Yu Dong didn’t hide anything and disclosed the truth at once. Qiu Bai was a cruel mer to begin with, so how could he not see through Yu Linyun’s attitude? He knew that the woman would sooner or later abandon him for the sake of her benefits; even if he didn’t do anything, with Yu Linyun’s greed, there was a very good chance that she might truly ruin him.
What was more, Qiu Bai loved his son more than himself. He was worried that if he didn’t do anything, Yu Linyun might bring another mer to their house and ruin his good deeds.
Kicking Yu Dong and her husbands out of their house and taking over their entire properties, he had done so much for the sake of Yu Cheng, all because he wanted to make sure that his son would live a comfortable life.
So how could he let someone else take over the properties that he had accumulated for his son?
So, he started to poison Yu Linyun slowly to make sure that he would cut off any chances of her impregranting a mer. Yu Linyun of course had no idea that Qiu Bai had done such a thing. Though she didn’t like Qiu Bai, she obviously took his servile attitude for granted and thought that he would never harm her as he cared for her to the point where he would not dare to go east if she was to west.
Who would have thought that behind that sweet and caring attitude, Qiu Bai was hiding such sinister thoughts?
If Yu Linyun had married a normal mer, she would have found out that there was something wrong with her quite easily, however, who would have thought that she would marry a mer who was already carrying the child of some wild woman?
Because of this, the matter of her poisoning was hidden for so long.
So, the reason why Yu Dong didn’t say a word when Old Master Tong was clamouring for separation was because she wanted Yu Linyun to lose that one backing who could have saved her when her dirty dealings were found.
Now that Old Master Tong was disgusted and disappointed by Yu Linyun, there was no way he would help her when the yamen officers would arrest Yu Linyun.
Yu Dong sneered when she thought about how Yu Linyun joined hands with Madam Zheng and sold out the information of the Big River Village to her without even thinking twice about the consequences of her actions.
Now that Madam Zheng knew the truth, the secret of their village was almost out, which meant that it wouldn’t take long for Xian Xieren to attack her village.
When Yu Dong thought about that possibility, she clenched her teeth in disgust. She did not want to leave her family and ignore the growth of her children, but now that the situation was out of control like this, Yu Dong had no choice but to join the army under Xian Zhenya.
When she thought about how she had to leave her husbands and children, Yu Dong was so furious that she wished she could skin Yu Linyun alive and drink her blood.
This hatred that the two of them had would never be solved. Even if Yu Dong was to send Yu Linyun to the yamen, this hatred would never be resolved.
Of course she could stay at home and leave the matter at the end of Xian Zhenya but who was going to guarantee that her family would be able to live in peace with this war getting dragged on?
At least if she went and joined, her family would be able to stay alright for the time being.
“Madam Zheng and Yu Linyun are in cahoots,” explained Yu Dong. “Yu Linyun was in charge of relaying the entire information about security and the rounds of cattle in the village, as well as who was the one responsible for leading them.”
“Because Madam Zheng is a smart woman, she didn’t actually think of using these cattle on her own but actually wanted to sell them to the capital,” This was what Yu Dong found out after beating the guards who were helping Miss Zheng in kidnapping the cattle. “I am afraid that the information might have already been relayed to Xian Xieren.”
That woman was already suspicious of their village due to the mall that was now famous in more than ten villages and cities; the imperial guards have patrolled this area so many times because of this. What Yu Linyun had done basically confirmed that their village was a treasure chest.
Now, it was just a matter of time for the attacks to begin.
Yu Dong knew that she could no longer stay still anymore; after leaving the matter of safety of the village in the hands of Qiao Sha and Magistrate Li., she had to leave for the battle field almost at once.
But before that, she had to send Yu Linyun to the yamen lest that woman cause any more troubles.
Once the Yu family finished listening to Yu Dong’s words, their expression turned into that of an alarming one. They looked at Yu Dong before Chen Mi stammered out,
“War…you are going to join the war?” Chen Mi stammered.
“I have no choice,” Yu Dong sighed. If possible, she would have stayed in her house safely, but that was no longer possible. If she didn’t help Xian Zhenya win the war as quickly as possible, the danger looming over their heads would never disappear.
“I refuse!” Ye Liu pushed his chair so hard that it fell on the ground with a bang. His eyes turned red as he said to Yu Dong, “How can you go—go to war? I am about to give birth; you are about to become a mother. You also need to hold a wedding with Xiao Hua and the kids—they can’t even spend weeks without you. How can you think about leaving them for years?”
Was Yu Dong crazy? How could she think of leaving them and going to the battlefield?
