Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 4217: Absorbing the Chaos-Destruction Pill?

"ARGHHH!!!"

Davis grabbed his throat with his two hands and lost his footing, causing him to fall to his knees and scream at the top of his lungs.

Tina, Dalila, and Myria yelled out in shock as they rushed towards him. However, they didn't know what to do, freezing on the spot.

What would happen if they forced the pill out? Has the essence already started releasing?

"AAAAAAAA-aaaaa-"

Davis's scream suddenly deflated, and he displayed the palm that still held the chaos-destruction pill.

He stood up as though nothing happened and made the pill disappear and reappear as it switched places with another pill.

It was an ordinary energy restoration pill.

"How is my sleight of hand? Was the magic trick good?"

He flipped his palm back and forth, causing the pills to interchange every single time.

Myria, Dalila, and Tina started taking deep breaths, their bosoms heaving. For the first time, they felt like killing him with their own two hands by shoving the pill into his mouth, except Myria, of course, since she had already tried to kill Davis more than a few times.

"Is this funny to you?" Tina looked glum, "You already made Dalila cry just a while ago. Why are you doing this?"

"So that you three don't actually react like this when I swallow the pill for real."

Davis closed his palm and reopened it as he displayed it to them. The chaos-destruction pill disappeared.

His answer made them speechless, but he continued.

"More than likely, the result of swallowing this pill simply wouldn't be clenching my neck and screaming in pain- no, I would simply explode into oblivion if I failed. I'm not stupid enough to pop it into my mouth right now, and definitely not in front of you all. I'm gonna take it when you least expect it, and by the time you think that I still hadn't taken it, I would've already been done with it."

"…"

Hearing his explanation, the three of them couldn't help but realize what he was trying to do. They were indeed worried about whether to even give him the pill now or not, but they believed he could overwhelm any odds. So they had chosen to give him and let him decide.

However, they were still going to warn him and still couldn't help but be worried, so they were going to tell him to consume it when they were there for him. Perhaps with dual cultivation, they could help lower the side effects somehow.

Although none of them practiced chaos or destruction, Tina was confident that with her new foundational seed created to blossom the Five Elements Physique, she could help the slightest bit. At the very least, it should act as a balance and save him from having his body explode.

After all, Chaos is said to be a primordial source, boundless, formless, and undifferentiated, yet within its endless turbulence is the foundation of all Laws, finally ending in Destruction when its form collapses. This cycle is said to be eternal, yet within it exists a perfect equilibrium— a force that prevents annihilation and ensures continuous longevity!

It is at the heart of the balance between the two opposites— called the Five Elements. It is the perfect form of diffusion and re-fusion. They split from the whole of Chaos into Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, and Water, and finally, they re-merge into a unified state before being refined into a harmonious state. It was said to be the most refined form of chaos, but it was mainly known as a grand balancer that allows the cosmos to remain in harmony.

Hence, Tina's plan to safeguard Davis using her soul could be said to be viable.

However, it seemed like he expected them to take such a route that he went ahead and acted like he was going to die in order to show them what was going to come, and there was no use worrying over it.

Still, they glared at him in anger, wishing he wouldn't be so brazen.

If it was Davis, they really did think he might try to swallow the chaos-destruction pill like that because they had seen him cultivate in a self-harming manner. It was like he had little to no limits on how to treat his own body and soul.

Sure, cultivators did tend to hop on a do-or-die choice, but that was when things were dicey or had hit rock bottom, and living felt worse than death. However, he tended to take that route as if it were just another path for him. They knew learning Life Laws and possessing a perpetual immortal soul just made it worse since he was even more brazen on this path and had little regard for his life.

"Don't look at me like that." Davis raised his hands in surrender.

"I'll admit my wrongs if even one of you can admit that you were not worried sick about me using this pill and tried to form some stupid plan that involved using your own body or soul."

"…" Tina and Myria.

"What do you mean stupid?" Dalila retorted, her eyes teary.

"You also had a plan?" Davis looked shocked at her.

Indeed, Davis already knew what Tina and Myria could be thinking, but he had not expected Dalila to come up with a method of her own.

With Tina's mindset, he was sure she would be the self-sacrificial type. He already foresaw her trying to do something like using her soul but didn't have confirmation. Regardless, he wouldn't dare use her soul to withstand the terrifying force of the clash between chaos and destruction as he calculated that her soul could collapse from the impact.

After all, all that energy needs an outlet to be discharged, and he feared that it would become Tina's soul.

This would be no different than an overbearing dual cultivator using his women as human cauldrons.

The same thing could be said for Myria. Although she might not prevent the explosion and cause the body to implode, together, their souls would not implode since they would reach the ultimate harmony between life-death and reincarnation.

They would be able to save their lives even if they lost their bodies. Although their souls were perpetual individually, it was not unkillable. There was no telling what kind of harm the fused form of chaos and destruction could cause.

However, joining bodies together through dual cultivation would be like the ultimate defense they could project for their souls.

As for Dalila, he had no idea what she would do.

"You're so hateful. I'm not telling!"

Dalila yelled out and cried in his arms after he embraced her to comfort her.

He knew this was not the best of days to deal with a sensitive Dalila, so he didn't ask for more information. However, he was impressed that she was able to come up with something even if didn't work. He felt some pride over it as he hugged her.

Regardless, he was not welcoming of the idea of using his lovely wives to withstand the terrifying force of chaos and destruction.

For that, he already thought of a few ways.

After consoling Dalila, he made them sit and made them understand that they should not interfere with the absorption of the chaos-destruction pill anymore.

Tina and Myria tried convincing him to accept their help, but it was of no use.

He remained adamant that he would not take the pill if they continued wanting to be a part of it. They even threatened that they wouldn't make pills anymore, causing Davis to inwardly cry, but told them to go ahead and stop.

That brought them to a standstill before Tina and Myria finally pulled back and let him do what he wanted.

"Don't worry. I will ask for help if I really need it. I'm not a man who will refuse a drop of water when parched to the extreme."

Finally, he could only placate them and give them reasons to trust him more on this matter. Evidently, he was able to make them not worry too much.

He then changed the topic and talked about a lot of other things related to overall growth and family affairs before finally offering some advice in regard to the gradual invasion of Heaven's Warriors.

After sending them away, he returned to his seclusion chamber and took out the chaos-destruction pill as he began to research how to refine and absorb its essence most optimally and safely.
