Chapter 290: Where am I?
Jayce felt a chill run through his body causing him to shiver uncomfortably. His face turned up into a frown as he reached for the covers, his mind in disarray.
Yet after a few moments, his brain was suddenly startled as pieces of his memory began to coalesce, painting a larger picture. He sat up in an instant, opening his eyes wide and scanning the surroundings.
His eyes caught sight of a valley, blanketed in the blue of the moonlight. There were odd looking trees and plants scattered around, along with huge boulders which were likely once part of the cliff face.
Jayce moved his gaze up the sheer cliffs and felt his jaw drop from the utter shock of what filled his vision. Situated in the sky was 2 moons, looking at least double the size of the moon he could see back on Earth.
Not only that, they were also not the white color he was used to. The larger moon was a deep purple, giving off an ethereal glow, while the smaller moon was a light blue.
The two celestial bodies seemed close together, making him wonder if they would crash into each other and turn to dust.
“Where am I?” He muttered under his breath.
It was obvious that he was no longer on Earth, but he wasn’t sure just where he had been transported to. Was he safe here? Or was this a dangerous uninhabited world that he would have to survive alone on?
He had so many questions in his mind that he needed answering, however there was no one to ask. Jayce first needed to get his bearings and try to either find civilization, or locate somewhere to stay.
The easiest thing would probably be to fly into the sky so he could search the surroundings, however he didn’t want to risk drawing attention to himself in this unknown world.
While he was confident in his strength, this planet could potentially be filled with plenty of things stronger than himself.
After a while, he decided to move out on foot. He made a motion to retrieve his purple sword from the spatial ring, but then suddenly stopped in place.
’Argh F***!” Jayce cursed under his breath, remembering that he had given the spatial ring to Lianna in haste before he was removed from Earth.
He really should have taken the damn sword out before giving her the spatial ring.
So now he was unarmed in a completely new environment, unaware of the dangers that could be lurking within the shadows.
Thankfully, the two moons and cloudless sky provided a great source of light through the sprawling valley, eliminating some of the possible dangers. After a few moments, Jayce composed himself and decided to continue forwards.
He trudged along for the next couple of hours, moving deeper into the valley without finding anything of note. He was beginning to get a little thirsty, however someone of his realm was able to last for a long time without water.
It was only when he got closest to the exit of the valley where he saw some signs of fighting. Tongues of fire were thrown into the night sky, painting the surroundings with an orange hue.
Jayce saw what looked to be 3 humans fighting against a large lizard beast which looked similar to a salamander. However its body was over 10 meters long, yet its speed was out of this world.
The 3 humans consisted of a tall woman with brown skin and two men who looked like brothers or at the very least related. They both sported orange hair and fair skin and had broad shoulders.
There was one thing in common with all of these humans, they were all wearing a crimson robe with black lining, giving them a regal look.
The woman in the front was the one who was spouting fire from her hands wildly, keeping the salamander looking lizard from attacking the weaker brothers at the back. Jayce could feel the Laws of Fire being utilized by the woman with decent proficiency.
His eyes widened in appreciation as he watched her fight. It was clear that her cultivation was lower than the lizard, however her mastery of the Law of Fire was able to keep them on equal terms.
The two boys at the back had flashes of fear appear on their faces as they watched the woman keep the lizard at bay. It was clear that they would be useless in this fight.
“Run you idiots!” The tall woman at the front started to lose her composure at the attacks of the lizard. While her flames were enough to keep the lizard from attacking, she was starting to deplete her Qi reserves.
Her attacks were also not able to penetrate the scales of the beast, meaning that she would not be able to end the fight with her power alone.
“E-Elder sister! We can’t leave you.” One of the boys called out, his already pale white face turning a shade whiter.
“Hurry and get the Sect Elders! I’ll keep this beast in check until then.” The woman said with urgency and authority behind her voice.
However, as those words left her mouth the situation changed. The lizard dove into the air, dodging the stream of flames that the woman had thrown. Just as she was about to fire her next attack, the lizard spat out a glob of sticky liquid, forcing her to the ground.
She could only fall onto her back and look on with despair as the lizard fell towards her now immobile body with its disgusting maw open, ready to devour her.
Yet in the next moment, a figure suddenly appeared above the lizard, making her question if she was hallucinating.
BOOM!
The ground suddenly quaked sending those in the surroundings into shock. The two boys who had just decided to run away suddenly turned around in fright, however they could only see a cloud of dust that had been kicked up by the impact.
BANG
BANG
BANG
The ground shook another three times, forcing them to their backsides as a result. The two shivered in fear as they feared the worst for their Elder sister whom they could not see thanks to the dust cloud.
“We need to run and tell the Sect Elders now!” One of the boys finally snapped out of their trance, getting to his feet and running in the opposite reaction after picking his brother up.
Jayce waved his hand, trying to disperse the dust which had been kicked up into the air around him. He took one look at the lizard he had crushed under his fists earlier to ensure that it was dead before nodding in satisfaction.
It felt as if his Divine Body Arts had increased by leaps and bounds since receiving the baptism of the Heavenly Tribulation. It was as if his body was a blade and the Tribulation lightning was the hammer that hammered out all the impurities.
While he was looking at his fists covered with the dark red blood of the lizard, the dust in the surroundings began to disperse.
The woman who was still stuck to the ground suddenly opened her eyes wide, feeling breathless at the sight which had appeared in front of her. She saw a shirtless man standing over the now lifeless body of the strong lizard who had almost killed her just now.
His body seemed as if it had been meticulously carved from the purest white jade, painting a devastatingly beautiful yet dangerous visage.
While his muscles weren’t large, they were sleek and aesthetic, making him look like a god that had descended onto the mortal plain. She couldn’t assess his strength, nor did she want to try and risk offending him.
The man who was staring at his fists suddenly turned his gaze upon her, making her shiver unconsciously. Those clear blue eyes felt as if he could see right through her entire being, yet she sensed no malice.
“Are you okay?”
