Grimsight fell silent for a moment. "I will think about it. I promise."

Killshot smiled and nodded. "I know you will," she said. "Anyway, I think we better get out before they get curious about what we’re talking about here. Can’t let the Storm God learn of our talks."

"Does he know you’re trying hard to stop the war?" Grimsight asked.

"He should know an opposition is forming, but I can’t confirm if he knows I’m part of it or not," Killshot said. "Hell, I wouldn’t be surprised if he comes asking me to be on his side. But then, he would probably start asking questions about what we talked about, and I don’t want that. Hiding things from them is already difficult enough."

She began walking toward the door, a flurry in her steps. Grimsight simply watched her leave, doing nothing to stop her.

Just as she reached the door, however, she stopped and turned around. "Actually, I wanted to ask you something," she said.

"About what?"

Killshot stared at him for a long time before bringing out the question. "You lied, didn’t you?"

Grimsight waited for more information.

"About the reason you didn’t become a God. You lied to Dustvenom, didn’t you?" she asked.

Grimsight took a moment and nodded. "I didn’t want to tell him the real reason. It’s not his business."

"No, it is not," Killshot said. "But I do wonder, did you lie to me too? You told me you gave up on being a god for an entirely different reason."

Grimsight paused and shook his head. "No, I did not lie to you. I had no reason to lie to you."

Killshot raised an eyebrow. "So did you really give up on becoming a Spear God because you thought you could never reach the state of One with the Spear?"

"I didn’t think I couldn’t reach it. I knew," Grimsight said.

Killshot frowned. "Can you tell me how you knew? You make me feel like I’m wasting my efforts, trying to reach One with the Bow."

"No, you should continue. My situation is nothing like yours. You will reach the state as long as you keep trying."

Killshot shrugged. "If you say so," she said and opened the door.

Alex and the rest were patiently waiting around for Grimsight to finally come out, so they all turned toward them.

Killshot walked out with a wide smile on her face and strode right up to Pearl. "What’s your name again?"

"Whitepearl, Your Greatness," Pearl quickly said. "You can call me Pearl."

"Alright, Pearl. I want to fight with you."

Pearl was taken aback. "You… want to fight me? But I’m only an Immortal, Your Greatness," he quickly said.

"You’re Spearheaven’s unofficial disciple in Spear. I want to see if he’s slacking or not. Come," she said, walking down the courtyard into the open space. "Also, don’t call me Greatness. I don’t like these formal addresses. Keep it simple."

Pearl looked around with his eyes wide, asking for help. Alex was quite shocked too, but he gestured for Pearl to quickly move. He couldn’t refuse a God after all.

Pearl ran off, pulling out his spear as he prepared for a battle. Killshot pulled out a majestic blue bow and held it in her left hand, looking toward Pearl.

"Alright, go on. Let me see how good you are."

Pearl began fighting, and it was very soon clear that it couldn’t even be called a fight. No matter what Pearl did, the woman was one step ahead, stopping every attack, finding every opportunity to fight back.

She wasn’t even using her Divine realm strength. The movements she did, the speed at which she moved, was something an Immortal couldn’t accomplish. And yet, she made it look so effortless.

It was a one-sided battle that forced Pearl to do his best and bring out every attack he had to get just one hit in.

Alex and the rest were left watching the battle in awe for a long time.

"I knew you had connections to gods before, with you being a Sage previously and all, but I never considered the fact that you had the potential to become a God yourself," Silvermist said.

"Well… it just sort of happened. I don’t think I deserved it at the time anyway. I was only offered it because the previous Spear God had died in the war a few years prior, and there was a vacancy."

Alex paid half-attention to the spar to the side because the conversation on this end was getting quite interesting too.

"And you refused it, senior?" Momo asked. "Isn’t being a god what everyone wants? Did you not want it?"

"No, I didn’t." He didn’t explain any further.

Silvermist didn’t question it. Instead, he was more curious about something else. "Her Greatness called you her master. Was your relationship with her similar to your relationship with Pearl?"

Grimsight grunted a little. "She’ll kill you if I tell you anything about her past."

"I really will!" Killshot shouted from the yard while using the tip of her bow to parry Pearl’s spear stab and then spin around him before pushing him onto the ground.

"Come on. You’re not giving it your all. I can feel you holding back. Do better," she said and moved back.

Pearl took a moment to gather himself and look at her. ’She’s right,’ he thought. He had been holding back, mostly to hide his real strength. But he was up against a God, and it wasn’t every day that one got to spar with them.

He gave his all.

"I did teach her, but just like with Pearl, I never wanted to be a master," Grimsight said. "Back then, I liked being alone, so it just didn’t sit right with me to have a disciple."

"How long ago was this?" Alex asked.

Grimsight shrugged. "Many millennia before I even met your master. Over 150 thousand years easily."

"What?" Momo reacted, unable to contain her surprise. It wasn’t every day that she got to hear of those numbers, especially in relation to years.

"Why are you surprised?" Silvermist asked. "Did you not know we’ve lived that long?"

"I… didn’t know," she said, still quite shocked. "I never realized how old you were, grandmaster."

"Haha! Come on now. I’m still in my prime."

A sudden burst of power surprised everyone, and they turned in time to see Pearl release a shot of spiraling energy that left his spear and went directly for the Archery God.

Killshot simply swatted it away as if the attack did not matter to her, but her eyes told a different story. She was shocked. That was perhaps the most different emotion any of them had seen from her.

"You’re kidding me," she said. "That was the Fourth Form, wasn’t it?" Your next read is at

Pearl looked at her and slowly nodded.

Killshot ignored him and turned toward Grimsight. "You taught him your spear art?" she asked, incredulity clear in her eyes.

Grimsight straightened a little and nodded. "I had to pass along my legacy to someone. Pearl was a great choice for that."

Killshot was slack-jawed for a while before she turned back to Pearl. "Wow! Brother Spearheaven passed you his spear arts. I cannot think of a greater honor from that man. You’ve made a name for yourself in me, Pearl. I don’t think I’ll be forgetting you any time soon."
