Chapter 3371 Didn't I?
"Shit!" Kentucky had to make quite a few fast maneuvers, dodging the various blocks that made the Mist Library while they rearranged.
*Zush, zush, zush...*
Rean, Roan, Rifindio, and Herbert also used their attacks to deflect many of the blocks. Still, quite a few hit Kentucky, making him almost lose his balance in the air. That was quite a complicated situation.
Fortunately for them, the rearrangement of the blocks didn't last much longer. The corridor they were in was still a corridor, although it was narrower this time. Above all, the blocks in the middle of the wall were now shining with colored light.
"Phew..." Kentucky sighed in relief, and he used the Instant Recovery to heal his injuries again. "Just what happened?"
"The Pyramid, the tower... or whatever it is now, has changed shape once again. We just so happened to be inside when that happened," Roan explained. Then, he looked at Herbert. It was his Centurion Ancestor who left the records about this place, after all.
Unfortunately, Herbert was as confused as the twins. "Don't look at me. There was no mention of the Mist Library changing shape to start with, let alone changing shape twice."
*ZinZinZinZinZin...*
At that moment, Herbert noticed something pulsating on his body. When he reached it, he pulled out his Blue Bookmark, the same one he used together with the other experts to open the passage inside the Pyramid, which changed into a tower shape at that time.
The Bookmark was pulsating with a gentle blue light, and it gathered the surrounding Starlight Energy as if it was communicating with it. Not only that, but that faint light also seemed to point in a specific direction.
The twins looked at Herbert, who scratched the back of his head. "I'm still confused. The records only said that the bookmarks were used to open the path into the Mist Library. They didn't mention anything about having other uses."
Herbert looked in the direction the light was pointing at, asking, "Should we follow?"
Yet, Kentucky was already taking flight in the opposite direction. "For what? More danger? We got what we came here for. Let's get the fuck out of here before more surprises appear."
"Agreed," Rean and Roan answered in a rare mutual understanding. There was still the source of Starlight Energy, but they didn't know if it really existed or not. "Herbert, if you want to go and check, we can simply part ways here. That's up to you."
Herbert was curious about what this was about, but he wasn't willing to die after finally acquiring his full cultivation technique, so he shook his head. "No need. Let's get out of this place."
With the group reaching the same conclusion, Kentucky made his way in the opposite direction. Every time there was a division of paths, they would look into the light of the Blue Bookmark, flying away from the pointed direction as best as they could.
That continued for over forty minutes until, finally, an exit appeared in the distance. They could see the bright starlight that they had seen when they first arrived and also the semi-transparent white plants and trees, exciting them. *Zush!*
Kentucky flew out of the building, quickly rising to the skies... or so he tried. Unfortunately, he didn't go much further before the whole area transformed. The bright starlight environment and the plant life instantly vanished. In their place, the same block structure appeared in front, showing they were still inside the Mist Library.
"Seems like we were lured into this place," Roan commented, narrowing his eyes and raising his guard.
Suddenly, a holographic screen appeared, followed by many others all over the place, showing in real time what was happening in various parts of the building.
On one of those screens, a few cultivators fell into a trap, being killed by a slaughtering formation. On another, the experts entered a treasure room just to be teleported away, now appearing outside of the huge structure. The treasure room then disappeared, another trap.
"Hey, it's Samalia," Rifindio pointed out.
They all looked in the direction of that screen and could see Samalia with her Mist Bookmark in her hands. Samalia did differently from the twins' group. Her bookmark pulsated and shined while pointing a direction to follow, and Samalia did exactly that. However, she, too, fell into another trap. They watched as Samalia and her group were killed one after another by the building itself. The blocks took various different forms, all attacking Samalia and her group. Her group seemed to suffer the worst fate of them all. That Red Bookmark had led her directly into this carnage.
Herbert glanced at his own Blue Bookmark, feeling a chill on his body. Had they followed the direction pointed by their Mist Bookmark, would they have ended in the same situation as Samalia?
As more and more of the experts fell into the traps, the screens closed. Some were teleported away, others were locked into place, others suffered serious injuries, and some simply ended up finding nothing and appearing outside the structure. Naturally, the worst cases were those who ended up dying. It looked more like a game of chance, a gamble. If you took the wrong turn...
"Should we leave this place?" Kentucky asked, seeing the various paths that led into the room they found themselves in. They didn't seem to be blocked.
*Zush, zush, zush...*
Then, three more experts appeared, flying on the back of a Flying Demon Beast. They also didn't know very well where they were going and ended up in this room by chance. "Herbert!"
One of them immediately recognized Herbert, ordering his Demon Beast to turn around and leave. There was no way he would stay alone with a Peak Space-Time Realm expert.
Yet, Roan narrowed his eyes, looking at the exit they intended to take. "I wouldn't go there if I were you."
That group obviously ignored Roan. Then, just as they were about to pass that exit...
*BANG!*
The walls suddenly closed on them at a speed that they couldn't react. Blood splattered everywhere, and the head of the Flying Demon Beast was smashed to bits. The cultivators survived as they were on the back of the flying beast, but their faces were pale, and they quickly jumped off the falling body of their companion. "Holy shit!"
"Hmph!" Roan snorted. "I told you, didn't I?"
