Imprisoned for a Trillion Years, I Was Worshipped by All Gods!
Chapter 634 - Chapter190-Unequal IntelligenceWhen Alan stepped into the heart of the lake, several streaks of blood suddenly surfaced from its calm, mirror-like surface.
The ambushers lurking beneath the water clearly overestimated themselves. They had naively assumed that hiding in the depths would guarantee their success in taking Alan down.
What they never expected, however, was that Alan had never entered the water in the first place. The only thing submerged was his staff.
Had they chosen a frontal assault instead, these attackers—if united—might have posed a moderate threat to Alan. But unfortunately for them, they’d gotten clever in all the wrong ways. Each had split up, choosing to ambush him one by one, believing it offered a higher chance of victory.
That critical misjudgment sealed their miserable fate.
“Hm? What’s this?!” Alan suddenly narrowed his eyes. His expression sharpened, clarity returning to his gaze.
A wave of imminent danger surged through his senses.
That heightened vigilance instantly pulled his awareness back to full focus.
Danger approached from every direction, but Alan couldn’t pinpoint exactly where the hidden enemy lay. And to make matters worse, he had to divert part of his mana to maintain his position hovering over the lake. If that mana supply were interrupted for even a moment, he would plummet straight into the water.
And while Alan could swim, battling underwater would severely limit his range of motion and effectiveness. His combat capabilities would be drastically reduced.
Which meant the most urgent task now was to locate the enemy.
But there was another major problem—the enemy was hidden, and Alan was exposed. The element of timing was entirely in the ambusher’s control. If Alan made any sudden moves, his opponent would likely strike at the first opportunity, catching him off guard.
Before identifying the enemy’s position, Alan would first have to ensure his own safety.
After a brief moment of contemplation, Alan made his move.
He looked up suddenly and then stomped hard with both feet on the water’s surface, propelling himself sharply into the air.
That was precisely the moment the attacker had been waiting for.
As soon as Alan left the surface, a shadow burst up from beneath the lake—a figure rocketing upward, hurling a powerful punch at Alan without a word.
Simultaneously, multiple razor-sharp water spears shot up from the lake’s surface like extensions of the ambusher’s fist, aiming to cut off any path of retreat.
But Alan wasn’t the least bit fazed.
In fact, everything was unfolding exactly as he had anticipated.
Just as the ambusher’s attack was about to land, Alan, suspended in midair, suddenly shifted sideways. With the tip of his foot, he gently tapped one of the water spears.
Then, in an instant, Alan shot higher into the sky like a launched rocket, disappearing further from his attacker’s reach.
The ambusher froze, stunned.
Using a water spear as a foothold to dodge an attack—it wasn’t exactly a formal technique, more like a desperate improvisation.
But what then? How was Alan planning to survive the fall?
After all, despite appearances, the lake below could be as deadly as solid stone at extreme heights. The impact from a fall that great would turn the water’s soft surface into a deadly wall. Bones could be shattered—death wasn’t just possible, it was likely.
Puzzled, the attacker dispersed his water spears and looked up, quietly watching Alan plummet from above.
At first, just as expected, Alan was falling rapidly under the pull of gravity.
But then, something unexpected happened.
The attacker’s eyes widened in disbelief.
Midair, Alan flipped his body gracefully and tapped the air with his feet as though stepping on invisible platforms.
One step. Two. Three.
The air itself seemed to condense under his feet, forming invisible footholds that stopped his descent and held him steady in the sky.
Alan walked down the invisible stairs as though descending from the heavens.
Step by step, he approached the attacker—who now looked completely dumbfounded.
Then, without a word, Alan conjured a sword of pure elemental energy and thrust it forward.
The attacker finally snapped out of his stupor and hastily summoned a water spear to block the strike.
Drawing endlessly from the water around him, the attacker was able to match Alan’s wind-elemental sword. The clash of elements created a powerful shockwave that sent both of them flying backward several meters.
Water droplets burst like a downpour, drenching both men to the bone.
The attacker stared at Alan with a grave expression, shocked and wary.
“You… you can walk on air… That’s something no tier-bronze magus should be able to do!”
Alan chuckled, casting a mocking glance at his opponent.
The bounty issued by Lioncrest Academy was already outdated. Even Stephen—the one behind the bounty—couldn’t have anticipated just how rapidly Alan’s strength was evolving.
And that worked perfectly to Alan’s advantage.
Everyone hunting him believed he was still just a harmless tier-bronze magus. That illusion of weakness emboldened them to come at him in waves.
But none of them knew—Alan had already advanced to tier-silver, with strength leagues beyond what they expected.
After catching his breath, Alan gripped the Lumen Sancta staff in his left hand. With his right, he summoned a metal-element light sword spell and, without hesitation, unleashed two swift slashes at the attacker.
The enemy’s eyes widened in alarm. He conjured a heavy water spear beneath him, trying to use it both to defend and escape under cover.
But Alan had no intention of letting him get away.
With a sharp hiss, the metal-element sword sliced cleanly through the water spear. The remaining force of the sword arc surged onward, cleaving toward the attacker like a blade of fury.
The ambusher paled. He summoned another water spear with everything he had, barely managing to block the incoming strike.
But in that moment of struggle, Alan was already upon him—Lumen Sancta in hand.
The radiant blade of the staff flared with light as it pierced the attacker’s chest, disrupting his flesh and sealing off his mana flow.
“Ugh!”
The man groaned in agony, clutching the blade with both hands. Gritting his teeth, he mustered his remaining strength and forcibly ripped the staff out of his body.
Alan’s jaw clenched as he readied another stab, but to his surprise, the attacker’s grip on the weapon was unnaturally strong. He refused to let go.
In a flash, Alan dismissed Lumen Sancta, causing the attacker to stumble forward from the sudden lack of resistance.
Then, just a heartbeat later, Lumen Sancta reappeared in Alan’s hand.
With a swift, upward slash, he drew a semicircle in the air.
A sharp, clean cut followed.
The attacker’s arm was severed entirely.
With a twisted expression of pain, he grabbed at the bleeding stump. Alan, cold-eyed, raised his staff again to deliver the final blow—to put an end to the man’s suffering.
But just then, a voice interrupted them.
“Stop! Spare his life!”
A man in a pitch-black mage robe suddenly revealed himself at Alan’s side.
He raised his hand and shouted—but he was too late.
Squelch!
The blade of Lumen Sancta pierced clean through the ambusher’s heart. Alan pulled the staff free, and a fountain of blood erupted from the wound, splattering across half of Alan’s body.
The robed man’s face darkened visibly.
He glared at Alan, voice now a growl.
“So heartless? Very well… Don’t blame me for what comes next!”
He raised his hand to strike—
But in that moment, the temperature around him rose abruptly.
The robed man paused, sensing a terrifying heat radiating from above.
He looked up—only for his expression to freeze in shock.
Countless blazing meteors were raining from the sky.
And every single one of them was locked onto him.
