Slivka spoke with a light, floating tone, as if muttering in a dream.

His demeanor was sincere, as if he genuinely wanted to invite Du Wei to look up at his master from the bottom of his heart.

Yet the master he described was unmistakably the same Mary Shaw who had almost undergone an evil spirit transformation before.

Du Wei was certain that Mary Shaw had been thoroughly killed by the evil spirit, completely and without leaving any chance of trouble behind.

Because at that time, he had used the Joker Card to wish all the ventriloquist dummies into the cornfield.

Without any dummies existing on the outside, there would be no possibility of its resurrection.

"So, it was fear, but Slivka’s psyche had already begun to show a tendency towards distortion…”

With this in mind, Du Wei didn’t look up but instead grasped the flashlight and aimed it at Slivka’s abdomen.

He noticed that Slivka’s mental state was very off, without any instinctual defense against the outside world.

Striking someone in the abdomen, neck, or jaw, if done with the right amount of force, could incapacitate the individual and cause them to lose consciousness.

Though Du Wei, a former forensic science major, was well-acquainted with human anatomy, he hadn’t undergone professional training; to incapacitate Slivka, he would have to choose the easiest target.

And without endangering the man’s life…

The abdomen seemed just right…

Knocking someone out wasn’t like in drama shows where after a period of unconsciousness, they wake up fine; instead, it could be dangerous.

With that thought.

Du Wei narrowed his eyes and slowly said to Slivka, who was drooling from his mouth and looked twisted and excited, “Actually, I don’t need to look up to see your master.”

Slivka’s tone was somewhat dull as he asked, “Why is that?”

Du Wei replied, “Because the master is right behind you, and I think you should take a look.”

Creak…

Slivka’s body faced Du Wei, but his neck turned backward, twisting in a way that defied human anatomy and rotating more than 90°.

The opportunity was here…

Du Wei, without hesitation, grabbed the flashlight and stabbed its base forcefully into Slivka’s abdomen.

Crack…

The next second.

The flashlight was seized firmly, unable to move as if clamped by iron pincers.

Then, Slivka slowly twisted his head back, the smile at the corner of his mouth growing more ferocious and sinister.

"The master told me you’re deceiving me…”

"Is that so? Well, that’s a pity…”

Du Wei’s eyes instantly grew cold, and under the state of Spirit Vision, he “saw” a layer of grayish mist covering Slivka.

It seemed like a shadow, but not quite right.

He did not hesitate to let go and immediately retreated.

Slivka’s eyes, already bloodshot, grew even redder; his condition was obviously compromised, twisted by some unknown entity.

"I’m going to tear you apart…”

He roared furiously, lunged forward, and pounced directly at Du Wei.

It was as if he had been possessed by an evil spirit.

But right then.

The dark, deep muzzle was aimed at his shoulder…

Thud…

Du Wei, calm as ever, simply drew his pistol and pulled the trigger.

Saving someone comes after ensuring one’s own safety.

Considering Slivka’s already advanced age, being shot in the shoulder and knocked back by the recoil, he tumbled to the ground.

Thud, his body collided with the floor.

Slivka made a prolonged “heh” sound from his throat, reached out his hand grasping futilely at the air, his eyes gradually closed, and he lost consciousness completely.

Across from him.

Du Wei looked expressionless as he stared at Slivka, and after confirming that the man had lost the ability to move, he took a step forward.

He hadn’t died, he had just been shot.

"What on earth is going on…”

Du Wei said coldly, lifting his head to glance at the top of the passage that Slivka had referred to before falling unconscious.

It was pitch black before his eyes.

When the flashlight shone upward, he saw the contour of a face etched at the top.

Though it was called a contour, it was actually even more rough, merely a crude outline of lines, with the parts of the eyes, nose, and mouth faintly discernible.

"But I didn’t see anything.”

Du Wei was puzzled and looked again at the faint light source across the passage, then lowered his gaze to Slivka’s body.

Under Spirit Vision, the grey fog that shrouded him hadn’t disappeared.

"Very strange…”

Du Wei muttered to himself, reaching out with his Evil Spirit Transformed right hand to grasp at the layer of grey mist.

However, to his surprise, his right hand touched nothing.

Swinging several times through the mist didn’t have the slightest effect; it was as if it didn’t exist at all.

Du Wei thought for a moment, then turned his head to look at the faint light source across the passage.

There seemed to be an exit ahead.

So, Du Wei stepped over Slivka’s body and quietly walked over.

He now had an idea.

The difference between himself and Slivka was the Evil Spirit Transformation and an absolute calm rationality.

He could be immune to certain psychological influences.

Like Pennywise, unless he allowed it, it couldn’t induce fear in him, and its threat to him was pitifully small.

If that door and this passage held some kind of incomprehensible power, it had to be psychological.

It affected Slivka and Jon, but it couldn’t touch him.

The door was locked; moving it away would face the passage that led to an unknown place.

But it wasn’t that dangerous because, normally, seeing the passage after opening the door is the complete process, not just moving the door.

The non-existent mist shrouding Slivka’s body also matched this thought.

The Evil Spirit Transformed hand couldn’t touch it, perhaps because it existed in a different form.

If the process was followed, destroying the three locks on the door and then opening it, perhaps everything would change.

While thinking,

Du Wei came to a stop before the dim light source, but regrettably, it was not an exit, but a crack made from stone bricks, about three centimeters in length.

The dim light was coming from the crack.

After pondering for a moment, Du Wei approached the crack step by step, his eyes peering inside.

In an instant…

His pupils suddenly contracted, and his face took on an extremely strange expression.

Through the crack, he saw an old-style school building, students in class on the opposite side, and it seemed to be raining outside, making the surroundings a grey blur.

This…

Du Wei clearly remembered that after he entered the basement passage, he hadn’t felt an upward trend, meaning he should be three meters underground.

Yet through the crack, he saw a school building opposite; how could that be possible…

Suddenly…

The school bell for the end of class rang out urgently.

Behind the crack, there was also the sound of dense footsteps.

The next second.

An eye was pressed to the crack, its gaze hollow and lifeless…

And Du Wei was looking inside the crack as well.

Their gazes met…
