Beast Taming Patrol

Chapter 500: Seeing Xing Yun Again (3)

He hoped his previous research could be of some help to the combat personnel on the border frontlines.

At least, the instructors at the training camp wouldn’t have to sacrifice so much anymore.

“We’re here.” With a slight jolt, Li Qingmei coughed lightly, interrupting everyone’s thoughts, “Don’t worry too much, everything will get better. Let’s get off the bus now, they’ve already prepared a place for us to rest.”

They looked at each other and then disembarked from the vehicle together.

Setting foot on the familiar ground, a sense of nostalgia filled Lin Su’s eyes.

The border frontlines, I’m back.

In a training ground as large as several soccer fields, a slightly short but robust man stood with his arms crossed, quietly watching the ten people who were panting as they ran.

The runners, all clad in identical combat uniforms, had metallic rings bound around their ankles. The rings looked heavy, and just the thought of running with them was exhausting.

The trainees in the field were already drenched in sweat, yet the middle-aged man supervising them remained expressionless throughout.

The vicious scar almost splitting his face gave him a fearsome appearance, no matter what expression he wore.

At a certain moment, the scarred man seemed to sense something and looked up towards the entrance of the training ground.

The next moment, a look of surprise crossed his face.

To the astonishment of the ten trainees, their normally unemotional instructor suddenly sprinted towards a figure at the entrance.

At the entrance, Lin Su greeted the approaching Xing Yun with a big laugh and a hug.

“Long time no see, Instructor.”

“Instructor, are those the new members of the training camp?” Lin Su asked curiously as he looked at the runners in the field.

They reminded him of the Xing Yun Squad members from before.

“Correct,” Xing Yun nodded slightly. “In the past few months, the assessments for the new students from various colleges have basically finished. The current batch consists mostly of social members.”

“Social members?” Lin Su blinked in surprise.

“Beast Tamers who didn’t get into college, those who have graduated and entered society, the Beast Tamers who have signed the frontline beast cultivation agreements, and so on,” Xing Yun explained, pointing to the runners. “Their abilities tend to be weaker than yours were.”

“Doesn’t that mean the instructors have an even heavier burden?” Lin Su expressed his concern.

“If it were before, indeed,” Xing Yun chuckled without any reservation. “Usually, the death rate in training camps attended by college students is a bit lower. For other mixed camps, it’s even higher, historically over 6%.”

“But that was before.” Xing Yun patted Lin Su’s shoulder with a hint of mirth in his eyes, “It’s different now.”

“With the Body Tempering Liquid and Bone Tempering Liquid you came up with, we instructors indeed had an easier time,” Xing Yun laughed. “The alliance decided to try manufacturing a batch and, after discussions, chose an operational camp for a trial to see the effects. If there were no significant issues, they planned to scale up production.”

“Since you’re from the second operational sequence, the Southern Commander chose our second sequence’s training camp for the trial.” Xing Yun’s eyes held more mirth, “Now, we instructors have all completed Body Tempering and Bone Tempering early on. Those who got the liquids later are probably still absorbing them.”

“Body Tempering can enhance physical fitness,” Xing Yun said with emotion. “Some injuries that were once fatal can now be survived, thanks to the enhancement. Consequently, the death rate in training camps has naturally dropped. Last month’s batch already fell below 5%.”

“That’s great news,” Lin Su’s face lit up with a smile.

Being able to help the instructors was his greatest motivation.

“Besides that, the evolution routes you’ve researched are already in use among the combat personnel on the border frontlines,” Xing Yun smiled. “Not to mention other places, just look at our training camp. Nearly half the instructors now have pets of the monarch species, whereas before it was only about 10%.”

“Now, you’re probably the most famous researcher on the border frontlines,” Xing Yun chuckled. “All combat personnel know there’s a young researcher named Lin Su who, at a young age, has developed many evolution routes for monarch species pets, all of which are included in the frontline beast cultivation agreement.”

“It’s what I should do,” Lin Su nodded slightly.

“There’s no such thing as should or shouldn’t.” Xing Yun looked at Lin Su with a complex expression, “Although I don’t know much about research, it’s only been a few months and you’ve developed so many evolution routes. You’ve worked hard.”

“If Li Hong knew, he’d probably think saving you was his greatest bargain,” Xing Yun chuckled.

“Instructor, can I visit Li Hong’s grave again?” Lin Su asked.

“Sure, I’ll take you there after lunch. We’ll bring a bottle of good… no, a bottle of drink, to pay respects to that guy, Li Hong,” Xing Yun laughed heartily.

Lin Su nodded mutely, then curiously asked, “Instructor, how’s the Dark Demon Body going?”

“Dark Demon Body…” Xing Yun’s eyes gleamed with humor. “This synergy technique is outstanding. While everyone is still at the early stages, it’s already significantly boosting combat strength. More importantly, the synergy technique’s enhancement of bodily defense has reduced the injury and fatality rate on the border frontlines by two to three percent.”

“That much?” Lin Su blinked.

It seemed the Dark Demon Body was even more effective than he had imagined.

“If they train to greater mastery or perfection, these rates might decrease even further,” Xing Yun’s eyes flashed with envy. “Unfortunately, I can’t maintain the power released by the Black Cloud Stick for long or use it as effortlessly as I’d like, so I’m unable to train in the Dark Demon Body. Otherwise, with the strength boost from it, my power could increase even more.”

Lin Su blinked.

He suddenly remembered another purpose of his visit.

Clearing his throat, he said, “Instructor, if there were a way for you to gain greater strength, would you…”

“Absolutely!” Xing Yun grabbed Lin Su’s shoulders, “Tell me, what’s the plan?”

Lin Su: “…”
