Chapter 2820: Draw Blood

Pearl was beyond amazed to hear about Alex’s progress.

“Really? Divine realm?” he asked in shock.

Alex and Emily were to the side, both shocked the same as well. Neither of them truly understood what the Divine realm was, but they knew that was the same realm that Ronron’s master had been back home, so they were still surprised by their own standard.

They congratulated Alex on his achievement.

“It’s only with blood though,” Alex said. “While it’s great, it sadly doesn’t come with the benefits that a Divine realm comes with.”

There was no Creation.

Against a regular Divine realm cultivator, he was more than likely to lose.

‘Well, I do have the Blood Devil,’ Alex thought. But since it was half-formed, he didn’t want to use it much. Hopefully, its issue of making him bloodthirsty would go away when he fully formed it.

After talking to the three for a bit, and taking in what was happening with the Demon realm, he shifted his attention to the Playground spirit that was housed inside the Sundering Sanctum.

He told it about the situation and waited for its response.

“I’ve never heard of such a situation, Master,” the Playground spirit answered with a confused voice. “Are you sure there are no formations or some sort of seal around her like you do?”

“Yes, absolutely nothing at all,” Alex answered. “Her body has nothing beyond just flesh and bone. Nothing stone or metal on her that could be used as a formation, or any sort of Intent that is foreign to her body.”

“I could also be too weak to even sense those seals, but at that point, I don’t think I have a chance of helping either,” Alex said. If he couldn’t even tell if something was there, then there was no way he could help her.

“But I don’t believe that’s the case. I’ve been in her mind easily. I don’t believe a seal would leave it open like that.”

The Playground spirit thought for a bit. “You mentioned something about her being a swordsman, right? So she must have a sword. Have you checked if it’s the sword?”

Alex frowned. “I’ve scanned it with my senses a bit and found nothing. Just to be sure, I’ll take a deeper look.”

Alex focused on the outside and pulled his Spiritual sense back to check on the sword.

The sword was still crusted fully with the beasts’ blood, and after so many more days of fighting, there seemed an additional layer on top of it. He sent his sense past the layers of blood and onto the metal itself.

As someone who had partly worked in a Divine realm cultivator’s workshop for a short time, he still didn’t recognize the type of metal it was. It was certainly something he hadn’t sensed before.

His senses fell on the sword and were slightly opposed. Although, that wasn’t the doing of the sword, but rather the metal itself. The metal appeared to be able to block his senses to a degree.

But Alex had sensed it enough to know that it could still be easily pierced.

He dug deeper into the sword, trying to see what he could find. He had briefly searched through the sword the past few times, but each time he had stopped after finding one truth.

The sword Death held was a reflection of herself.

Soulless.

There was no sword spirit within it or anything at all. There was no sign of life. He searched for hints of Qi, but even when he came across some of the Qi lines within the sword, they were empty.

There were no other runes or formation lines drawn into the sword, so it was obvious that the sword was not the issue either.

He drew his Spiritual sense back and revisited the Playground spirit. “I checked, there’s nothing.”

“Then I cannot help you, Master,” the spirit said. “I do not have much knowledge of what’s going on at all.”

Alex sighed. “Well, you did what you could. That reminds me, are you capable of telling a person’s constitution with their hair alone?”

“I require blood, Master,” the Playground spirit said.

“Blood?” Alex frowned. He didn’t know how he could possibly draw blood from Death. Her body was far too strong. And he hadn’t yet attacked her either. Cutting her to draw blood could constitute as an attack.

“My system is only able to recognize someone’s body constitution or bloodline when they provide me with their blood.”

Alex sighed. “Fine, I’ll see if I can get you some.”

He brought his Spiritual sense back out and took Death’s empty hand. In the confined sand, he could simply grab up and reach her.

He looked at her palm that he had noticed a while back, but they were the palms of a true swordsman—stiff and calloused. He could only wonder how much she had trained to get this sort of palm as an Immortal.

He attempted to draw blood from the palm, but doing it with just his Qi was impossible. The woman likely couldn’t even feel any of his attempts.

He needed something sharper, which he thankfully had.

Alex brought out his sword and tried to make the tiniest cut in her palm. Since she had no Qi, she would have trouble healing.

He was also a little scared of what she would do should she be hurt. How would she react to pain? Could she even feel pain right now?

Alex placed the sharp edge of the blade on her palm and made the tiniest cut.

Death’s palm folded suddenly, grabbing onto the sword. Despite being prepared, Alex was scared by Death’s action and pulled on the sword, making a deeper cut as the sword slid out from her palm.

Death didn’t stop. She suddenly came lunging for Alex with her open, bleeding palm to grab him.

His fear of her reaction to pain had turned out to be valid.

Death did not like getting hurt.
