The next floor of the dungeon greeted them with an oppressive aura. The air felt heavier, and the ground was a cracked, ashen gray, littered with the remains of previous battles. The walls seemed alive, pulsating faintly with a deep crimson glow, as if the dungeon itself was fueled by malevolent energy. A chilling roar echoed through the space, signaling the arrival of a new wave of monsters.
Alex, Sakuya, and Luna stood at the ready, their expressions calm yet determined.
“I’ll go first,” Sakuya announced, stepping forward and unsheathing her twin katanas. The dark blades shimmered, one humming with wind energy and the other crackling with spatial distortions.
“Show us what you’ve got,” Alex said, crossing his arms and leaning casually against a jagged rock formation.
Luna grinned, plopping down on another rock with an exaggerated stretch. “Don’t take too long. My turn’s next.”
Sakuya didn’t reply, her focus entirely on the wave of monsters charging toward them. The horde was a grotesque collection of creatures—hulking ogres, skeletal beasts with glowing eyes, and serpentine monsters slithering across the floor.
Without hesitation, Sakuya dashed forward. Her speed was astonishing, a blur of motion that made it seem as though she had disappeared.
The first ogre swung its massive club, but before the weapon could make contact, Sakuya reappeared above it, both blades descending in a deadly arc. The wind-enhanced katana sliced cleanly through the ogre’s arm, while the spatial blade severed its head with a ripple that distorted the air around it.
“One down,” Sakuya muttered, landing gracefully and immediately dashing toward the next targets.
She moved like a dancer, her blades weaving through the horde with precision. The wind katana created gusts of slicing air, decapitating multiple skeletal beasts at once. Meanwhile, her spatial blade created portals mid-swing, allowing her strikes to bypass the monsters’ defenses entirely.
One serpent monster lunged at her from behind, its fangs dripping with venom. Without even looking, Sakuya slashed backward, opening a spatial tear that consumed the creature entirely.
“Efficient as always,” Alex remarked, watching with a small smile.
When the last monster of the wave collapsed into a heap of ash, Sakuya turned back to the group, twirling her blades before sheathing them. “Your turn,” she said simply, her calm demeanor belying the devastation she had just unleashed.
Luna jumped to her feet, clapping her hands together. “Finally!”
As the next wave of monsters emerged, Luna strode forward with a confident swagger, her golden gloves glinting.
This wave was even more fearsome than the last, composed of hulking golems, fire-breathing drakes, and swarms of bat-like creatures that filled the air.
“Alright, let’s crack some skulls!” Luna said, her voice brimming with excitement.
With a burst of light magic, she propelled herself forward, her fists blazing with holy energy. The first golem swung a massive stone fist at her, but Luna ducked effortlessly, countering with an uppercut that shattered its jaw.
“Too slow!” she taunted, spinning around and delivering a devastating roundhouse kick to another golem.
The bat-like creatures swooped down, but Luna was ready. She clapped her hands together, releasing a shockwave of holy energy that incinerated the entire swarm in an instant.
The drakes roared, spewing streams of fire, but Luna met them head-on, her golden gloves forming a shimmering barrier of water magic. The flames fizzled out harmlessly, and Luna leaped into the air, delivering a flurry of punches that left the drakes writhing on the ground.
“Who’s next?” she called out, her voice echoing through the dungeon.
When the last monster fell, Luna turned back to the group, her grin as wide as ever. “Not bad, huh?”
“Impressive,” Alex said, stepping forward. “But now it’s my turn.”
The final wave of the floor was the largest yet. Hundreds of monsters poured in, an overwhelming tide of claws, teeth, and malevolent energy.
Alex cracked his knuckles, a faint silver aura surrounding him. “Watch and learn.”
He didn’t draw a weapon. Instead, he raised his hands, summoning a swirling vortex of mana. The dungeon trembled as elemental energies converged around him—fire, ice, lightning, and more, all bending to his will.
With a flick of his wrist, Alex unleashed a storm of elemental attacks. Fireballs exploded among the monsters, engulfing them in flames. Spears of ice rained down, impaling dozens at once. Bolts of lightning arced through the horde, chaining from one monster to the next in a dazzling display of destruction.
The monsters tried to retaliate, but Alex was untouchable. He teleported from one side of the battlefield to the other, evading their attacks with ease.
At one point, he raised his hand, and the ground beneath the monsters erupted in a wave of molten lava, swallowing them whole.
By the time the wave was defeated, the battlefield was silent, save for the faint hum of residual energy.
Alex turned back to the girls, dusting off his hands. “That’s how it’s done.”
Sakuya and Luna exchanged a look, both shaking their heads with a mix of admiration and exasperation.
“Show-off,” Luna muttered, though she couldn’t hide her grin.
“You’re impossible,” Sakuya said, echoing her earlier sentiment.
Alex chuckled, gesturing for them to follow. “Come on. Let’s see what’s waiting for us on the next floor.”
As they descended deeper into the dungeon, the three of them moved with renewed confidence, ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead. Together, they were unstoppable.
The air grew heavier as Alex, Sakuya, and Luna stepped onto the next floor. The ground trembled faintly, and the oppressive atmosphere made it clear that the challenge ahead would be no ordinary encounter.
At the center of the vast chamber stood a monstrous figure—a three-headed ogre. Each head bore a distinct appearance and aura, representing three different elements: fire, ice, and lightning. The beast towered over them, its muscular frame covered in thick, dark armor-like skin. Each of its massive hands gripped a weapon—a flaming greatsword in one, a frost-covered axe in the other, and a crackling lightning mace in the third.
Alex crossed his arms and leaned casually against a nearby wall, a confident smirk playing on his lips. “This one’s all yours,” he said, nodding toward Sakuya and Luna. “Show me what you’ve got.”
The two women exchanged glances, a spark of excitement flickering between them.
“Don’t hold back,” Alex added, watching as the three-headed ogre roared, its elemental auras flaring menacingly.
“Who said anything about holding back?” Luna grinned, cracking her knuckles. Her golden gloves shimmered with holy light, the faint glow intensifying as she activated her buffs.
Sakuya unsheathed her twin katanas, the wind and spatial energies surrounding them humming with power. Her expression was calm and focused, but the gleam in her eyes betrayed her eagerness.
The ogre stomped forward, the ground shaking beneath its weight. It roared, each head releasing its respective element in a terrifying display. Fire erupted in a blazing inferno, ice shards shot like deadly spears, and arcs of lightning crackled through the air.
Luna was the first to act. She dashed forward, her speed blinding as she weaved through the elemental attacks with ease. With a powerful leap, she aimed a punch at the fire-headed ogre’s chest. The impact created a shockwave that sent the monster stumbling backward.
“Stay focused, Luna!” Sakuya called out, darting to the side and flanking the ogre.
The ice-headed ogre turned its attention to her, swinging its frost-covered axe with devastating force. Sakuya moved like a phantom, her wind-enhanced katana deflecting the blow while her spatial blade carved a deep gash into the ogre’s arm.
The lightning-headed ogre snarled, raising its mace to strike. Before it could land the blow, Luna intercepted it with a barrier of holy light. The mace rebounded, giving her the opportunity to deliver a crushing uppercut to the ogre’s jaw.
“One down,” Luna said with a savage grin as the lightning head sagged momentarily.
“Let’s keep it that way,” Sakuya replied, her voice steady as she targeted the ice head. With a series of swift, precise strikes, she severed one of the ogre’s arms, the frost axe falling uselessly to the ground.
The fire head roared in fury, unleashing a torrent of flames. Luna countered with a massive water-based attack, extinguishing the flames and dousing the ogre in a cascade of holy-infused water.
“Time to finish this,” Sakuya said, her katanas glowing brighter as she channeled her energy into a final attack.
Luna nodded, her gloves radiating golden light as she prepared her own finishing blow.
The two women moved in perfect synchrony. Sakuya’s blades tore through the ogre’s defenses, creating openings for Luna to deliver devastating punches to its core. Together, they overwhelmed the monster with a relentless assault, their combined elements creating explosions of light and energy that filled the chamber.
With a final, synchronized strike—a slash from Sakuya’s spatial blade and a crushing punch from Luna’s holy fists—the ogre collapsed to the ground, its massive body disintegrating into ash.
Alex clapped slowly, his smile widening as he stepped forward. “Impressive. You two make quite the team.”
“Did you ever doubt us?” Luna asked, smirking as she brushed ash off her gloves.
“Not for a second,” Alex replied.
Sakuya sheathed her katanas, exhaling softly. “What’s next?”
Alex gestured toward the next set of stairs that appeared at the far end of the chamber. “Let’s find out.”
