Chapter 2175 - Three Ways to Join Qingwu Divine Court

Chapter 2175 – Three Ways to Join Qingwu Divine Court

The gods of Qingwu Divine Court had died.

There was no bloodshed, nor were they wounded in any way. Their bodies were perfectly intact.

But their life force had vanished!

The silver-robed man sighed and said, “In just a few more years, the Dark Days of Legend will be upon us, and the lives of gods will be no more valuable than blades of grass. Dying early means knowing peace sooner. You won’t have to endure the bitterness of the upcoming upheaval.”

With that, he walked up, gathered the corpses, and built them a tomb, complete with a grave marker for each of the dead.

On the tomb, he wrote, “I beg of you, do not seek to avenge them. If you make any more innocents die by my hand, I’ll have an even guiltier conscience.”

The silver-robed man gazed intently at the text for a few moments before running his fingers through his long, disheveled hair and letting out a heartfelt grin.

“I honor you in death. Rest in peace.”

With that, he waved to the tomb, turned, took a single step forward, and vanished into thin air.

Nine new graves now stood amidst the ruins of the Celestial Yao Mountains. This scene seemed incomparably strange, and when it was discovered, it sent yet another wave of uproar sweeping throughout the Billowing Blue Realm.

……

A treasure ship flew through the boundless starry void.

Su Yi had already transformed, taking on the appearance of his third incarnation, Xiao Jian.

The little monkey transformed too, taking on the form of a little gray sparrow.

“Life or death. Which do you choose?” Su Yi sat there and asked softly.

The one sealed beside him was none other than Wandering Sun God Cai Lei of Qingwu Divine Court. The little monkey had taken him captive outside Grassy Creek Village.

After a moment’s silence, Cai Lei said, “If I want to live, what kind of price will I have to pay?”

Su Yi looked at him approvingly. He’s a clever one.

“I want to join Qingwu Divine Court,” said Su Yi. “How do you think I should go about smoothly gaining admission?”

Cai Lei hadn’t anticipated that. He asked probingly, “Forgive my boldness, but what is your cultivation?”

“I’m in the mid-stage Creation Realm,” Su Yi said casually.

Cai Lei frowned, thought for a moment, and said, “Forgive my bluntness, but it would be almost impossible for an unfamiliar human god like you to join Qingwu Divine Court.”

Qingwu Divine Court was a faction of yao cultivators! Practically everyone in it was a yao cultivator. There were a few humans, but they were less than ten percent of the sect’s population.

If a human god wanted to join Qingwu Divine Sect to cultivate, they’d need to pass all manner of trials and pass a thorough background check.

It was obvious to Cai Lei that the young man in blue had ulterior motives for joining Qingwu Divine Sect. He was effectively a spy; there was no way he’d pass the sect’s background check!

“A human god?” Su Yi laughed. “No need to worry about that. I can be a yao god too if I want.”

With that, his aura suddenly transformed, and his eyes flashed with tawny luster. As he circulated his blood and qi, the image of a Torch Dragon appeared behind him.

A Torch Dragon!? Cai Lei gasped.

He too was a yao god, so he could tell at a glance that Su Yi’s blood and qi were incomparably ancient and pure. He was obviously a descendant of the Torch Dragon Race. There was no faking an aura like that!

Torch Dragons were a natural variant beast shaped like true dragons, but with just one horn. Their whole bodies were as black as ink, and their physical bodies were among the strongest of all living things.

That aside, Torch Dragons had innate divine abilities, like the “Breath of the Torch Dragon” and the “Curtain of the Silent Night.”

Variant beasts born of chaos were all but extinct in the God Domain. It had been a long, long time since one had appeared.

Even so, everyone could recognize someone with a Torch Dragon bloodline at a glance.

This was a supreme bloodline power, and it suppressed the bloodlines of other yao cultivators. There was no faking that!

Cai Lei couldn’t help but find this baffling. “What… exactly are you? A human god, or a yao god of the Torch Dragon lineage?”

Su Yi laughed. “Even you find it hard to tell. Doesn’t that make things simple?”

Cai Lei’s expression shifted. In the end, he said, “If you’re a god of the Torch Dragon Race, you really do have hope of entering Qingwu Divine Court, but… if there’s a problem with your origins, you’ll die beyond a doubt as soon as you’re discovered!”

Su Yi said calmly, “There’s no need for you to worry about that. Just tell me how I can go about joining Qingwu Divine Court.”

Cai Lei fell briefly silent, then cooperatively laid out every method for entering Qingwu Divine Court, one by one. He dared not hide anything, because Su Yi said that he wouldn’t let him go until he’d joined Qingwu Divine Court.

Cai Lei’s life was in Su Yi’s hands. He had no choice but to cooperate.

Qingwu Divine Court was one of the mightiest factions in the Southern Flame Divine Continent, and it had Master Gods watching over it.

Ordinarily, all someone needed to do to gain admission was pass the entrance exam, but the requirements were far stricter for gods. This was to prevent spies and double agents from infiltrating the sect and pilfering its legacies, as well as to ensure the loyalty of newly admitted gods. They didn’t want to recruit someone who’d turn on them lightly.

After all, gods were different from ordinary disciples. Any old god could have gone and founded a sect of their own.

And even in a peak faction like Qingwu Divine Court, gods had lofty positions. They were the pillars of the sect.

The moment they joined the sect, they could take on a position of importance.

For instance, they could become a Wandering Sun God like Cai Lei. They were tasked with surveying Qingwu Divine Court’s territories.

Thus, when recruiting gods, Qingwu Divine Court’s rules and conditions were far stricter than when they recruited new disciples.

Cai Lei shared every method he knew for a god to gain entrance to the sect. There were, broadly speaking, three different viable approaches.

First, he could take Qingwu Divine Court’s entrance examination and pass it. They held these tests once every ten years.

Second, he could receive a recommendation from one of the sect’s higher-ups, but that too would require passing numerous tests, and if he didn’t meet the sect’s requirements, they’d refuse him.

The third was to participate in the Southern Flame Province’s Spring and Autumn Dao Assembly!

This was a grand occasion prepared specifically for gods, and it had been running for so long that no one remembered how it had begun. It was held once a year in Spring and Autumn City.

Anyone who made a strong enough showing had a chance to join one of the Southern Flame Divine Continent’s top sects, no matter their identity or origins. Top factions would even take the initiative to recruit them!

Of course, even if you were recruited and got the chance to join a top faction, you had to overcome a thorough investigation first.

Su Yi thought for a moment, then decided to adopt the third approach.

The Spring and Autumn Dao Assembly was held once a year, and the next one would be held in just three months!

When the time came, many of the Southern Flame Divine Continent’s top factions would send their experts to watch. Their goal was to recruit powerful gods from among the participants.

Qingwu Divine Court naturally participated too.

This was the simplest way for Su Yi to achieve his goal.

“Forgive my boldness, but why exactly do you want to join Qingwu Divine Court?” Cai Lei asked tentatively.

“To cultivate, naturally,” Su Yi said without missing a beat.

“…..” Cai Lei didn’t know what to say. To cultivate? To cultivate what? Farts?

He’s going to such lengths to scheme his way into the sect, and he’s even gone so far as to take one of its Wandering Sun Gods captive. He’s obviously up to something sinister!

But Cai Lei didn’t dare to say any of that out loud. All he could do was cooperate obediently.

Suddenly, Su Yi asked out of nowhere, “Do you know what happened in the Boundless Battlefield?”

This was what he was currently most confused by.

On his way here along the Road of Celestial Guidance, numerous powerful foes tried to intercept him, Luo Qingdi, and Luo Xuanji.

These enemies included the Dipankara Buddha, Old Man Providence, Master God Tian Huang, Master God Yun He, and Wenren Qin, among others. They should have been locked in combat with Li Fuyou’s old friends on the Boundless Battlefield; it shouldn’t have been possible for them to leave.

Yet they’d somehow gone and done just that. They didn’t send their avatars, either. All of them appeared in the flesh!

Su Yi and his companions had even encountered terrifying enemies who’d touched the threshold of the River of Destiny, like Di E, Gu Huaxin, the old hunchback, and Jiao Mu.

All of this told Su Yi that something had changed in the Boundless Battlefield!

Furthermore, whatever it was, it had happened within just the past few years!!

He knew this because Li Fuyou’s old friends had appeared when he underwent his Great Profound Tribulation in the Immortal Realm’s Epoch Battlefield. They’d helped him stave off his powerful enemies’ attempts to interfere with his tribulation.

Obviously, the Boundless Battlefield’s changes hadn’t yet taken place then.

“The Boundless Battlefield?” Cai Lei mulled that over, then said, “About three years ago, a rumor spread that sent waves rippling through the God Domain. It involved the Boundless Battlefield.”

“Let’s hear it,” said Su Yi.

“Apparently, a mysterious and terrifying existence used an unparalleled divine ability to seal the entrance to the Boundless Battlefield off completely. No one can enter from outside anymore,” Cai Lei said at top speed. “But no one knows if the rumors are true or not. As I’m sure you know, the Boundless Battlefield is a taboo, terrifying place. Even Master Gods risk losing their lives there. Ordinary gods would never dare to risk it.”

“Someone sealed the entrance?” Su Yi furrowed his brow. How is that possible? The Laws of the Boundless Battlefield are strong enough to threaten the lives of even Master Gods. Who could possibly seal the entrance?

Unless… whoever did it had strength far beyond the limits of a Master God!

The image of Di E rose unbidden to Su Yi’s sea of consciousness. Was it him?

In the end, Su Yi just shook his head and gave the matter no further thought. Later on, he’d go see the place for himself. He’d get his answers then.

Su Yi proceeded to ask several more questions. Unfortunately, although Cai Lei was a yao god of Qingwu Divine Court, he was only a Lesser God, and his knowledge was limited.

Many of his answers failed to satisfy Su Yi.

Still, Su Yi did gain a preliminary understanding of the current situation in the Southern Flame Divine Continent from his conversation with Cai Lei.

In many ways, it really was starkly different from what Li Fuyou and Yi Daoxuan remembered.

“One last question. Is Hua Hongzhen still alive?” asked Su Yi.

Hua Hongzhen!

He was one of the Master God-level patriarchs of Qingwu Divine Court. They called him Yao Ancestor Hongzhen.

He was one of the people Yi Daoxuan hated most, but they weren’t enemies.

Because the way Yi Daoxuan saw it, Hua Hongzhen was in no way worthy of becoming his enemy!
