairy Zi, while a Pill Rabbit is a perfect test subject for pills, its bloodline strength is low. It might not fully display the Rising Dragon Pill’s effects," Lin Jing remarked. "The stronger the bloodline before consuming the pill, the purer the transformation into dragon blood."

"It doesn’t matter," Ziling’er replied.

Under her gaze, the Pill Rabbit consumed the Rising Dragon Pill.

Thump thump!

Its heartbeat grew incredibly loud. The red in its eyes began to cloud, and a terrifying dragon aura began to emanate from its body, causing even the Foundation Establishment geniuses around it to feel a faint sense of fear.

Dragon aura was far more overwhelming than the pressure of a cultivator of the same level!

With a hum, spiritual energy surged as the Pill Rabbit broke through to the mid-Foundation Establishment stage. Its body underwent a dramatic transformation: its fur shed, its frame expanded significantly, and its forelimbs became unusually thick and muscular, resembling coiled vines wrapped around its bones. Its hind legs were even more astonishing, with muscles bulging like mountains.

The muscles on its back and waist were tightly knit and fluid, outlining a majestic dragon-like shape. When it shifted slightly, the movement of its back muscles resembled the undulations of a divine dragon. Even its abdomen, though covered by short fur, displayed eight distinct abdominal muscles.

Its long ears transformed into a pair of crimson dragon horns.

Seeing this, Ziling’er took a deep breath and said, "Attack me to test your strength."

In the next instant, the Dragon Rabbit lunged at Ziling’er, kicking her with immense force. Her protective True Essence shattered, and she was sent flying into the mountain, spitting blood.

The crowd was dumbfounded.

Was this the same timid Pill Rabbit from before? And why did that kick feel like it carried some pent-up resentment, rather than merely testing its strength?
