GREED: ALL FOR WHAT?

Chapter 2231 - 2231: Noble Vs Telepath.

No matter how she shouted, no one listened to her because they had all been hypnotized to ignore her. So she was sealed in the carriage and was getting closer and closer to Legion.

This made her despair, so she decided to resort to the only power she had. She used all three of her divine abilities at the same time in hopes that one of them would work.

Rank 1 Noble Blood strengthened her physique from rank 3 to the level of a rank 4 godclad. Rank 2 Noble Suppression weakened everyone around her, but it didn’t work on Legion because they were out of the range of her power.

Lastly, she used rank 3 Setting Rules on herself. She declared with all her might, “The Mental Armament divine ability will be disabled all around me.”

This didn’t work either, and for the same reason as the last failure. Legion was out of the range of her power, so they were unaffected by her rule.

She could sense that the rule didn’t work because her mind was still being attacked and her rank 3 divine ability was only draining a little spiritual energy from her.

If the divine ability was working and actively enforcing the rule she set, the spiritual energy consumption should be higher. This made her heart sink, but she didn’t give up.

She set another rule, “The Mental Armament divine ability won’t work on me.”

This time the rule took effect. The attack on the mental shield in her mind stopped.

This meant that she didn’t have to resort to using the Aegis Shield divine artifact to defend herself. But her spiritual energy consumption skyrocketed.

She didn’t dare delay and tried to open the door of the carriage to escape. But the door was closed, so she tried to break through the walls of the carriage.

Unfortunately for her, the carriage was built to protect her from assassination, so it was very sturdy and resistant to physical force.

Despite having physical power that is 20 times that of an adult human being, the best she could do was dent the walls of the carriage and cause it to cave in.

It would take a lot of time before she could break through the wall. But in her current situation, time isn’t something she has.

The time that her rule will last depends on how much spiritual energy she has and how much of it is being consumed per second to enforce her rule.

How much is being consumed per second to enforce her rule depends on how strong the enemy she is suppressing with her rule is and how determined that person is to subvert her rule.

Legion was twice as strong as her in terms of spiritual power. They were also very determined to break through her mind, so instead of backing down after the rule was enforced, they continued to attack her mind.

Their determination caused the spiritual energy consumption needed to maintain the rule to double. All in all, she was losing 16 spiritual energy per second.

When that consumption is combined with the spiritual energy needed to maintain Noble Blood, her spiritual energy capacity of 40 units becomes a joke and utterly insufficient.

She ran out of spiritual energy two seconds after her rule took effect. This made her physical strength revert and exposed her again to the relentless mental assault.

The lack of enhancement from Noble Blood meant that she stood no chance of breaking the wall of a carriage built to resist epic beings. So she essentially became a mouse trapped in a jar.

Five seconds later, her mental shield was broken and had fallen. Then a mark of bondage had been placed on her mind.

From there, the mark of bondage infiltrated the core of her existence and introduced the pathway of the slave into it. Legion became excited because they were finally going to have a noble as a slave.

But halfway into the process of turning her into a slave, they stopped. It is because they intercepted a thought from Celine’s mind about how the telepath who built the mental shield would discover their intrusion and come to investigate.

Legion-1 said, “Such a pity.”

The other clones agreed because they had wanted to gain a noble as a slave. This was why they kept one of their slots for slaves open.

They thought they would finally get their wish when a noble came over, but they hit a rock as soon as they tried. Everything went downhill as soon as they discovered the mental shield.

They knew that the telepath who set up the shield would be notified that it was broken, but they still went through with the attack because they thought that they could make her dispel any suspicions when she became their slave.

But they found out from her mind that it was unlikely for her to be able to dispel any suspicion because her family possessed a divine artifact that could read past the past memories of a target.

This divine artifact is a mid-grade divine artifact made out of the body of a legendary telepath. It was forged to possess the rank 6 Memory Reading ability of the pathway of the telepath.

Because of this divine artifact, no one is going to ask Celine for her opinion or believe what she says. They can’t trust her words because she could be hypnotized or brainwashed or enslaved.

The only thing they will trust is the result of their investigation after they inspect her memories. That meant that they would discover what Legion did to her.

The risk of being exposed as a slaver was too much, so they decided to eliminate Celine. They thought it was a good idea to kill her since they already had people to pin the blame on.

With their minds made up, they shattered her soul and let the virtual flesh turn her broken mind into mind fragments. They also shattered the souls of her attendants to cut off any clues to them.
