Chapter 4387: Fat Underground Boss
"Who the hell are you?"
The fat man, clad in black robes, narrowed his eyes as he saw the white-robed woman take the lead.
He could tell the other party unleashed undulations at Level Three Empyrean Stage, which was one level higher than his own. Still, even if their prowess was the same, he was not afraid since he had many life-saving measures in his highly curvaceous body, which looked like a double patty burger in Mingzhi's eyes.
"Yotan."
"Who cares about your name? I'm asking which power you are from so that I can trample on them like I'm going to do to you. You dare break into my, the Obsidian Tang's turf!?"
"More like the Obsidian Toad's turf~" Mingzhi interjected.
"You!-"
Obsidian Tang looked stumped, unable to believe their audacity.
No one had ever behaved like this in front of him for a long time. It made him somewhat cautious, making him wonder what their background was, but with the black-robed woman's cunning mouth, he didn't think she was from anywhere regal or powerful.
"Oh well- I'll determine who you are after I trap you in my cellar and then sell you all back to your powers."
Obsidian Tang's eyes had crystal signs in them.
He launched himself at Yotan.
Unlike his figure, he appeared to be extremely fast. He stomped on the ground, breaking it and rushing towards Yotan.
Yotan raised her brows.
She didn't expect him to take the battle to close quarters while her cultivation base was higher.
Regardless, she didn't increase her power right off the bat.
She raised her hand, drawing a rune. One, two, and three inscription. She drew a basic light inscription that shines, enveloping an area. Second, she drew an inscription to seal whatever was inside the light field. Third, she strengthened the light field of the first inscription, allowing it to have considerable durability even against a Mid Stage Autarch, making them all in a single second before compiling them into a rune.
Actually, it was done even faster than a second.
By the time Obsidian Tang noticed, his eyes went wide as he was encased in a light field.
He smashed his fist against it, intending to break it, but it was as though he met a terrifying mountain.
*Bang!~*
His knuckles cracked and his wrist bent, but his body withstood the shockwave of his punch, allowing him to come out nearly unscathed.
"What?"
Obsidian Tang roared.
For a moment, he couldn't believe he was trapped here and punched out again, this time, his fists turned black. He released a flurry of punches as his fat body shook like sea waves. However, no matter how many punches he landed against the light field that trapped him, he was unable to escape.
"How can a spirit formation be this powerful!? Fuck! You dirty bitch. You secretly used a High-Level Empyrean Grade Sealing Talisman, didn't you!?"
Obsidian Tang roared, sending out his last punch and managing to send a very minute ripple through the light field. However, he gasped for breath, seemingly using up nearly thirty percent of his energy in that flurry of punches. He didn't dare to hold back, but even his full power seemed useless, causing him to whip out a talisman.
At the center, a sword-shaped rune was drawn, combined with many other inscriptions that connected with the sword.
"Heh! To make me use of my Piercing Sword Talisman, I swear I'll make you regret it one day."
He injected his energy, activating it.
Yotan narrowed her eyes. Her focus was on the talisman.
She vaguely comprehended it at that instant, causing her to draw the same rune.
*Bzzz~*
A sword light manifested!- on both sides.
Obsidian Tang's eyes went wide in shock. He unleashed the Piercing Sword Talisman, only to find it destroyed when it made contact with the light field. It was unable to damage it. However, the sword light that the white-robed woman created directly pierced through the light field and impaled him.
Looking down, he saw that it had pierced through his dantian.
His eyes trembled, full of fear.
"Wh-Who are you?" His chubby face trembled as he looked at Yotan.
But before he could even receive an answer, another sword light zoomed towards him.
He quickly abandoned his body, fleeing. The light field was destroyed, so he was able to leave. Moreover, Autarchs could flee with their souls after separating from their bodies.
However, the sword light directly pierced through the soul wisp, killing him in one silent blow.
Obsidian Tang couldn't even release a roar of despair.
Yotan stopped creating another Piercing Sword Rune that she was about to activate if he had escaped her second attack. She flicked her finger, dispersing it.
"Yotan of the Reaper Soul Legion."
Yotan softly uttered, "You would do well to remember that in your next life so that you don't do any evil."
*Clap~* *Clap~* *Clap~*
Mingzhi clapped enthusiastically, "How amazing, little sister. The speed of your rune arts is really unmatched from what I've seen. Even Sophie wouldn't compare."
"How can that be?" Yotan disagreed with a smile, "Elder sister Sophie's runes require extreme complexity, unlike mine, since she works with armaments and constructs. It would be difficult to create them with the speed I'm creating. If it's just combat runes, elder sister Sophie would be easily able to make them like I did."
"No way." Mingzhi shook her head, "Even if I'm not knowledgeable with runes, I learned the basics on inscriptions and runes, and even advanced lessons on inscriptions. I know you worked hard with studying runes, able to create, connect, and fuse them freely on a high level with extreme speed. Don't be so humble. Otherwise, I would get angry~"
"…"
Yotan didn't know what to say. She really did think what she said.
But in Mingzhi's eyes, what she seemed to have done appeared to be amazing, which made her happy.
After dealing with the loot, the two of them then headed to their destination.
Mingzhi and Yotan descended into the mountain's shadowy depths, their robes trailing faint light across the jagged pathway.
The entrance to the cellar was well-concealed. It was just a narrow crack between moss-laced boulders, but Mingzhi's spiritual sense easily pierced through its meager concealment. Her pupils glowed faintly with her soul sense as she scanned the entrance.
Yotan also did the same.
Compared to Mingzhi's, Yotan's soul sense was like a layer of silk brushing against the skin. Both their sensory techniques were top notch, but Yotan's was way better when it came to not flipping someone's senses to their probing maneuvers.
"There," she pointed, "a five-layered formation, embedded into the cave walls. One illusory, two trapping, one detection, and one explosive retaliation seal. Probably linked to the storage keeper deeper in."
Mingzhi nodded.
She directly walked through them, making Yotan gawk as her lips parted.
Wasn't she worried that she would make an alarm go off and the storage keeper would rather choose to burn the commodities than get caught?
However, as Mingzhi walked past the arrays, Yotan saw that she didn't flip any alarms. In fact, none of the formations even reacted to her presence.
"Incredible…"
Yotan instantly could tell that she was using twilight energy to conceal herself. She could see a faint layer of black-white energy flowing over her skin. Yotan couldn't tell what kind of intricacies were involved in being able to fool the senses of heaven and earth. It was almost like she didn't exist, but clearly, she was still able to see her.
The juxtaposition of twilight made her heart race, wondering if she could ever understand it in her lifetime.
'It's something only someone with her mutated physique would be able to do… I haven't heard even the Eternal Twilight's Daynight Family people capable of being able to extricate themselves from being recognized by the myriad of energies present in the universe…'
Yotan imagined, full of admiration for Mingzhi.
Back then, she knew Mingzhi was just a mortal with no contact with cultivation, yet she made so many advancements. Of course, she may have had many opportunities, but to grasp it and make it theirs was truly what made the person.
Yotan didn't follow Mingzhi inside.
She waited since she would trip the alarms if she wandered inside. Of course, she knew she would be able to disarm the formations, but it would take more time than-
'She's already back…'
Yotan smiled wryly as she saw a black-robed woman come out with a little child in her arms.
She was clad in a white robe that had no pattern or embroidery. It was plain as though it was used for a peasant, even dirty. Her hair was a combination black-purple. However, she seemed to be sleeping.
"Is she fine?"
"Yes, she's just malnourished. Bastards didn't even treat her with food, considering she's their merchandise…"
Yotan felt angry.
She then destroyed the formations, hunted down the enemy forces, and freed whoever was inside, since they had already killed their leader. She also made sure to drop her name and background.
Without wasting another moment, they decided to return.
