Alex went into the room he was shown and heard the splashing river from the window. He walked over to the window and saw the deep green river slowly moving down south.
Seeing such a large body of water was a treat for sure. The oasis was large too, but it didn’t carry this much water at all.
Alex sat down on the soft bed, finally having the freedom to sit and think.
‘The Hell Emperor left this world, so it is possible to leave,’ Alex thought. ‘But how did he do it?’
He had no answer to that question just yet. The prison wall was one of the things that troubled him, but the most troubling part of Hell was the lack of Heaven.
Without Heaven, he could not do many things. He couldn’t learn a Dao, he couldn’t form an Axiom, he couldn’t create a teleportation formation and have the world aid him in leaving.
Every time one tried to leave a realm with Heaven in it, Heaven provided them with a maelstrom of spatial aura that aided their teleportation. Without it, the chances of going far enough away to reach another world were pretty much impossible.
‘The main issue is the Intent of this world,’ Alex thought. ‘It strips all energy of its connection beyond a certain range and degrades them to become less than usable. I couldn’t possibly use it to teleport beyond the prison walls.’
The Hell Emperor had received some help from the Endless Night sect in his conquering of this world. They had flown his banners, which was how their influence had grown to as big as it was now. So, if anyone knew anything about how the Hell Emperor left, it would be those people.
Alex thought about various things, but none of his thoughts went anywhere. A few people came a bit afterward, asking him if he needed anything. There wasn’t anything Alex needed for now, so he let them go back to what they were doing.
He checked through his storage bags after that, making sure the Sunhearts and beast cores weren’t together. As much as he wanted to trust these people, they could very well be waiting for the time when he let his guard down the most in order to attack him.
He was deep in a place he did not know anything about. He had gone with his guts, but he needed to prepare for if he was wrong too.
Cultivating in such a situation would be quite stupid after all.
So, Alex decided to instead wait around and see.
There wasn’t much to do while waiting. The sun was starting to set as well, so the sky grew a pale shade of violet that shimmered from time to time with the light of broken space.
Alex lay down on his bed, feeling a little strange about the moment. How long had it been since he simply rested? For the past few months, he had either been walking through the desert, trying to find the next beast, or stopping to cultivate.
This moment of leisure finally gave him time to think through things that he hadn’t had the time to for a while now.
He brought out a piece of fresh meat from his storage bag and ate it.
‘What do I need now?’ he thought. ‘I still have to improve my Sword Intent. I still have to improve my blood aura. And I still have to improve my cultivation base. The meat will take care of my body cultivation for now.’
A better way would be to use the Mountain Crushing artifact, but how was he going to get that even?
Thinking about it reminded him of something. Ever since he was stuck in the prison back in Palm Haven, he had forced himself to exclusively improve his Intent without actually trying to figure out just how much stronger he had grown.
He knew for a fact that he had grown stronger, but by how much?
It had been over half a century since he last tried it, so Alex decided to try it out again.
Sitting up again, Alex took a deep breath and used his Intent to attack at the seal around his Spiritual sea. He started slowly, just feeling out the seal at first.
But as he got the hang of it and knew the seal wasn’t going to fight back, he went forth with more power.
He pressed on it, and it began slowly fighting back. The method of fighting back for the seal was simply to give Alex pain. With enough pain, he would pass out before he could do anything, which was as the Storm God intended.
He had succeeded in his intentions previously, but if there was anything that Alex could do, it was to adapt to the pain. Ever since the start of his cultivation, since the day he started body cultivating with Pearl, he had been acquainted with pain.
Throughout the years, as he improved his body cultivation, pain had been closer than an acquaintance. It was a companion now.
Mental pain was different from physical pain, but pain was still pain. So long as Alex suffered through it long enough, he could get used to it too.
Having trained for 50 years inside the painful barrier of the Sunwardens, his tolerance for mental pain had improved alongside the strength of his Intent as well.
So, he now had a way to fight against the seal for much longer than he previously did. Not only did he last longer, he also could deal more damage to it than before.
It was still far from enough to destroy it, but he had come so much further than before.
If he could last just 3 attacks during the start, he could now last for more than 10, and that was including the fact that he was now tolerating more pain than before.
If not, the true numbers compared to before could easily be upwards of 30.
Compared to when he first came, Alex’s Intent was now nearly 10 times stronger.
