There were many forbidden areas on the Cloud River Battlefield. Many of them were the territories of Champion-class Spirit Beasts. For example, no cultivators would dare enter the Berserk Giant Ape’s territory on the Grand Wilds Peak.

However, there were many places that were simply environmentally hostile. Even Cloud River Realm Masters were unable to endure the hostility.

Five Poisons Pond was undoubtedly one of those places. The environment wasn’t so different from Myriad Poison Forest. There were countless venomous beings, and their breathing made the entire pond covered in a poisonous fog that would never go away.

That said, the venomous beings and the poisonous fog were more potent than those in Myriad Poison Forest.

After all, one was a forbidden area on the Spirit Creek Battlefield while the other was on the Cloud River Battlefield. Therefore, a difference in potency was expected.

In such a forbidden area, there were countless venomous spiders, centipedes, frogs, snakes, and scorpions. As such, they were collectively called the Five Poisons.

Although the place was called a pond, it wasn’t small. If one looked at it from above, he would see an expansive and deep abyss. No one could see the bottom of Five Poisons Pond.

It was rumoured that some Champion-class Spirit Beasts lived in this place. Nevertheless, no cultivators dared approach such a dangerous area, so no one knew if there were indeed Champion-class Spirit Beasts.

Lu Ye drove his Spirit Boat and hovered 300 metres above the abyss. He looked down and saw the poisonous fog rolling. It was as if an ominous beast would emerge at any moment.

He glanced pensively at Hua Ci and said, “This place is extremely dangerous. Are you sure you want to cultivate here?”

On the other hand, Hua Ci’s eyes brightened when she looked at it. She had found Five Poisons Pond on the ten-point map and deduced from the name that it was a suitable place for her to cultivate. However, she had never been here before, nor had she asked around about the place.

It wasn’t until she saw the environment with her eyes that she was immediately certain it was the best place for her. It was a place that other cultivators wanted to stay as far away as possible, but it was the place of her dream.

“Yes, I’m sure.” Hua Ci smiled and took a step forward before jumping off the Spirit Boat. Her clothes flapped in the air as she fell, making her look gorgeous.

Lu Ye kept the Spirit Boat and followed her. At the same time, he looked within him and watched the reaction of the Tree of Glyphs.

Once he fell into the abyss, a grey mist appeared around the Tree of Glyphs. The further down he went, the more violently the tree reacted.

It went to show how hostile the environment was. He reckoned the poison was ten times more potent than that in Myriad Poison Forest.

Nevertheless, Hua Ci appeared joyful as she looked around. It was as if she had arrived at a lush garden instead of a horrifying place for Cloud River Realm Masters.

[This woman…] Lu Ye looked at her charming figure and shook his head. If not for the fact that he had the Tree of Glyphs, he wouldn’t even have the right to touch her.

Hua Ci didn’t go to the deepest part. Although she cultivated with poison, she had her own limit. Due to her inheritance, she was more sensitive than anyone when it came to the perception of poison.

Therefore, even though she didn’t have the Tree of Glyphs, she could feel that the further down she went, the more potent the poison would be. The place where she stood now was the best spot for her to cultivate.

She landed on a protruding rock on the wall before she took a deep breath and spread her arms. It was as if she wanted to embrace the entire Five Poisons Pond.

“I’ll be my territory from now on!” she announced ecstatically.

Sadly, Lu Ye was her only listener.

She had cultivated in Myriad Poison Forest before, and by the time she left, the forest had become history.

Lu Ye couldn’t imagine what this place would look like when Hua Ci was done with her cultivation and left.

Perhaps even the Five Poisons Pond would become a safe area. In that case, her power would’ve increased tremendously by then.

“Why don’t you think it over?” Lu Ye asked and looked at the rock face. There was a dark, small snake that was wandering around and hissing. As the snake hissed, some poisonous breath wafted from its mouth.

“What’s there to consider?” Hua Ci replied with a smile.

“I can’t stay here with you for a long time.”

If he had sufficient fuel for the Tree of Glyphs, he could stay here and keep the woman company. However, if he stayed here for a long time, his reserve of fuel would be used up in no time.

Even if he set up some Wards here, they might not be able to fend off the poison.

Hua Ci turned to look at him and smiled faintly. “Thanks for your kindness, but I’m no longer a child. Cultivation is a boring activity, so I don’t need anyone to keep me company. If not for Yi Yi and Amber, you would’ve been lonely along the way. If I can’t even bear such loneliness, how am I supposed to cultivate my power?”

Lu Ye nodded. “Stay here. I’ll take a look deep down.”

With that, he swam further down, and Hua Ci was unable to stop him. Since he couldn’t stay by the woman’s side, he had to make sure that nothing in this place could threaten her safety.

Although he didn’t make it clear, Hua Ci understood his intention. As such, she felt warm in her heart.

Soon, she felt the violent fluctuations of Spiritual Powers coming from below. Saber Cries and hisses and growls were occasionally heard. It seemed that Lu Ye was in a fight with some creatures.

It wasn’t until the next day that he returned. Although he looked fine, Hua Ci could tell that he had changed into new clothes.

He approached the woman and tossed a Storage Bag at her. With a hint of elation on his face, he said, “The rumours are false. There are no Champion-class Spirit Beasts here.”

He had come across many Spirit Beasts in the Cloud River Realm, though. There were many sorts, but none of them were Champion-class Spirit Beasts. He had wanted to contend with one in this place.

Hua Ci took the Storage Bag and opened it before seeing many Mutant Cores, snake galls, and poison sacs. Apparently, Lu Ye had acquired them for her.

The number of items showed that he had killed many venomous beings this time.

“What’s this?” As Hua Ci spoke, she fished out a flower from the Storage Bag. The flower was black and palm-sized. At first glance, there seemed to be an eerie smile printed on it.

“Ghost-Faced Datura?” Hua Ci looked at the man in shock. “Did you find it down there?”

Lu Ye dipped his head. “There are a lot of these at the bottom. I don’t know what they are. Since they look potently poisonous, I’ve decided to bring you one. Is it useful?”

He made such a judgement because many venomous beings lived in that area, and they seemed to love the flowers.

“It’s immensely useful to me!” Hua Ci nodded affirmatively.

“I’ll pick all of them for you, then.” With that, Lu Ye was ready to dive.

Hua Ci took his arm and shook her head. “There’s no need for that. Just leave them there. One day, I’ll go down and pick them.”

After giving it some thought, Lu Ye stopped insisting. “Sure.”

If a cultivator didn’t have a goal, she wouldn’t have the motivation to work harder.

The Ghost-Faced Daturas at the bottom could serve as a goal for Hua Ci, and she would cultivate harder to get them.

There were many venomous beings in Five Poisons Pond that Lu Ye didn’t kill. However, they wouldn’t pose a threat to Hua Ci, considering her power.

“You may leave now. This place is hazardous for your health,” Hua Ci said softly.

“I’ll take my leave, then.”

When he turned around, he suddenly recalled something. He then said, “By the way, I have one more thing for you.”

“What is it?” Hua Ci asked curiously.

“Extend your hand.”

Hua Ci obliged and extended her jade-like delicate hand.

Lu Ye balled up his fist as though he was gripping something, and he gently placed it on the woman’s palm.

Hua Ci was initially expectant, but when she felt the hairy and prickly sensation, her face turned pale as if she had been struck by lightning.

She looked up and saw Lu Ye smirking at her. She looked down again, and when Lu Ye moved his hand away, there was already a spider squirming on her palm.

At that moment, Lu Ye could see the woman’s bodily hair standing on end.

Hua Ci immediately retracted her hand and cast the spider away. She seemed to be horrified, and driven by instincts, she crashed into the man’s arms, bringing with her a wisp of fragrance. She clung to him while her body trembled uncontrollably.

Suddenly, the smirk on Lu Ye’s face froze, for he didn’t expect the woman to react in such a way.

He remembered that when they were on Chess Island during the Battle Royale of the Legates, Lu Yushan, who was from Thousand Gear Pavilion, fished out a lifelike Golem that looked like a spider, and Hua Ci was so terrified that she broke it with her palm.

He had only meant to tease her before they parted ways, but it seemed that he had gone too far.

The woman’s plump chest felt soft in his embrace. Given his perception, he could clearly feel the curves of her chest. He could also smell the intoxicating fragrance, and her long hair flapped in the air and made his face feel ticklish.

Her heart pounded in her chest as rapidly as drum beats, and her head buried deep in his arms. It was as though she could only feel a sense of safety by doing so.

A wave of guilt swept through Lu Ye. He patted her shoulder and parted his dry lips to placate her, saying, “I… Ouch!”

Hua Ci suddenly pinched his waist and twisted the flesh.

After venting her anger, she moved away and glowered at Lu Ye, her tears threatening to stream down her cheeks.

An embarrassed Lu Ye looked away and scratched his head before letting out a hollow laugh. “I’ll take my leave now. Please take care of yourself. I’ll visit you when I have some free time.”

In the end, he still didn’t dare look her in the eye.

Fortunately, he knew that Hua Ci wouldn’t be furious or detest him over this incident. It just seemed that he had indeed crossed the line. He decided that he wouldn’t do such a thing again.

At the same time, he regretted not bidding her a proper farewell, for he wasn’t even certain when they would meet again after the separation this time.
