Chapter 2882: Settling It

"Well, according to what he said, he is not sure whether Fang Heng can handle the B-level insect nest, but he is certain that handling a D-level insect nest alone is definitely not a problem. He believes Fang Heng will be able to help me."
Such a high evaluation?
Colette glanced at Fang Heng, who was standing next to boxes of sorted ore soldiers not far away, a bit surprised.
What? He was able to handle a D-level insect nest alone?
If that’s the case, why was he even working in their logistics department?
"Hey, brother, is that guy still around?"
"Yeah, he’s over there. He just brought in a batch of ore to complete a mission and exchange it for contribution points. I was wondering about that myself."
"Alright, I’ll go have a chat with him. If he can help, I’ll pay part of the commission contribution points myself."
Jayne said, and then went off to talk to Fang Heng.
Colette stood a bit further away, watching as Jayne handed Fang Heng a pack of rare Maotai chocolate and casually threw his arm over his shoulder to chat with him.
Not long after, Fang Heng said something to the nearby soldier, then left the warehouse with Jayne, chatting and laughing together.
Looks like they reached some kind of cooperation agreement?
Colette smiled bitterly and scratched his head.
Jayne knew how to communicate efficiently.
But...
Colette looked at the transport robots still continuously coming out of the catacombs.
Wait, it seemed Fang Heng had not stopped his ore deliveries?
The transport robots were still making constant trips between the ship and the passage below, transporting energy crystals back to the ship.
It seemed like it wasn’t over yet
Colette waved over the soldier who had just spoken to Fang Heng.
"Captain Colette."
"What did Fang Heng say to you before he left?"
"He said he’d be gone for a while to complete a mission but would be back soon. During this time, his machines will continue to transport materials, and he hoped we’d look after them. He offered us some contribution points, but we didn’t accept."
Colette fell silent.
So, there were still a lot of energy ores that had not been delivered yet?
Just as he was thinking, a cheerful voice sounded behind him.
"Colette, how’s it going? Haven’t seen you in a while. Everything good here?"
Colette turned around and looked at the big guy, Ymir, who had appeared behind him. He raised an eyebrow and asked, "You’re not here to find Fang Heng, are you?"
Ymir was taken aback for a moment, then scratched his head and laughed loudly. "Haha, amazing, you figured it out!"
Colette thought, as expected, and shook his head, "You’re too late. He just left with Jayne."
"D*mn! That kid! Always stealing my people!" Ymir grumbled, waving his hand. "Alright, I’m off to complete my mission. Let’s chat next time."
Compared to Jayne, Ymir clearly had a lower emotional intelligence.
Colette smiled bitterly inside.
D*mn, with Boyd’s big mouth, in half an hour, everyone on the ship will know about this Fang Heng guy.
...
Area C.
The transport ship slowly descended from the sky.
Jayne led the Federation elite team to the periphery of the battlefield for reinforcement.
Fang Heng was also among them.
Upon seeing the situation ahead, Fang Heng was somewhat surprised.
Wow, so many war machines?
The Federation army had already begun fighting against the insect nest and the mutant worm creatures, and the battle was still ongoing.
Unlike the previous D-level insect nest, the Federation team had deployed high-tier mechanical combat units in this area.
Fang Heng observed briefly, and the mechanical creatures could be categorized into three types.
One type was large creatures, over two meters tall, capable of releasing barriers to block the Rock Armored Gun Worms’ long-range artillery. These large machines moved across the ground with mechanical spider-like legs, creating a transparent crystal barrier with their front claws to intercept and absorb the enemy’s attacks.
Another type was smaller and hovered in the air, continuously firing light cannon beams from their guns. Although the fire rate was low, the area of effect was wide, and it could cause significant damage to the mutant worm hordes.
Lastly, there were many combat units gathering behind the soldiers, yet to engage in battle. They seemed to be melee units.
"Fang Heng."
Jayne’s gaze gradually shifted toward the war zone covered by the fungal blanket not far away.
"This insect nest is Level C. Compared to the D-level insect nest, the number and density of Rock Armored Gun Worms have greatly increased. Some mutant worms can crawl quickly on the ground, which are the fungal blanket creatures."
"Mutant worms? Fungal blanket creatures?"
Fang Heng asked, puzzled, looking toward the battlefield.
Where were they? He did not see them.
"You can’t see them now because they’re hiding within the fungal blanket. This helps them avoid being targeted by our energy beams. The blanket also absorbs a lot of the remote attacks, providing them protection."
"Once our team tries to get close to the defensive line of the mutant worms’ long-range artillery, the melee fungal blanket creatures will pop out to intercept us."
Jayne clearly had a hard time dealing with these mutant worm creatures. As he spoke, his expression grew more serious, and he continued, "We’ve already been fighting the mutant worm horde for hundreds of times, clearing out wave after wave, but unfortunately, their numbers haven’t been significantly reduced."
The Federation had invested a lot of time fighting the insect nest.
The results, however, were very limited.
Jayne had once boasted that he would handle it in three days and had asked for a huge subsidy from his superiors, exchanging it for Federation war machines, but when he actually engaged in battle, he was stunned.
The mutant worm hordes formed a defensive line, and the combat strength of the war machines he’d bought couldn’t even be put to use.
As the deadline approached, Jayne became anxious.
But he knew that being anxious wouldn’t solve the problem.
If he lost his judgment in haste, it would only lead to more unnecessary casualties.
"Fang Heng, if there’s anything you need, just let us know. We’ll try our best to accommodate you."
Jayne had placed all his bets on Fang Heng, spending 50,000 contribution points to hire him.
He didn’t expect Fang Heng to completely solve the insect nest, but just hoped he could help weaken the Rock Armored Gun Worms’ attacks a little.
That way, the war machines of the spawns could be put to good use.
Fang Heng thought for a moment.
Dealing with the Rock Armored Gun Worms would indeed be simple, but now that the mutant worms had joined in, the combination of melee and long-range units forming a defensive line could pose some difficulty.
Anyway, let’s give it a try.
Fang Heng assessed the progress of the Lickers digging tunnels and said, "I’ll try to disrupt the long-range defensive line formed by the Rock Armored Gun Worms, but I can’t guarantee how much I’ll be able to do. Also, I’ll need some time to prepare my summoned creatures."
