Dimensional Storekeeper

Chapter 191: This Was Definitely Team Building

Chapter 191: This Was Definitely Team Building

Customers came in, went straight to the shelves, grabbed what they wanted, walked up to him, and he scanned their products, received their crystals, and handed them their items back like some kind of well-oiled… human register.

Simple. Repetitive. Safe.

And he wasn’t complaining.

Still, one thing confused him.

The drawer.

He placed the crystals in, and – poof. Gone.

When he closed the drawer and opened it again, there was nothing inside.

Not even a glimmer.

A spatial array? Some high-level craftsmanship?

Maybe both. Probably both. The whole place was too mysterious to judge with regular logic.

And the store itself?

It wasn’t just “high-end.”

Calling it that felt insulting.

This place was exactly what it was meant to be. Premium. Unreasonable. And yet somehow, perfectly fair.

Every item cost crystals, sure. And at first glance, the prices felt absurd.

But after seeing a tired elder take one lick of the thing called ice cream and nearly tear up, or a sword cultivator sit back with a can of Peach Oolong Tea like he was having the best moment of his entire life – Yan Zhi got it.

Brother Hao was right.

Some things didn’t need selling.

You just had to let the product speak for itself.

And honestly?

That was kind of inspiring.

He even got excited when he thought a confused customer would need help with noodles.

Sadly, they already knew what to do.

Maybe tomorrow.

Just as the clock struck the end of his shift, a small figure hopped up behind the counter.

Mo Xixi.

With her arms folded and that bossy air all around her, a small grin kept sneaking onto her face no matter how hard she tried to hide it.

“How was your first shift, junior?” Mo Xixi asked, voice cool and mature, as if she hadn’t just raised her brows in excitement at having a junior for the first time.

Then, without missing a beat, she added. “Your little sister is still sleeping in my room.”

Yan Zhi blinked, a little flustered. Then bowed his head slightly.

“Thanks again… for letting Shu’er rest in your room, Lady Mo.”

He paused, and gave his honest answer.

“I think it went well. Brother Hao already taught me everything I need to do.”

Mo Xixi nodded wisely.

Standing on her toes, she reached up and landed two quick pats on Yan Zhi’s shoulder, a sign that he did well.

“Keep it up, junior.”

Her mouth twitched as if she was about to smile – then she caught herself and looked away, chin up.

Yan Zhi couldn’t help it.

He smiled too.

Night fell, and the storefront lights dimmed.

The “Closed” sign hung on the glass door.

On the second floor, however, a little group meeting was underway.

Hao had called everyone over – Tian Lu, Kurome, Mo Xixi, and Yan Zhi – all seated around the table with curious eyes.

He didn’t say it, but it was obviously not because he was too lazy to explain the same thing four times separately.

Definitely not.

This was about efficiency!

Team bonding!

Allowing everyone to ask questions together!

That was all.

Nothing to do with not wanting to repeat, “This command does this.” four times in a row. Nope.

It just made more sense this way. If they all knew how it worked, they could even help each other.

Pass info around. Strengthen teamwork. A perfectly reasonable, store-owner decision.

Hao had it all thought out.

He went through a full rundown – demonstrating every feature of the new AirBuds.

How to use voice commands.

How to transmit sound directly to another person.

How to mute background noise, adjust volume with a flick, and even receive Hao’s voice directly during work if needed.

By the end of the Hao’s speedy explanation, each of them had a white case in their hand.

“And that’s all its uses.” Hao said with a shrug, as if he’d just finished showing them how to use a broom.

“Pretty useful thing, right?”

“…”

Silence.

Well, stunned silence.

Tian Lu raised a brow.

Kurome’s ears twitched.

Mo Xixi blinked twice, and barely hiding how impressed she was.

Yan Zhi, meanwhile, looked like he’d just been handed a divine artifact wrapped in plastic.

None of them said anything right away, but the equal blend of awe and disbelief hanging in the air said plenty.

Another ridiculous, high-end, out-of-this-world piece of tech – handed to them like a casual accessory.

Just another day at the Dimensional Convenience Store.

Tian Lu and Mo Xixi didn’t wait a second.

The moment they got the AirBuds, snap – straight into their ears.

On the other hand, Yan Zhi was still staring at his pair.

His fingers traced the smooth surface. Honestly, if he got any closer, he might’ve kissed it or rubbed it against his cheek.

That’s when he felt a presence near him.

The Great Cat God, Kurome, sat calmly just a few steps away, watching with her usual ancient, unreadable gaze.

Should he… help her wear them?

He hesitated.

But Kurome tilted her head ever so slightly, her eyes narrowing with just a touch of concern – was the boy worried about her?

’Do not fret, Little Yun. I am quite capable.’

A shadow curled from beneath her paw, fluid and dark.

It rose like smoke, then formed a neat, graceful hand.

Each AirBud floated upward and gently settled into her black-furred ears.

A faint shimmer passed over them, adjusting size and shape in an instant.

Perfect fit.

Yan Zhi blinked.

Then paused.

Wait – why were the others staring at him?

Tian Lu, Mo Xixi, and even Kurome had their heads slightly turned.

They were waiting.

For him.

Warmth rose to Yan Zhi’s cheeks. His ears turned a bit red.

“Ah – right! Sorry!”

He rushed to pop the AirBuds in his ears, nearly dropping one in his hurry.

The others gave small smiles.

No teasing. Just that kind of quiet, easy acceptance.

And just like that, Yan Zhi felt it –

He wasn’t just working here anymore.

He was part of the team!

Hao sat slouched in his chair, arms folded , head tilted down like he was deep in thought.

One eye closed.

The other? Just barely open.

Just a peek. The faintest slit.

Look at that harmony.

That bonding.

That heartwarming team moment right there?

Clearly the result of his careful planning.

Genius-level execution.

This? This was all part of the master plan.

A true visionary.
