I have Immortality In The Cultivation World
Chapter 443: Buddhist PlottingThe title of Elder Brother.
Other monks might be accused of aggrandizing themselves, but Fa Ding’s claim was legitimate and well-founded.
Nearly one thousand four hundred years ago, Fa Ding and the Elder Brother were disciples under Yin Guang Luohan, fighting demons and dividing Wish Power Beads with fellow disciples from the three teachings. It could be said they spent decades of exhilarating times.
Back then, they would drink heartily, eat meat without restraint, and divide incense offerings by the large scale!
They may not have been of high cultivation or power at the time, but they were carefree, hopeful for longevity, and truly among the immortals!
“Guanyin Bodhisattva, when practicing the profound Prajna Paramita…”
As Fa Ding reached this point in his recollection, he suddenly switched to recounting the Heart Sutra, which, as one of the fundamental scriptures of Buddhism, can be both simple and understandable or intricate and profound. It was the Elder Brother’s favorite scripture to ponder.
In those years, the Elder Brother hung “form is emptiness, emptiness is form” on the edge, and yet, he was an esteemed member of the Flying Immortal Pavilion.
Back then, Fa Ding was just one of many unnoticed disciples. Seeing the Elder Brother’s paradoxical yet harmonious actions, he would often gain insights akin to the Buddha feeding his flesh to the eagle, and thus his understanding of the Buddhist Law deepened by the day.
A millennium has passed since then, and now they meet again.Fa Ding had a myriad of emotions in his heart, but he didn’t know where to start.
“In this Cultivation World of Shen Zhou, perhaps only you, Elder Brother, are truly striving with all your might for the sake of all beings!”
At this moment, below the dais.
Sun Changsheng stood in the crowd, his innate sensitivity alerting him that there was something amiss about the monk before him.
“Could it be that he has noticed my cultivation level?”
Divine Sense swept over again and, despite repeated observation with his spiritual eyes revealing no noticeable cultivation, the intuition of a cultivator at the Divinity Transformation stage is not without reason.
“Let’s go, let’s go. This scripture isn’t as well-spoken as my master’s.”
Sun Changsheng waved his hand, with servants and carriages following behind, struggling to make their way out of the crowd.
Fa Ding watched this scene, activating his Divine Power of incense offerings and suddenly a young monk appeared in the city, identical in aura and appearance to the one from a thousand years ago. ṜÃꞐỌΒЕS
“All outcomes arise from karma…”
…
In the eastern market.
Servants shouted to collect livestock, and Sun Changsheng expertly bargained.
“Amitabha.”
Suddenly, a Buddhist chant was heard, and a gaunt monk stood not far away, bowing to Sun Changsheng: “This humble monk, Fa Ding, greets the benefactor.”
A glint of sharpness flashed in Sun Changsheng’s eyes as he perceived the Nascent Soul cultivation of the monk before him, whose Mana aura was undisguised. Moreover, he had cast an Invisibility Technique, yet the ordinary people brushing past were completely unaware.
He silently transmitted his voice: “This humble Daoist, Sun Changsheng, advises you to be cautious, friend. Using spells in the mortal world goes against the heavenly laws!”
“Changsheng, what a good name.”
Fa Ding praised repeatedly, asking, “Where does Benefactor Sun come from, and where is he going?”
“This humble Daoist is naturally nurtured and does not know where he comes from.”
Sun Changsheng spoke truthfully: “I am but a Loose Cultivator with the Four Seas as my home, dwelling nowhere fixed.”
Fa Ding’s face lit up with pleasure: “Since the benefactor has no destination, why not come to Spirit Mountain to cultivate? Even the Heavenly Court cannot reach you there.”
“I will not go, will not go.”
Sun Changsheng repeatedly shook his head, his master had cautioned him before descending the mountain; he could fraternize with Buddhism but must not truly become a Buddhist disciple, on the contrary.
“And where do you come from, great monk?”
Fa Ding spoke candidly: “This humble monk comes from Spirit Mountain, wandering the mortal world, measuring the earth, preaching, and healing in the cities visited, all to comprehend and spread the Buddha’s teachings.”
Sun Changsheng praised: “Not bad, not bad, doing some good deeds, unlike those monks who only know how to chant scriptures from their lofty positions.”
Fa Ding was not annoyed by these words, and stood next to the carriage, engaging in continuous conversation with Sun Changsheng.
They discussed Buddhist scriptures, debated Taoist texts, touched upon the teachings of mending and severing heaven, and even spoke of famous places across the Four Seas and a thousand mountains. However, no matter the topic, Sun Changsheng always knew exactly what to say.
When Sun Changsheng cultivated on the island, he combed through the Taoist scriptures, among which was a volume about the wonders of Shen Zhou, recording what Zhou Yi had seen and heard.
It truly was the Elder Brother!
Fa Ding was ecstatic in his heart, now quite certain, as he had never seen a second scholar so well-versed in his thousand years of cultivation.
The Elder Brother had mastered both Buddhism and Taoism, his Buddhist skills comparable to an Arhat, his Taoist skills to those of a celestial being. If not for the overwhelming negative aura above his head, he would surely not have stalled at the Nascent Soul Realm.
After chatting for a while, Sun Changsheng’s carriage was filled with cattle and sheep.
“Master, I shall take my leave now. If we are destined, we will discuss the Buddhist Law another day.”
“Good indeed, good indeed!”
Fa Ding bowed and said, “Spirit Mountain will always hold a place for the benefactor in Buddha’s rank!”
Sun Changsheng frowned slightly, his master had warned repeatedly that pies don’t just fall from the sky; this monk seemed too familiar too quickly.
He drove his carriage out of the city, waving his hand to gather the monkey fur and livestock, and fled in the direction opposite to his cave abode.
After escaping tens of thousands of miles, he took out a Copper Coin to perform the severing heaven technique.
The Copper Coin fell to the ground, bursting with spiritual light, and formed a mysterious seal character.
God!
“Is it a portent of great luck? With such a character, could it be that I am about to assume a position among the Heavenly Court Righteous Gods?”
Sun Changsheng’s face showed joy. He wasn’t asking for much, just to be a minor deity with some real power, and to get along well with the Mountain God and the land. Hiding his troop of monkeys would be much easier then.
Returning to the underground cave.
The monkey troop was safe and sound, the Formation and Prohibition untouched without any trace of disturbance, and no foreign cultivators had probed it.
Sun Changsheng could finally relax. A mere Nascent Soul Daoist couldn’t escape his Divine Sense. With a wave of his hand, he shattered the livestock he had collected into a blood rain that fell upon the forty-eight thousand Stone Monkeys.
…
Meanwhile.
The monk preaching in the city had already shifted to a separate incarnation of Fa Ding, while the True God original hastened toward Spirit Mountain.
In the Great Heroic Treasure Hall.
A streak of light fell, interrupting Dajue Arhat who was in the midst of a sermon.
“Brother…”
Fa Ding glanced around, waved his hand to usher all the monks out of the hall, then manifested his True God form, with a Golden Body of the Luohan hundreds of feet tall enveloping the hall to ensure complete isolation from heavenly secrets, before continuing to speak.
