Surprisingly, Valerie did not ask for the men to accompany her into her forge so that they could get things started.
Instead, she led Darius, Gulban, and Abaddon outside their home.
Exactly fifty miles away, Valerie came to a stop in the air.
She slowly floated back down towards the ground and paced around while seemingly looking for something.
“…Here. Right here is perfect.” She nodded.
She turned to Abaddon while he was wondering just how fast he could push Gulban’s wheelchair without flinging him across the abyss.
“Babe.”
“Y-Yes?” Abaddon was praying that Valerie hadn’t heard a single thing he was thinking.
“Can you extend the dimensions of this land for me?”
“Sure, by how much?”
Valerie took out the sack of seeds Eris had thrown at her and peeked inside.
“Oh… enough for around 30 world trees or so?”
Abaddon blinked a couple of times.
“Are you sure you don’t need any more? That seems small…”
Darius thought at a certain point he might get used to his friends saying casually insane things.
That hadn’t happened yet, but he still hadn’t quite given up hope.
“It’s enough.” Valerie nodded.
Abaddon snapped his fingers and the world around them briefly seemed to stretch.
Once everything had settled, the group noticed a trio of figures descending from the sky.
Lailah, Straga, and Gabbrielle seemed to have finished the last of their preparations and were now prepared to join Valerie in her grand undertaking.
Valerie shot Lailah a sorrowful glance that could have tugged at the iciest of heartstrings.
Even at her coldest, Lailah could not so easily ignore the longing puppy-dog look on her face. No matter how much she might’ve wanted to.
“Are you certain that that’ll work, mother?”
Valerie tore her eyes away from Gabbrielle and ruffled her hair. “I’m certain it will, Peach. But I won’t lie to you, it might take a very long time.”
Once they were all ready to begin construction, the plan was for Abaddon and Lailah to seal their family members inside a large dome where time was dramatically altered. Similar to the ones they used for sex.
On the outside, barely any time would pass at all for everyone at home. But while they were working inside, things would be supremely different.
Valerie didn’t have much of any sort of timeframe planned out either. This construction would be just that large.
Gabbrielle grew until she had reached her mother’s height. Her adorableness was replaced by a mature wisdom.
“You don’t need to worry about us, mother. A few lifetimes with you is better than a future without.”
Valerie smiled proudly as she embraced her daughter with open arms. “That’s my baby… this is why you’re my favorite.”
“Hey!”
Valerie and Gabbrielle just ignored Straga while they continued hugging. Straga turned to his other two parents with a crestfallen look.
“You guys don’t actually have favorites… right?”
Lailah and Abaddon glanced at each other briefly to make sure that they were on the same page.
“”…Odie.”” They nodded.
“Okay, well, what about your kids who aren’t babies?”
“You all fall way out of the race when you start learning how to say ‘no’.” Lailah rolled her eyes.
“And ‘I don’t feel like it’.” Abaddon added.
“Oh, oh, oh, and when they say they’re too old for kisses.”
“You’re alone on that one. If you knew what most of our kids were doing with their mouths you’d scream if one of them brought them near you.”
Lailah started to laugh, but then she realized her husband wasn’t smiling back.
Her smile slowly faded as she let her head sit against her husband’s chest.
“…We should’ve appreciated them more when they were babies…” Lailah sniffled.
Abaddon just nodded his head as he stroked her hair. “It’s alright, we still have Odie. And our next child is soon to be born as well.”
*Sniff* “You’re right…”
“…” As he watched his parents, Straga was starting to think that maybe he wasn’t going to miss the two of them nearly as much as he thought.
“Alright, alright… enough of the sugary works.” Gulban disrupted. “The sooner we get this all done, the quicker everyone can come back to be a happy little family again.”
Valerie finally released Gabbrielle and wiped her watery eyes. “Alright, Dad. Don’t get your bedpan in a twist.”
“Watch your mouth, little boy!”
“HEY!!”
Valerie seemingly forgot all about the fact that her father was feeble and powerless because she tried for several minutes to flip him out of his wheelchair.
– One Round of Elder Abuse Later…
Abaddon took the world tree seeds from his wife as she wiped off her bloodied knuckles.
He rose up into the air and reached inside the burlap sack.
The dimensions of the sack stretched and one by one, Abaddon pulled out a series of football-sized seeds.
Slowly rotating his body, Abaddon hurled out the seeds in different directions. He threw them with such force that the seeds crashed into the ground where they landed and formed a nice little seedbed.
He made sure to toss the seeds at a safe enough distance away from each other while keeping their potential for growth and roots at the forefront of his mind.
Now, it was time for the hard part.
World Trees take a minimum of a billion years to fully grow. In addition, they are usually planted within cosmic storms and grow while creating a realm around them.
But Abaddon was attempting to not only plant these seeds in an already existing realm, but also force grow their growth.
To point out all of the reasons why he shouldn’t do something like this would require a billboard and a laser pointer.
“Honey, don’t you think you should just cover the trees in the time barrier and let them grow naturally??” Lailah asked from the ground.
Abaddon shook his head. “If we waited for the trees to grow naturally then they’ll start developing personalities. Getting their bark will be unnecessarily difficult, not to mention that we’ll be dealing with a surplus of Yggdrasil clones..”
“Yggy isn’t all that bad.” Valerie insisted.
“She always acts as if she has something against me!”
“YOU PUT A HOLE IN HER!” Everyone reminded.
“Whatever…” Abaddon grumbled. It wasn’t as if he hadn’t tried to apologize before.
He closed his eyes as his body started to glow.
Lailah covered herself and her family with a protective barrier- surprising everyone except Valerie and Gabbrielle.
“Better safe than sorry, family.” She smiled.
“Why the overprotection, Ma?” Straga questioned. “We’ve all been around Dad’s powers before.”
“Yes, you have, but I’m afraid that this will be a hair bit different than that. Pay attention.” Lailah pointed.
Everyone inside the dome continued to stare outside.
Abaddon had curled his large physique into a ball. His dark tattoos became a shining gold.
An invisible pulse seemingly left his body and washed over the area for miles.
Seconds after the first wave, another one rippled out. This one coming faster than before.
More and more of these pulses of energy left Abaddon’s body, each of them affecting the land around them to a visible degree.
The soil richened in color. The very air became clouded with golden shimmers that gave off an ethereal feeling.
The very ground suddenly rumbled.
One by one, several impossibly thick, baby green stems rose from the ground.
The quicker that the pulses came, the quicker the tree stalks grew.
Not only that but the barren and empty land they were planted in was suddenly transformed.
Vibrant grass and flowers sprang up from the soil. Each blade and petal was larger than even the average human.
Not to mention, the most surprising feat of all.
With the birth of several new world trees, dozens of new nature spirits were being born in droves.
They arose from the bulbs of flowers, naked and as gentle as a spring breeze.
“Why did I have to stay in here for so long again..?” Straga asked.
The women inside the bubble gave him dirty looks.
“What!? I wanted to know from a purely educational standpoint!” Straga held up his hands.
“Yeah, I wanna be educated too!” Darius cackled.
“I’ve never been to school before..” Gulban added.
Valerie and Lailah had the same ugly look at once.
With the two of them of the same mind, they each stood behind the two men and pushed them outside the barrier.
At first, nothing happened to them.
And then they went down.
Straga’s eyes widened as he watched his uncle and his grandfather undergo some very big changes.
Or perhaps it was better to say that they underwent little ones…
The old men looked great at first. Their skin was becoming more vibrant, their hair more luscious, and they even regained their youth.
Gulban was able to stand up from his wheelchair under his power. He no longer resembled a dying old man, but an ordinary black-haired human.
But it quickly became too much.
Abaddon was like a wellspring of extremely pure aether, his pores were literally oozing out vitality and clean energy in ocean-sized capacities.
For the trees, it was a bonafide miracle grow.
For other biological entities, it was far different…
“What the hell is happening to me?!” A small voice yelled.
Lailah, Valerie, and Gabbrielle burst out into a fit of laughter.
Straga just shook his head in a true state of pity.
Standing before them was one preteen-looking Gulban, and another four-year-old-looking Darius.
They scrambled to get back into the barrier, but even when they were inside of it nothing changed.
Darius pulled back the waistline of his pants and stared down in horror.
He dropped down to his knees in a fit of horror. All will to live had already left him.
“No…no…. NOOOOOOOO!!!!”
