It wasn’t just the Army Guards deployed on the ground.
The Flying Dragon Battalion in the sky felt the invisible control of the Celestial Chessboard too. They were the pieces with the greatest mobility on the board, the key players capable of tearing through the enemy ranks!
Printed palm lines cast a shadow over the clouds, and in turn, the clouds mirrored the Chessboard. All living beings seemed to fall into the hands of the chess master, Zheng Yu. His eyes, calm and cold, were devoid of any emotion as he looked over the approaching Ming God Army, who moved as if walking on eaves and walls.
“Li Chuan is not your wanton hunting ground!”
“This is where you will be laid to rest, turned to ash and smoke!”
…
The undulating terrain of Long Gorge, despite its steepness and dangerous nature, posed little obstacle to the Ming God Army with their cultivation bases.
They easily crossed the mountain barrier previously set up to resist the Rui Country army and shattered the rudimentary hills piled up with stones with just a few punches.
Rocks flew chaotically, the earth trembled, and some members of the Ming God Clan even laughed among themselves.
“The rocks of Supreme Court are like powdered snow, a mere sweep turns them to dust, they can’t withstand a slap or punch from us,” said a muscular and tall God Clan member with disdain.“Forget about rocks and earth, the Army Guards of the mountain fortress we just encountered were less fierce than the dogs we threw out of the city. I’ve never fought such an effortless battle. I wonder if the delicate beauties of this place can withstand our rough handling!” a portly God Clan man remarked.
“Such words from a God’s person are revolting! How can you, a noble descendant of deities, engage with those lowly women of the Lower Realm? To let the noble blood in your vessels flow into such filth is blasphemy against the deities!” a woman in a red robe spoke arrogantly and disdainfully.
“Do not get sidetracked, and don’t forget our mission!”
“Of course I haven’t forgotten!”
“Ming Lianjie, there’s an army formation ahead. You and these lewd fellows take a squad and destroy it, leaving a few alive. I want to question them,” the woman in the red robe ordered.
“As you command!” Ming Lianjie responded, though a touch of dissatisfaction rose in his heart.
As a God’s Descendant, he should have been one of the leaders in the great Ming God Army.
However, his resounding defeat in the earlier contest had tarnished his reputation, demoting him to a mere vanguard, and now many in the Ming God Army didn’t take him seriously.
This time, during the raid on Li Chuan, he, Ming Lianjie, was determined to regain his former glory and command the respect of all!
…
Ming Lianjie, leading those foul-mouthed fellows, moved as if flying along the eaves and walls, practically racing ahead. The thousand-strong God Army lagged a lot. In a bid to demonstrate that his strength was far beyond what he had shown in the arena, Ming Lianjie, not caring about the army behind him, charged straight towards the hills of Wasted Mountain!
“Around these great hilltops, there seem to be four to five thousand people,” one God’s person remarked.
“As a member of the Hundred Mighty, I can obliterate the entire hilltop garrison with a single punch!” Ming Lianjie said coldly.
His foot on the cliff’s edge, he leaped across the gorge in front of him, his fist building up a tremendous force, like a massive eye of the wind, stirring the surrounding air currents, causing wild winds to swirl in reverse through the Long Gorge!
“Inverse Wind Fist!”
As Ming Lianjie yelled, he swung his right fist in midair. Instantly, a tumultuous inversing windstorm swept toward the hilltop tower.
The trees in the mountains were uprooted, sand and stones were sent flying from the ravines; his punch unleashed a wind disaster, wreaking havoc and destruction across the wasteland!
Even from a distance, one could see the violent windstorm stirred by his punch stripping the forests around the hilltop tower bare.
However, that hillock stood still, unflinching, and the Army Guards surrounding it were like figures in chainmail armor. Their bodies swayed to the rhythm of the wind, yet not a single one was swept into the sky, nor was any injured.
The entire hillock and the Army Guards were as solid as a massive boulder, and even as the force of the punch dissipated completely, they still stood their ground.
“Avalanche Arrow Curtain!”
Suddenly, a voice rang out in the clouds.
From the towers behind the hillock, arrows enveloped in ice shot to the sky in a symphony of twanging bowstrings, and beneath the clouds, a terrifying mountain of ice arrows took shape.
As the arrows fell with alarming speed, they resembled the terrifying sight of an avalanche!
“Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh, whoosh, whoosh!!!!!!”
Wave after wave of arrow curtains made the avalanche-like scene in the sky even more magnificent!
Though Li Chuan had no frost or snow, some of the mountain peaks in Qi Xia were covered in snow, and mountains, earth, snow, wind, fire, and rain were all forces that could be borrowed from the board of heaven and earth.
These ice-crafted arrows might lack the sharpness of iron arrows, but the effect of the collapsing snow and ice posed a greater threat to those Martial Artists with a Cultivation Base!
The Five Elements Master exerted power not through Cultivation Base, but through the advantages of the right time, place, and overwhelming numbers!
Numbers were key, and atop Qi Xia in Li Chuan, the army numbered two hundred thousand!
The shocking torrent of arrow-induced avalanches seemed like the sky itself was falling, and upon witnessing this scene, the Martial Artists of the Ming God Clan revealed looks of terror, as the same question surged in everyone’s heart: Could Li Chuan harbor such a powerful Five Elements Master??
“Quick, take cover!”
Ming Lianjie shouted at all the God’s people behind him.
The avalanches filled the deep ditches and valleys of the gorges. Members of the Ming God Army who walked on walls and roofs were submerged by the heavy snow and ice arrows!
The terrain froze over, and while the Martial Artists with bodies as tough as metal might withstand slashes and stabs, they found the bone-chilling cold unbearable, especially since they were only wearing half their clothes. Their skin turned purple as it intimately contacted the icy arrows, and their bones stiffened significantly!
…
In the wilderness of Qi Xia, Zhu Minglang heard the noise of war and hesitated no more.
“Extinguish the Ming God Clan!”
At Zhu Minglang’s command, dozens of King Level Realm Experts soared into the sky at incredible speed. Some rode Giant Dragon Kings, while others possessed the ability to fly on their own.
They did not boast an impressive military might, yet each one of them was a master of unique skills, filled with a terrible intent to kill!
Zhu Minglang summoned his Azure Phoenix Green Phoenix Dragon and flew to an elevation level with the clouds.
From this vantage point, he could see the members of the Ming God Army trapped within Wasted Mountain, clearly unaware that they were being pincered by both Zhu Minglang and Zheng Yu!
A pure ambush might not guarantee victory, as the Ming God Army also had quite a few King Level Realm Experts among them.
But, like now, a combination of ambush and pincer attack made a world of difference. The Ming God Clan was apparently still deceived by the false impression given by several fortress cities, thinking that the Supreme Court Courtyard Continent’s Li Chuan was an easy opponent.
Moreover, when the people of the Ming God Clan saw powerful figures emerging behind them, their faces were filled with disbelief.
How could the first invaders of the Supreme Court, the Xuange Divine Country, appear behind them???
