Chapter 2177 - Clear Breeze Daoist Temple, Si Ming!Chapter 2177 – Clear Breeze Daoist Temple, Si Ming!
Ai Kun, huh? Su Yi laughed dryly. If you’re going to lie, put some effort into it. You obviously just made that up.
“Since you’re just passing through, hurry up and leave,” Su Yi said flatly.
The silver-robed “Ai Kun” laughed and drew closer. “The world’s so big, yet you and I happened to cross paths. It’s simply a stroke of fate as grand as the heavens themselves!”
He took a step forward and landed on board the treasure ship.
The little monkey, still in sparrow form, looked over, his gaze cold.
“Come on, I’m not a bad person or anything. What are you afraid of?” The silver-robed man glanced at the little monkey, then plopped down beside Su Yi and passed him a jug of wine. “Care for a drink?”
“I’m not in the mood,” said Su Yi.
The silver-robed man laughed. “I showed up out of nowhere, and now here I am, bothering you. Of course you’d find me an eyesore. I understand.”
He raised the jug of wine, threw back his head, and drank with great relish. He’d made himself perfectly at home.
“If you understand, you’d best leave before I lose my temper,” said Su Yi, rubbing his hands together. He said airily, “Of course, if you have other intentions, you should state them directly first.”
The silver-robed man nodded. “No need to hide it. I’m searching for someone. He controls the power of reincarnation, and he’s currently wanted by every god and Buddha beneath the heavens. I’m very much intrigued.”
The little monkey’s gaze focused. Su Yi, however, said calmly, “And what are you looking for him for?”
“I need a favor,” said the silver-robed man, a hint of grief in his expression. “I want him to help my master’s soul find peace.”
“….” Su Yi didn’t know what to say.
“….” Neither did the little monkey.
This guy was just too strange. He wanted to execute his own master, yet here he was, looking all torn up about it.
The silver-robed man hurriedly explained, “Don’t misunderstand. I just can’t bear to see my master in agony. That’s why I’m looking for someone to help him find release.”
“And why do you need the power of reincarnation?” Su Yi didn’t understand.
The silver-robed man sighed. “To help Master achieve rebirth. What else? Even though my master is in incomparable agony, he still isn’t willing to die. It would naturally be just perfect if I could help him reincarnate.”
He slapped his thigh and laughed. “Moreover, I’m quite looking forward to that day. After Master reincarnates, I’ll find him in his new incarnation and accept him as my disciple. I’ll make him cultivate hard every day, and if he dares disobey me, I’ll cane his ass!”
“….” Su Yi couldn’t help but feel sorry for the silver-robed man’s master. How unfortunate to have taken on such an eccentric disciple!
“And what if the man you’re looking for doesn’t help you?” asked Su Yi.
The silver-robed man mulled that over, then said, “I trust that no obstacle is insurmountable with enough sincerity, and money talks. If I show enough sincerity, I’m sure he’ll be willing to help me!”
With that, he flipped his palm, and a storage bag floated into the air.
“This bag contains one thousand pieces of Undying Demon Crystal and eighty stalks of Fortune Realm divine medicine. All of them are rare and precious treasures my master’s been holding onto. They’re precious enough to make any god drool!”
The silver-robed man passed the bag to Su Yi. “How about you open it and have a look?”
Su Yi shook his head. “As an outsider, I have no interest in your ‘sincerity.’”
The silver-robed man’s eyes narrowed, but then, he laughed. “My bad. I was too impulsive.”
He put away the bag of holding, then continued, “That’s just one part of the ‘sincerity’ I’ve prepared. If that man is willing to help my master find peace, I promise to worship him as I would a living bodhisattva who saved me from worldly suffering. I’ll do my utmost to repay his benevolence.”
The little monkey was dazed. How much must this guy hate his master to go to such lengths to force him to reincarnate?
“Is your master’s situation really that terrible?” asked Su Yi.
“It’s more than just terrible. It hurts to even look at him! It’s too tragic for this world!” The silver-robed man sighed. “The old man has suffered severe Dao Wounds, and his heart is scarred. He’d descended into obsession on numerous occasions, but strangely, no matter how agonizing it is, he always manages to survive.
“By now, he’s got one foot in the grave. He’s like an old dog gasping for breath, and his life is worse than death.”
His eyes were bloodshot with grief, but Su Yi and the little monkey were at a loss for words.
He’s making it sound like he’s upset, so why does he seem gleeful at his master’s misfortune? He even described his own master as an ‘old dog gasping for breath’…
Is that any way for a disciple to talk?
After a moment’s silence, Su Yi said suddenly, “If I were you, I’d be sure to help my master find release personally. That way, he wouldn’t have to suffer such torment any longer.”
The silver-robed man was stunned, but before he could respond, Su Yi continued, “I’m sure that he’d go to the nine springs with a smile on his face, convinced of his disciple’s filial piety. There’s no way he’d think you traitorous or unfilial.”
The silver-robed man was completely tongue-tied.
Su Yi continued solemnly, “In fact, it would be unfilial for you not to help your master. They say a Buddha will carve off a piece of his own flesh to feed an eagle. As a disciple, isn’t it your duty to see your master on his way?”
After a moment, the silver-robed man coughed dryly. “You’re joking, right?”
Su Yi said calmly, “You’re using me to amuse yourself, so I’m using you to relieve my boredom. This is called ‘giving as good you get.’”
The silver-robed man gazed intently at Su Yi for a moment before laughing. “You really are an interesting one. Tell me, then. Do you think the man I’m looking for is likely to help me?”
“If you can tell me how you ‘just so happened’ to bump into me here, I might well answer you,” said Su Yi.
The silver-robed man smiled. “Simple.”
He opened his hand, and a lotus seed covered with flowing, colorful light floated above his palm.
When it appeared, the surrounding skies contorted and collapsed, and wisps of spatial power of the natural order floated around it.
The little monkey’s pupils constricted, and his hair stood on end. That lotus seed’s aura is utterly terrifying!
Even Su Yi was unwittingly stunned. “Is that… a taboo treasure?”
“That’s right,” the silver-robed man said approvingly. “You’ve really got keen eyes. They call it the Lotus Seed of Light and Shadow. It’s like the seed of time itself, and its power can break the ironclad rules of the present day. The natural order of the heavens does not tolerate its existence. Thus, it’s worthy of the title ‘taboo treasure.’
“Earlier, I used this treasure to discover what had happened in the recent past while exploring the ruins of the Celestial Yao Mountains. There, I picked up on a few leads.”
His tone was suddenly rife with meaning. “I followed those leads here. I wouldn’t have thought I’d have a chance encounter with someone as interesting as you, Fellow Daoist.”
Su Yi’s brow furrowed slightly, but inwardly, he was quite startled. A taboo treasure!
Not counting the Sword of the Nine Hells, he’d only seen two taboo treasures: the Epoch Spark, which he’d fused into his body, and the mysterious sheath his first incarnation had left in the Path of the Ancient’ Gods’ Nine Great Celestial Trials!
According to his past lives’ memories, less than ten taboo treasures existed in the entire God Domain! Each had incomparably mysterious power.
Like the Western Paradise Spirit Mountains’ supreme sect-protecting treasure, the Maha Pearl, or the Three Purities Daoist Court’s Eight Views Diagram. Both were taboo treasures known throughout the God Domain.
But these known taboo treasures didn’t include the Lotus Seed of Light and Shadow!
There was no doubt about it. This divine treasure was the silver-robed man’s private property, and word of its existence hadn’t spread through the God Domain.
But that only made the silver-robed man’s origins seem all the more mysterious!
“Fellow Daoist, are you perhaps wondering if I’ll reveal that person’s location?” the silver-robed man asked with a smile.
“?” Su Yi looked at him strangely. When did I wonder anything of the sort?
But before he could say anything, the silver-robed man continued, “Rest assured, Fellow Daoist. I want something from him, so I naturally wouldn’t do anything that stupid. I even helped him get rid of some of his enemies on my way here.”
He drew his fingertip through the air, and a rain of light scattered from the lotus seed, reflecting a scene from the past.
The curtain of light reflected the silver-robed man killing a group of gods from Qingwu Divine Court.
“See? Those people were trying to investigate that man’s origins, so I killed them all,” laughed the man in silver robes.
Su Yi’s eyes flashed. “You really are going about this meticulously.”
“You exaggerate,” laughed the silver-robed man. “I need his help. It’s only natural that I’d do my utmost to express my sincerity.”
Su Yi said, “It seems to me that while displays of sincerity are nice, they’re no good without a little honesty.”
The silver-robed man hesitated, then smiled. “Friend, your advice has enlightened me. Should the opportunity arise to meet with him, I’ll be sure to be open with him and tell him that my name is Si Ming, and that I hail from an unknown territory, Clear Breeze Daoist Temple!”
Si Ming!
The little monkey sneered inwardly. Just as we thought. You weren’t ‘Ai Kun’ after all!
“Clear Breeze Daoist Temple?” Su Yi thought for a moment, then recalled where he’d heard that name before. Yi Daoxuan had visited and been involved with a few unknown territories before.
The God Domain was home to numerous unknown and mysterious territories.
Throughout the ages, those in the outside world had had no idea how many such unknown territories existed, where they were located, or how many secrets they hid. Even Master Gods knew very little about them.
But Yi Daoxuan had interacted with people from these unknown territories before. He knew a few of their secluded orthodoxies. They stayed out of worldly affairs, and they were all incomparably mysterious and transcendent.
Yi Daoxuan only knew of four of them, but Clear Breeze Daoist Temple was one of the four.
However, he only knew the name. He didn’t know anything else about the temple.
As for Li Fuyou? He’d heard a little about these unknown territories before, but he’d never interacted with anyone who lived there.
This made it obvious how mysterious these unknown territories were.
But this silver-robed man, Si Ming, was actually from Clear Breeze Temple, and he carried a taboo treasure, the Lotus Seed of Light and Shadow. It was obvious how extraordinary his origins were!
Don’t tell me that this guy is one of the destined rivals the River Lord said I’d have to contend with during the Dark Days of Legend? Su Yi wondered.
When he first set off for the God Domain, the River Lord warned him that when the Dark Days of Legend arrived, the former ironclad rules of the natural order would crumble.
More importantly, the River Lord told him that when the time came, he’d face true, unparalleled rivals. If he let them beat him, he’d… no longer be worthy of restoring order to the world.
He’d have to overcome more than just a few such rivals, too!
Su Yi couldn’t help but re-evaluate Si Ming.
There was no denying that he had quite the distinctive aura. It was so inscrutable that Su Yi couldn’t even tell how high Si Ming’s cultivation was!
