Death... and me

Chapter 3319: A Moment Please

Zangeshu pondered a bit and asked Rean with his Divine Sense in the distance. 'Should we make something to the best of our abilities? We might get access to better knowledge if we start at a higher level, don't you think?'

Rean nodded. 'Probably. But I'm looking at the materials in the Spatial Ring, and the most I can make with these things is a Golden Level Formation. They are truly, truly simple materials.'

Zangeshu was taken aback, looking into the materials. He thought about it hard, but he definitely couldn't make anything better than a Silver Level Formation. He couldn't even understand how Rean would pull a Golden Level with these resources. 'Are you serious? How can you get these materials to sustain the energy flow of a Golden Level Formation?'

Rean faintly smiled. 'I do have a lot of experience working with limited resources, so it just comes naturally to me. Don't worry, you will get there. For now, just make a Silver Level formation. Preferably, make a Medium Silver Level. If you try a High Silver now, chances are the formation will collapse.'

Zangeshu didn't like to hear Rean's words. But then again, Zangeshu had indeed intended to focus on a Medium Silver Level when he analyzed the materials. It's just that hearing Rean saying he would fail if he tried anything higher bothered him. 'Hmph! Just wait until I catch up to you. Fine. Medium Silver it is.'

Rean felt like laughing, but didn't do so to not anger Zangeshu again. It was better for him to focus. Rean pulled the materials out, and after thinking about them for a moment, he nodded to himself. 'I guess a simple triple-layered Energy Gathering Circuitry Formation will do.'

And so, Rean began to work... or so one would expect. Instead, he sat on the ground and closed his eyes. No one knows what he was thinking.

Everyone else did start their work, though. The formation masters watching the exam went to an empty space in the middle, sitting there and closing their eyes. They didn't even bother to check if anyone was cheating, as everything inside this place was recorded. If anyone tried such a thing, they would be banned for good, and no one would take that risk. It was better to simply fail and try again next time.

Five hours later, the first formation was completed. It was a Spirit from the Guminos Race, a kind of Spirit that is usually born in swamps. He made a formation to purify Spiritual Water, a good formation, even if it was only in the High Bronze Level.

One of the supervisors of the exam got up, went to check the formation, tested it for a few minutes, and finally nodded to the Spirit. "Not too bad. You passed. You will receive a Bronze Formations Master Certificate in the system. Please go outside and finish the procedures at the counter."

The Spirit was delighted to hear that, Bronze Level already being his target from the start.

*Bang!*

Right after, a formation on one of the corners of the Spatial Controlled room burst, and shards flew everywhere. Fortunately, the room was also made to deal with such things. All the shards hit an invisible barrier before settling down in the area where the formation broke.

The Formations Master inside looked at that with a terrible expression. He was confident he could make a Medium or even High Bronze Level Formation from the materials, but he decided to risk it all and go for a Silver Medium Level. Unfortunately, he couldn't properly set the runes as the materials were too fragile, and the formation broke in the end.

Klian opened his eyes in the center of the room, and his voice echoed. "You still have seven hours, but you won't receive any extra materials to use. If you can still make a formation with what is left, you can start again. If not, you might as well leave and try again tomorrow. Of course, you will have to pay the exam fee again since these materials aren't for free."

The guy gritted his teeth and took one last look in the Spatial Ring. In the end, he sighed and shook his head. "I'll come back tomorrow. Fortunately, I gathered quite a bit of Divine Stones before coming." Then, he walked out of the room, disappearing outside. He would be back tomorrow.

The exam continued, and more participants finished their work... or failed to do it. At the ninth hour, Zangeshu finished his own.

Iago was the one to come forward to take a look at Zangeshu's formation. It didn't have any Divine Sense Runes, which was quite rare for Formations Masters. Nonetheless, he ignored that and paid attention to the formation and its functionality. "Not bad, not bad... It looks like a simple teleport formation at first, but from what I can see, you probably could teleport someone a few thousand kilometers away if there was another formation on the other side. And it even reached the Silver Level, which helps save Divine Stones."

Zangeshu nodded. The guy saw through his work easily. 'As expected of the Formations Masters in the Divine Realm, I guess.' He thought to himself.

Iago activated the formation, throwing a random item on it. A moment later, the formation activated, and the item disappeared. It didn't have a destination, so chances are it was caught in the fabric of space and was destroyed. Nonetheless, the fact it disappeared meant the formation was working. "Very good. You will be registered as a Silver Formations Master in the system. In fact, with your abilities, you probably could make a Golden Level formation if you had the right materials. But for that, you will have to take another test, which is more difficult. Ask the employees outside about the test if you feel like doing it later."

Zangeshu nodded. "Thank you." He quickly left after that, wanting to go look into the formations of the guild with his new credentials straight away.

Time passed, and Rean ended up as the last person in the room. Yet, he was still there, eyes closed, doing nothing.

Klian looked at him, narrowing his eyes. He had to wait the twelve hours according to the rules, but seeing Rean alone and doing nothing bothered him. There were still twenty minutes left, so he finally gave up and got up. "Kid, if you have no intention to participate in the test, then we will call it here."

"Hum?" Rean opened his eyes, looked around, and noticed everyone was gone. "Where is Zangeshu?"

"He finished his formation and left," Iago mentioned on the side, already organizing his things to leave with the other two supervisors of the exam.

"Tch... and here I was, waiting for him so we could finish it together..." Rean sighed. "Just give me a moment; I'm going to make the formation."

Iago, Klian, and Rower snorted. There was only twenty minutes left. Did he think he could

make a formation that fast... or at least that was what they were about to say. Yet, in the next moment, their jaws dropped to the ground.
