Chapter 226
"I don't see any monsters around, so they must have seen Pen and fled."
The walk back out of the dungeon was peaceful.
Pen's mere presence was enough to scare most of the monsters away.
"Corleone Jr. I thought dungeons usually collapse after the boss is captured, but what happened in this case?"
"It's probably because the boss's authority was transferred when Pen ate the boss, so it will naturally collapse if Pen leaves here."
As I say that, I glance at Pen in front of me.
Gone was the majestic, gigantic body of a giant dog, replaced by the body of a medium-sized dog, and it was walking eagerly forward, showing off its regal demeanor.
"Pen. Don't you have any enemies around?"
-None. Only the tasteless ones are running hard.
A spirit with the ability to detect its surroundings by smell and a fire elemental is a pretty good match.
If only I had elemental affinity, I'd be taming him myself.
Speaking of which.
"Pen."
-Come on, human.
"Do you eat metal?"
-I do eat metal.
As it turns out, he eats metal as well as fire, according to the myths.
The more I look at it, the more I want it. I'm sure this guy will help me with my dungeon hunting..
"Elena."
"Yes?"
"Do you want to come to Etna Volcano?"
"Really?!"
She turned around with a very bright expression on her face, probably because she suddenly had an opportunity.
Michaela, next to her, looks at me with concern.
"Corleone Junior, don't you think it's too dangerous?"
"It's okay, Elena will be protected by Sister."
"What?"
"Honestly, Im not worthy of being guarded all the way to Etna Volcano, but that doesn't mean I'm going to go it alone."
"Well, someone of Corleone Junior's caliber certainly is, but well, I think I can at least keep an eye on Sister a little more carefully, just in case."
"Right?"
So taking Elena with me isn't a big deal, then.
"Then Elena should come with us, too. Oh, there's the exit."
Just as we made it all the way out of the dungeon, we heard a popping sound coming from the entrance of the dungeon we came out of.
"So collapses as soon as Pen comes out, Corleone Jr. was right."
"Right, so tomorrow there's a final gathering of the Venetian Guild guys before the raid, so I guess we should get ready to bring Elena along?"
"What? Uh, where?"
Elena was surprised to hear her name suddenly called.
"Uh, to a party. Usually the big name guilds with money rent a ballroom somewhere to celebrate before a raid. This time, they're renting the ballroom at my hotel."
"Is that something we have to go to?"
"Probably, if you're in the raid."
"Thatwould be difficult, because I've never been to a place like that before."
"Oh."
I could see what was holding her back.
Judging by the time, it wasn't even afternoon yet.
"Well, why don't we go shopping?"
"What? Shopping?"
She's surprised by the sudden suggestion.
"Well, I happen to have some byproducts of the creatures we killed in the dungeon today, and I think we could make a pretty nice shopping spree if we sell them."
With that, I took out the byproducts of the fire lizards and other monsters she had killed in the dungeon today.
At this, her worried expression turns into a smile.
"Shall we go then?"
This is the least I can do for my future junior.

We walked to a huge shopping mall in the center of Palermo.
"Wow I've never been to a department store like this before."
Elena looked around in wonder at the magnificent department store from the entrance.
"The clothes are this way, follow me."
We walked to the clothing section, which was definitely an Italian department store, with many famous luxury brands.
"All the stuff I saw on the internet or TV! Is this the only place like this? I don't think there are any other customers besides us."
She was puzzled by the fact that, unlike other places, there was no one else in sight except us. I replied that it was no big deal.
"Because we rented this place."
"What? You rented it?"
She looks more confused than surprised.
"Because it's complicated when there are a lot of other people. I rented this area until closing, so you can take your time and no one will judge you."
This was the result of asking Latte in mainland Italy, who told me it was a perk of my card.
"So how much can I spend? I mean, we're not going to make any money today."
"Oh, you know what? It's a lot more than you think, so take your pick. If you can't decide, ask a staff member. You're a VIP, they'll take care of you."
"Wow! Yes!"
She enters the nearest store with excitement. Then I hear Michaela's voice from the side.
"Corleone Junior, why are you lying to Sister Elena?"
"Huh? What?"
"With the money we made today, I think we could barely buy something here."
She was right, we didn't make that much money today.
Maybe just enough to buy a bag?
But
"It's a lobby of sorts."
"A lobby?"
"Because now that she has Pen, Elena is no longer just an ordinary elemental, she's a ranked one, if not the best, and if I can buy her favor, the money I spent today is a bargain."
Plus, she's going to the banquet tomorrow as my companion, so I need to dress her properly.
"I see, then, Corleone Jr."
She asks, tugging at the hem of my dress.
"Why aren't you lobbying me?"
"You?"
She suddenly says something unintelligible.
"What do you mean, Sister, you don't dress like that, and you work for the Vatican."
"But it might be nice to buy me something as a favor, don't you think?"
"That's true, but."
"I like wine. As soon as we're done here, let's go see the wine."
I can't help but chuckle at the way she's declaring her intention to take the lobby in her own hands.
"Well, sure."
I might run into her again somewhere later.
I walked into the store to see what Elena was picking out.
"Ah, Eugene. What do you think?"
Elena had just come out of the dressing room and was standing there in a colorful outfit, a change from her usual modest attire.
It was a black, frilly dress that matched her long blonde hair and her pale skin.
"Ooh. Sister. How beautiful you are."
It was Michaela who spoke before me.
"Ah, does Sister think so too? Eugene?"
"It's fine. Let's try something else."
I put her outfit aside and immediately started picking out other clothes for her.
It's hard for me to say, but my objective eye, honed by years of experience, is at the highest level.
I was confident in my ability to pick out clothes.
There's no point in playing the game if you give up the character customization!
"Here's a coat, and a neck scarf, and these shoes, and a belt. And the bracelet."
I immediately put all the items I liked to one side.
Elena, who had been smiling broadly, began to stiffen and.
"Well, Eugene, isn't this more than I earned today?"
"Oh, that's right, it's not even close to what we' earned today."
"What?"
"That's it. Ill pay for everything."
With that, I handed the cashier my black card.
"I have your card, sir. Payment is-"
"In one lump sum."
"Yes, you've paid you in a lump sum. The total will be 123 million won. Do you want the goods right here?"
"Please send it by courier. Elena, I've marked your mother's package separately, so I'll give it to her separately. Come here and write down your home address."
"What? Uh, is that?"
She's still reeling.
"If it's sister's home address, I have it memorized.
Michaela stepped forward and wrote down Elena's home address.
"Uh that uh."
"Sister. Please take care of Elena, we have to go buy wine."
"Okay, Sister, follow me, you never know when Corleone Jr. might have a change of heart."
"Aaaaah."
And just like that, the day's shopping was over until we got to the wine shop.
I felt my shoulders slump as I looked at Elena, who had completely changed into a new outfit and was holding onto her old one, and Michaela, who was giggling over the wine in the paper bag with both hands.
"That was really nice of you to go out of your way today, and I'm sorry."
"You have nothing to apologize for, it's Sister over there who should be apologizing."
With that, I look at Michaela and the wine she's holding.
"Those two bottles of wine cost more than the clothes you bought today, so you don't have to apologize."
I can't believe she picked wines that cost tens of millions of units per bottle.
I thought Italians were very proud of their wines.
"Isn't that a French wine?"
"Corleone Junior, how can wine have borders?"
that didn't seem to work for her.
"Don't be too hard on yourself, Corleone Junior. You know better than anyone that money can't buy power of that nature, don't you?"
"That is true, but Sister, you are as shameless as ever."
"It's my strength."
Though it's a disadvantage to others.
"Oh, right. Elena, about that thing I told you the other day."
"What?
As I say this, I nonchalantly throw it' at her.
In response, Elena unconsciously catches the object.
"Is this?"
"The one I told you about last time. The Aventador."
And the Aventador was now standing in front of us.
"Wait, you're kidding, right?"
"I'm serious. Turn the key in the ignition."
Boom, boom, boom!!!
At the same time, a powerful exhaust note erupted from the red Aventador standing in front of us.
"Wow."
She looks at me with a fierce look on her face, even more so than when I bought her clothes.
"Take us home."
I smile back at her. The lobby is done for the day.
All that's left is tomorrow's war of words with the Venetians.
"I hope it goes as smoothly as possible."
Somehow, my gut was screaming at me that this would never happen.
* * *
Michaela walks out onto the balcony of the suite, dressed in all white, with the moon obscured by black clouds, as if even the moon is asleep.
She sits down on her knees and begins furiously folding something, as if in prayer.
She spontaneously folds it into the shape of a bird and sends it flying in an ever-so-plausible direction.
So a paper bird glides in one direction.
The bird flies toward its ever-present nest and is in low flight when
Tap!
A mouse scurries across the floor and snatches it up, dragging it to the ground.
"Well done, Ratatouille."
-Snap!
Reclaiming the now routine report.
Shoving her hands into her pockets, she took the report from the rat and looked at the day's report.
"Hmm?"
She looks at it, intrigued, and then whips out her phone and dials someone.
~A brief beep~
-Hello.
"Hey, Master. It's Latte, there's some pretty troubling information in today's letter. What should I do?"
~A brief pause~
-The usual filtering and shuffling of useless stuff.
"Yep. Got it! Wow, by the way, Sister's report skills are getting slower by the day."
-Really? Then I have a funny thought.
On this day the Vatican's intelligence service was turned upside down.
