Dragon Genesis: I Can Create Dragons
Chapter 313: W-What sort of magic is that!?Chapter 313: W-What sort of magic is that!?
“Matriarch!”
In the Elders Hall, where the Matriarch and other Elders were waiting for Kayden to bring Kael and Lavinia, a man barged in with urgent news.
“What is it?”
Morvain questioned. She didn’t particularly mind the rude behavior. Not many cared about etiquette and such things in Ashen Heights anymore.
“I-It’s the Young Patriarch! He and the Hero are about to duel each other in the Sparring Ground!”
“What!?”
Morvain’s mouth twitched.
“No wonder they were late!”
“We should have expected this.”
“I was hoping that brat would hold himself back and act responsibly for once.”
The Elders started commenting, all shaking their heads with defeated sighs. Not for a moment did any of them blame Kael for the situation. Every single one of them knew who proposed it.
“Who does he take after to be like that? His father was such a great leader, his mother is no exception—how come their child ended up like that?”
The Elders sighed, and the more they spoke, the more Morvain’s eyebrow twitched in annoyance.
That little brat…
To think he would bully the Hero on his first day—just what was he thinking!?
“Let’s go, we need to stop that brat before he creates a bigger mess.”
Draksis, the Leader of the Forge, sighed as he stood up.
“Ready a Healer. The Hero is going to need it.”
He passed the order.
“A-As you command!”
The one who had just informed the Council nodded as he rushed out again to get the Healer.
Draksis stared at the rest of the Elders and nodded at them. The Matriarch nodded as well, and they all rushed towards the Sparring Ground.
“That brat has a hard time holding back. We need to stop him before things get out of hand.”
Korvath, the Commander of the Watch, spoke with a grim look on his face. As the military leader, he had trained Kayden ever since he was a child. Knowing it was a one-on-one battle without any Bonds, Korvath knew what sort of absurd advantage Kayden held.
If the Hero was allowed to use his Dragon, things could still be manageable. But without his Bonds… it was a one-sided battle.
“The Drakthar Princess is there as well, isn’t she? She seemed quite reasonable. She might have taken control over things.”
Aelindra, the Warden of Provision, muttered in an unsure tone.
“If she took control, things wouldn’t have gotten so far. They are already sparring. That brat won’t hold back once he is on the sparring grounds. We need to get there as quickly as possi—shit. It already began.”
Korvath replied as he rushed forward. Soon, however, his eyes fell on the crowd in front of him, and his face turned solemn.
“Kayden! Go for it! Show the foreigner who’s the boss!”
“Don’t go easy on him!”
“Hahaha! He looks so small! This won’t end well!”
“Yes! This is going to be interesting! It’s been a while since we beat down a foreigner, hasn’t it!? Last time it was that merchant’s guard who came 15 years ago! Hahaha!”
“Yeah! I missed that one and regret it to this day! This is why I came here as soon as I heard the news!”
The crowd cheered in excitement as they surrounded the Sparring Ground.
“No, they wouldn’t talk like this if it had begun! They must not have started yet—we can still stop this!”
Tarevian, the Voice of the Commonfolk, spoke urgently as he tried to increase his speed and stop whatever was happening, but suddenly—
Someone grabbed him.
It was Nymeris, the High Chronicler.
Her crystal-clear eyes stared at Tarevian and,
“Wait.”
She ordered.
“But Lady Nyme—”
Tarevian tried to reason, but suddenly,
“We will stop it when things get out of hand. Things have already advanced this far, so let’s observe for a while.”
Morvain ordered.
“Just make sure the Healer is here.”
“Y-Yes, Matriarch.”
Tarevian nodded as he sent his men to make appropriate arrangements.
The entire Iron Council mixed into the crowd. When the people saw their leaders gathering, they quickly made space for them, allowing them the clearest view.
None of them had seating available—the members of the Iron Council were no exception. They all observed the match on their feet, and seeing how not many people reacted to this sight, it was clear that this wasn’t an uncommon occurrence.
“They are finally here.”
On the other side, on the Sparring Ground, Kael, who noticed Morvain and the others’ arrival, smiled lightly.
“Hahaha! I am impressed, Hero! Your small body makes you faster and allows you to dodge incoming attacks. You know your strength and use it well. As one would expect from the Hero!”
Kayden laughed heartily.
And Kael…
He stared at Kayden and suddenly—
“I told you before,”
He disappeared.
“!?!”
Kayden’s eyes widened in surprise as suddenly, he heard a voice from behind.
“I am taller than you.”
Flicker
Kael spoke as he removed Kayden’s coat, revealing his well-built but much smaller body.
“Now that feels better.”
Kael nodded in satisfaction. Kayden wasn’t particularly muscular—his body was on the leaner side, similar to Kael’s—but since he was about two inches shorter than Kael, with his coat gone, he now looked much smaller than him, and that made Kael feel better.
It was annoying to be called small by someone who was smaller than him.
“You…”
Kayden, on the other hand, couldn’t believe what had just happened.
He…
He couldn’t react to Kael’s movements at all!
’No! I can’t lose focus!’
He muttered inwardly as he punched forward, aiming directly at Kael’s face.
But just as he was about to land a hit,
Kael disappeared and reappeared a few meters away from him.
’What!?’
Kayden’s eyes widened in shock.
If this was a mistake before, now, he was sure!
This man!
He disappeared and reappeared at another place in the middle of the battle!
He… he teleported!!
“W-What sort of magic is that!? I do not see any circles!?”
Kayden shouted in disbelief, and Kael…
He just smiled.
After all, this was just the beginning.
He was planning to test out all his skills, starting with—
