Chapter 1058: Chapter 645: Immortal Spirit

This battle, as always, incurred heavy losses but yielded immense gains.

The losses need not be discussed further. Although advantage was taken of the favorable time and location, along with the boost from the upgraded Luotian Dajiao, when facing the concerted offensive of the Demon Abyss, the losses were still severe. Many heroes of epic legends perished, over half of the troops were either killed or injured, and even the Mingxiao Taoists suffered losses amounting to forty percent.

After all, this was an external conflict with no room for surrender or subjugation. The Demon Abyss Lords, driven to desperation, fought back fiercely in their final moments. Although it was a fight of trapped beasts, it resulted in mutual destruction, causing not insignificant losses to Xu Yang.

However, the war model of the Sky-reaching Tower and the Ten Thousand Demon Abyss operates on this principle: the greater the loss, the greater the gain.

Although there were few prisoners captured in this battle, the extermination of enemies provided massive experience and the spoils of war were also incredibly rich.

After the battle, all sixty thousand surviving Mingxiao Taoists were promoted to the rank of “True Man.” Although the overall number was reduced by forty percent, their strength increased several folds, creating an atypical quantitative and qualitative transformation.

The same was true for other troop types. Since the Hundred Battle Training Ground is a mythical structure and only has Second Order and Third Order troops—which could still use it but with diminished effectiveness—troops like the Yellow Turban Generals and Mages under Xu Yang who were of Third Order generally did not achieve full rank, which hampered their combat effectiveness slightly.

With this battle, ranks were completely filled, and overall strength increased rather than decreased compared to before the battle.

Aside from the troop types, the heroes also benefited greatly. Not only were their levels increased, some even made breakthroughs during the battle, gained many skills, enhanced numerous attributes, and saw significant strength improvements.

This was the gain from experience. As for the spoils of war…

Various weapons and equipment, along with all manner of items like Formation Books, Skill Trees, and Technology blueprints—essentially, anything one could think of. The millions of Demon Army and Lord heroes that perished could fully equip his heroes for a complete overhaul of weapons, equipment, and attribute skills.

These responsibilities were handled by others, so Xu Yang needn’t worry about them, focusing only on several Immortal Spirit items.

With his current strength, even Third Order Mythical items didn’t catch his eye much and were mostly given to his subordinates for use. It was only the Immortal Spirit items that were of significance to him.

In this great battle, there were nine Immortal Spirit Level Third Order items obtained, six of which were Jiu Panpo’s Secret Demon Divine Equipment, Shang Yinyang’s White Bone Heart Lock Hammer, and Shi Pi’s Asura Blade, Asura Armor, and Asura Seal—a three-piece set—combined with Shi Pi, the Demon Spirit Hero, totaling six Immortal Spirit items.

However, since these six items were Demon Objects, the Lords and heroes of the Sky-reaching Tower could not use them directly; they could only be offered to the Civilization Wonders in exchange for rewards, yet offering them might incur losses, so it was uncertain how many Immortal Spirit rewards could be obtained.

However, it was said that some high-level Lords had special civilization technologies and structures that could purify Demon Objects into Immortal Objects, which were far more cost-effective than offering, so these six Demon Spirit Treasures could also be auctioned at the Ten Thousand Treasure Pavilion as an alternative resource.

But these matters were for later; for now, let’s focus on the present.

Immortal Spirit Mount!

Within the Sky-reaching Tower, the mount is a very unique existence, somewhere between a hero and a troop.

To call it a hero, it lacks levels, and its rank is already fixed.

To call it a troop type, it holds a rank as refined as “Immortal Spirit.”

Not only is its existence special, but the boundaries defining a mount are also puzzling.

If defined by humanoid attributes, Ao Chi would also be a mount, so why is it considered a hero?

If defined by Spirit Wisdom, this 700-Intelligence Ink Qilin hardly seems like an unintelligent wild beast.

Or is it some other factors? If it was originally a mount in its original timespace, then does it retain that status in the Sky-reaching Tower?

It’s unknown and without basis. Xu Yang didn’t bother to delve too deeply, choosing to focus only on the utility of this mount.

As an Immortal Spirit mount, the strength of the Ink Jade Qilin goes without saying; it naturally possesses considerable combat abilities, can manipulate Cloud Cover and Rain, command Thunder Power, and provides its master with attribute enhancements and boosts to the Wind, Cloud, Water, and Thunder skills.
