The rank 4 divine ability of the gang leader is why before fighting him, one must be prepared to fight the other four pets. A single fight with him is a fight with five enemies.
This is another reason why Legion didn’t bother to sneak up on the man and decided to attack him with five of their slaves at the same time.
The four pets are always close to gang leader Henry. Even when he is sleeping, he always has at least two close to him while the other two guard him.
The giant snake and giant leopard all slept on the same bed with him, while the giant bear and giant eagle guarded the bed. But no one did any sleeping when the alarm began to ring.
The alarm in the base began to run loudly in the night. This kind of alarm would only ring in the case of an attack.
The alarm made Henry and his four pets to wake up in a hurry and rush out to see what was going on.
As they rushed towards the entrance of the base, Henry said to himself, “I hope it is a beast attack. But how did a beast get here without alerting anyone along the way?”
Henry wasn’t afraid, though. He was confident that he would be able to resolve whatever was happening, so he was calm, and his steps were brisk.
His confidence lies in the fact that he has four epic-rank beasts. He decided not to risk his life to advance, so he concentrated his efforts on turning his pets into powerful beasts to increase his power.
With four epic beasts, he couldn’t fathom that a single enemy would be able to defeat him. He also didn’t think the attack would be serious. He expects the attacker to be a single beast or person.
He has no reason to believe otherwise because a large group of enemies would have surely alerted the whole base and because no large group of enemy will attack his base. So he confident in repelling the enemy.
It was why he thought to himself, “As long as the enemy is not an epic killer, I should be fine.”
He thought that because from rank 4, killers become unafraid of being outnumbered. In fact, the more enemies there are, the stronger a killer can become in battle.
He was confident, but he was also realistic about who he could fight and who he couldn’t. Unfortunately for him, the situation was worse than what he had in mind.
Not only were there five enemies, which nullified his advantage of numbers, but the five of them could use the divine abilities of the pathway of killing.
When Henry saw the enemies and felt the fluctuations of spiritual energy from their bodies, which marked them as epic godclads, his eyes widened in shock.
He said in disbelief, “What is going on?”
He knew what was going on at a glance. He could see that Golden Hammer had brought people to kill him. He just couldn’t believe it because the nobles had assured him that this wasn’t going to happen.
Even if Golden Hammer decided to attack him, it still didn’t explain where the extra two godclads came from. He had so many questions, which was why he asked what was going on.
However, no one answered him. The only reply he got was a roar from Golden Hammer as he activated Strength Boost and Berserk divine abilities.
After seeing that the situation was serious, he hurriedly shouted, “Stop. I’ll pay you. Just let me live.”
Henry didn’t want to fight after he was frightened. He was willing to give up everything he owned for a chance to live. After all, he was an epic being, and this was just business. It was nothing personal.
But the five enemies didn’t listen to him. They wanted his life because Legion didn’t want to let an enemy live.
Four of the slaves picked up a beast to attack while the Walking Hammer went directly to fight Henry. The rank 4 divine ability of Walkers called Phase Shift was the best to deal with the rank 1 ability of the pathway of life called Nurture.
If Henry throws seeds at the Walking Hammer, the seeds will fail to take root. Meanwhile, the Walking Hammer will be able to use either divine abilities to fight back.
Henry didn’t want to fight, so he turned and ran when he saw that Golden Hammer didn’t accept his surrender. He ordered his beasts to help him hold back his enemies while he escaped for his life.
Unfortunately for him, he couldn’t escape. Walking Hammer used Mental Armament to attack his mind, which made him stumble and fall in his attempt to escape.
Seeing that he couldn’t escape, Henry decided to activate all of his divine artifacts and fight to the death. The two sides began to fight in earnest.
Legion was amused by this. They said, “Two controllers. I wonder who will win.”
They meant that the fight was between two controllers. One of the controllers was Legion, who was controlling godclads. The other controller was Henry, who was controlling beasts.
The fight amused them because of this situation. They were amused, not fearful like Henry, because no matter the outcome of the battle, their lives won’t be at any risk.
In this fight, they had the superior troops. Not only are their slaves powerful on their own, but their slaves can also borrow their divine abilities.
Their slaves can only borrow divine abilities from a single pathway at a time, but that is still far more pathways than normal. This advantage will ensure that Legion will win in this fight.
But even if they lose, their safety is secure, and they can always recruit more slaves to try another day. This is what they liked the most about this fight.
While the fight between the leaders was going on within the base, the three other Hammers led the rest of the Golden Hammer gang to fight the enemy.
