Chapter 286: Shakar
Victor’s gaze fell upon the newest invader, feeling a deep sense of uneasiness move throughout his body. He could instantly tell that this man was strong.
’Master? So this guy must be the Shakar that the invaders were talking about.’ He thought inwardly.
His gaze moved to the battlefield as if to get confirmation, however only now did he notice that everyone had already lost consciousness due to their earlier fight.
He frowned deeply. Despite recently having a breakthrough, he could not see through this newcomers strength at all. Judging by how things were progressing, he did not see a way out of the current predicament.
“Who are you and why have you come?” Victor asked, his tone remained steadfast, portraying none of the fear or uneasiness that he felt.
The old man harrumphed, seemingly annoyed that he was asked to explain himself. That one noise sent a shockwave through the air, and arrived on the ground a few seconds later, sending dust and debris into the air.
Victor’s face fell as he experienced the sheer power from the nonchalant attack.
’I can not beat this person.’
He knew this for a fact. As long as this expert wished, he could destroy everyone here with a wave of his hand, turning everyone into dust.
Would their struggle end right now? What could he possibly do faced with an unreasonably strong opponent?
Victor suddenly experienced a feeling of disgust appear from within as he gazed down at his defeated foe. His everlasting pride refused to relent against an enemy he had already decided to kill, regardless of the consequences.
His Dragon blood pumped through his veins proudly, viewing the world through the lens of a superior being, a ruler of all things under the heavens.
If this old man’s arrival spelled the end of Earth and the Human Race, then why should he spare this ant underfoot? Why should he bow his head to these inferior species?
Victor’s body seemed to hum with power as his mind synchronized with the Dragon blood flowing through him. It was as if he was a beacon of light, shining gloriously within the darkness.
Without saying a word, he stomped down with his foot, causing the ground to cave in a few feet. A bone chilling popping sound rang out loudly as blood and brain fluid was flung into the surroundings.
COUGH
“NOOOOOOOO! YOU F*CKING DARE!?”
The old man floating high in the air suddenly coughed up a mouthful of blood as he saw his only disciple be crushed under the foot of the Dragonkin. He screamed out in pain and rage at the sight, almost not believing his eyes.
It was as if a switch flipped in his brain, causing a dreadful aura to permeate from his body and into the surroundings. The space surrounding him trembled, beginning to crack and fray from the sudden change.
The fabric of existence itself seemed to tear, creating a vacuum. Everything within the vicinity began to surge towards the void within the tears, disappearing into the nothingness beyond.
Victor could only watch on as the maelstrom of power erupted from the old man, yet there was only a satisfied smile on his face. Various thoughts went through his head, but they all finished with Dave and his sister.
He had met them at an orphanage when they were both little. Dave’s parents had been lost tragically in a car accident, while Sophie’s parents had abandoned her on the doorstep of the orphanage.
These two children then grew up and became inseparable. When Victor and his wife had found out they could not have children, they had visited the orphanage and came across the two misfits when they were only 7 years old.
His face turned up into a wry smile, remembering the chaos that those two had brought into their lives. While it was true that they were not his blood, he had treated them as his own children from the beginning.
Yvonne, his wife had passed away when the kids were 17 from an aggressive cancer, moving onto the afterlife ahead of them. Victor was crushed, yet Sophie and Dave were there to comfort him.
It was only because of these two kids that he was still alive today.
His gaze moved to Sophie who despite being unconscious was still holding her brothers cold body tightly. A few tears formed on the corner of his eyes, sliding down the black scales which now covered his skin.
“Let’s all meet again in the next life.” He muttered, about to accept his fate.
However, in the next moment his face twisted as he suddenly remembered that this bastard had destroyed Dave’s soul. Robbing him of the chance to reincarnate.
Victor felt as if his heart was ripped in two once more, feeling the pain and agony of losing a child for good. There was a madness that rapt on the door to his mind, trying to creep its way in.
His gaze turned to the corpse under his foot with pure unadulterated hatred. Despite his enemy being dead, he decided to stomp on the corpse repeatedly, each time causing the ground to tremor in response.
Suddenly, the thought of peacefully accepting his death was thrown out the window.
Shakar who was in a world of grief of his own, saw the desecration occurring on the ground and once again spat a mouthful of blood. His aura wavered as he felt the anger threaten to send him into Qi deviation.
“GRAAAAAAAAAA”
Victor roared out in defiance, making the space in the surroundings even more unstable. He pushed off the ground with great might, leaping towards the old man in the sky.
His eyes which had turned red after his metamorphosis, now glowed a deeper shade, giving off an ominous glint. The air whistled as he flew through the air, his sights locked onto Shakar in front of him.
Once more, Victor felt a burning sensation in his chest which threatened to swallow him whole. He felt as if he could control this flame of rage instinctively. It was as if something inside of him was telling him to use it.
“ROOOOARRRRRR!”
He gave into his instincts, sending the blazing flame out of his mouth in a devastating fashion. The flames were much darker than the previous ones he had breathed out, yet they still reflected in his black scales, giving off a beautiful yet dangerous luster.
The Dragons breath looked almost like liquid fire, yet its temperature seemed to defy logic itself. The oxygen within the air was instantly consumed, however the flames kept burning hotter as they flew towards the old man.
Finally, the old man seemed to calm down after seeing the attack thrown his way. Now that his anger was under control, he was able to better move around his Qi, no longer at risk of a Qi deviation.
“Hup!”
Shakar threw out a monstrous palm towards the approaching flame, his eyes calm yet overflowing with killing intent. It flew through the air and made contact with the Dragons breath.
The impact sent showers of destructive flames in every direction, causing the air to shudder and creak as the atmosphere was shredded to pieces.
There was a bit of a stalemate before the flames started to push the palm backwards, continuing its charge towards Shakar in the sky.
“Hmph!”
He harrumphed in response, sending out another 3 identical palms to the same position as his other attack. It goes without saying that the Dragons breath was pushed back, only to be dispersed by the final palm.
However that was not all. The remaining energy within the palms descended onto Victor who was still charging his way upwards fiercely.
Victor saw these attacks, yet he did not try to dodge them. The pressure was so great that it was as if he was being sucked into their gravitational pull.
Therefore he brandished his claws and attempted to strike through the attacks, hoping that it would be enough to at least disperse some of the damage.
CLANG
A loud sound rang out as his claws were easily knocked back by the attack. The palms then accelerated and landed directly on his scales before sending him flying back down towards the ground.
Upon impact, there was a flash of green before a sound similar to that of breaking glass was heard. Yet Victor had already lost consciousness by that time, being sent hundreds of meters away from the battlefield which he had been in earlier.
The old man watched on with a serious expression as Victor landed hard on the ground, creating a small tremor. There was no hint of happiness on his face, to the contrary, he still seemed just as pissed off as before.
“I’m going rip your scales off one by one before breaking every bone in your body. I will torture you until you beg for death!” He spat out before making his slow descent to the ground.
“GRAAAAAAAAAOUUUUUU”
Shakar stopped in place a moment later, feeling a shiver run down his spine at the deafening roar that was just released.
