Foreign Land Reclamation By a Vegetable-growing Skeleton
Chapter 689: Ascetic Monk An, is the Light!Watching Hiludi, who was spinning and falling below, Ange rubbed his head. He asked for her help because of her super-strong space movement ability, but forgot about her severe fear of heights.
If each teleportation results in a fall like this, he might as well fly slowly on his own.
While pondering this, he cast a Pollination Technique, conjured a wind vortex, sucking Hiludi up before grabbing her with one hand.
“Phew——That scared me to death,” Hiludi gasped, then added awkwardly, “This is embarrassing, how about I refund half of the hiring fee?”
Ange tilted his head and asked, “How do you practice flying?”
She had been around Little Angel and Little Zombie for a while now, so she understood what Ange was asking. She laughed and explained, “When I used to practice, a familiar would put an Illusion Technique on me. No matter how high I flew, the ground always seemed close to me. My spiritual power has increased now, so the familiar’s Illusion Technique no longer affects me.”
“Illusion Technique?” Ange considered this, then touched his hat. The range of the Straw Man Hat immediately expanded to include Hiludi.
Hiludi only felt a blur in her vision, then saw solid ground under her feet as if it was just beneath her.
“Eh! The Straw Man Hat can be used this way?” Enthused Hiludi. She summoned her Magic Wand to stand upon it. As long as she didn’t have to worry about heights, she remained a powerful Space Arcanist.
She was quite clear about the effect of the Straw Man Hat, after all, this thing had a single function. As long as the spiritual power was lower than that of the wearer, one could not see through the objects transformed by the hat.Hiludi stared at the ground below her that seemed so vivid, and she couldn’t help but become curious. Just how high was his Lord’s spiritual power?
She was quite confident about her spiritual power. Although she was just an Arcane Magician, due to the uniqueness of space, she believed her spiritual power wouldn’t be weaker than that of an average Truth Mage.
However, she couldn’t see any flaws in the ground at her feet. With that in thought, she closed her eyes and held her palms tightly over her eyes only to open them suddenly——the Eye of Truth.
The Eye of Truth could break illusions and see through them, unless the Spellcaster’s spiritual power has a crushing advantage, all could be dispelled.
According to the experiments that she and Auburnli, a Truth Archmage and a thousand-year-old witch carried out, even her illusions were not able to resist Hiludi’s Eye of Truth.
Yet, when she opened her eyes, the ground was still vividly beneath her feet. No matter how much she blinked or rubbed her eyes, she still saw ground.
Could it be that… the gap between her and Lord Ange… was crushing?
Ange knocked on her head, dubiously pointing at a distant Sorrow Angel, “Up.”
“Oh, oh, oh.” Hiludi immediately perked up, pressed the tip of her foot forward, slanting her Magic Wand——Teleport.
By the time they reappeared, they had already entered the casting range. Ange zeroed in on a Sorrow Angel and a volley of Sacred Flame Missiles were launched.
Normally, sacred light wouldn’t harm angels, but these were Sorrow Angels, the only angels susceptible to sacred light. Their ugly appearance led people to often refer to them as Gargoyles instead.
Any type of defenses were futile against Ange’s twenty Sacred Flame Missiles per second. In two to three seconds, the targeted Sorrow Angel was already smoking all over, burning in sacred flames, spinning, and falling to the ground.
Ange swiftly shifted his gaze to a second Sorrow Angel. The Sacred Flame Missiles halfway through their flight changed direction and headed for the new target.
“Hisss——Re-targeting just like that? That’s way too easy, isn’t it?” Hiludi clicked her tongue.
Although re-targeting wasn’t something too difficult, doing it as casually as Ange and getting an entire volley of Sacred Flame Missiles to change direction demanded incredible skill and spiritual power.
Hiludi knew Ange was strong, but as to how, she wasn’t deeply aware because it wasn’t her field of expertise and thus was hard for her to understand.
Alright, now it makes sense. When it comes to Element Control, Ange was supremely powerful.
Hiludi didn’t need to do anything. He just had to charge forward with his magic wand. In the beginning, those Sorrow Angels tried to push forward, attempting to get close to assassinate Ange.
But as they managed to draw a bit closer, even though they posed no threat to Ange, he still roared for safety’s sake: “You are guilty!”
The Sorrow Angels were set ablaze like torches, plummeting to the ground like fireballs.
If the judgment for original sin didn’t consume so much Faith Elemental Force, Ange could easily set all the Sorrow Angels before him on fire. But there were still three thousand left, he had to be conservative.
The Lance Knight Legion halted from afar. The priest who had been shouting loudly was trembling with tears streaming down his face:
“No, no, we didn’t betray the Light, it’s these Sorrow Angels who betrayed the Light. The Doomsday Judgment, it’s all fake, fake! Those who have betrayed the Light were them, Ascetic Monk An embodies the Light!”
The rest of the Lance Knights, seemingly clutching at some lifeline, cried out passionately: “Ascetic Monk An embodies the Light! He is the Light!”
On Ange’s side, since all those thinking were Undead, and Anthony and Silver coin were too busy, they easily overlooked one thing— the collapse of faith.
Everyone knew what the consequences were after the farm fields were destroyed; if they didn’t know before, the major famine this year certainly gave them ample experience.
Now, the Sorrow Angels were wantonly destroying fields under the banner of Doomsday Judgment. They blatantly aimed to push all living creatures to a dead end. What did the devout believers and worshippers think of this?
Some people took a shower and lit incense, then set themselves on fire. Some went crazy and jumped into the river. Some chose to resist – the priests and others had chosen to resist and so they had chased after them.
Despite this, they felt very conflicted about acting against their previous faith. But now, Ange’s appearance gave them a new idea: could it be the stone monsters who deserted the Light?
Yes, that must be it, it was absolutely the case. Ascetic Monk An thinks so, Lord Anthony must be right!
Seizing what seemed to be a lifeline, everyone’s faith instantly strengthened.
The priest quickly took out his drawing board and sketched the scene before him. It turns out he was a gifted Demon painter, who usually refused to accept black money. He could earn a lot just by painting a few magic paintings:
“I want to spread the amazing deeds of Lord Ange, and tell more people — Ascetic Monk An, is the Light!”
A dozen or so Sorrow Angels died at Ange’s hand, unable to even escape. Even the speedy Silver Dragon of old couldn’t have escaped Hiludi’s chase. No matter how fast you fly, you can’t escape a Space Arcanist.
Ange was in a hurry. After he finished his battle and clocked off, he teleported away, leaving a group of dumbfounded Lance Knights behind.
The priest, brimming with tumultuous inspiration, had already completed his magic painting: Ange stood in the air, imbued with radiant Holy Light, countless rays of Light like piercing arrows, piercing the heaven and earth, with a dozen ugly, gruesome Sorrow Angels fleeing in disarray in the front.
The entire magic painting was filled with postmodern hyperrealistic style, magnificent and monumental, it vibrated hearts and souls at a glance.
Ange didn’t know the impact the painting will have on the devout followers of the church. Even if he knew, he didn’t have time to worry about it; after targeting and killing several small batches of Sorrow Angels, Ange ran headlong into an army.
Awaiting him were fifteen hundred Sorrow Angels in battle formation, and a faint consciousness under the shadow of a certain angel.
Ange abruptly used the Ring of Balance, his gaze locking onto that consciousness.
“God of Shadows?”
