Chapter 1047: 1047 They’re Ambitious

Wolfe felt the pull of a second portal opening in the same room, headed for another side of the continent, and then a third.

He didn’t stop providing mana, so the crystals would stay full as they worked to bring as many of their allies on board with the plan as possible.

The amount of magic being used, and the portals opening all over the world were making the army nervous, but so far, Kind Intentions was doing its job, and nobody was attacking.

“They had better not be preparing an attack in there.” The leader of the Fallen Army unit muttered as the portals surged with power, indicating that a flood of people was coming through them.

For those with Wolfe’s sense of mana, it was clear that nearly three hundred new people had entered the tower before the destination of the portals was changed.

Then one of the Acolytes came downstairs to speak to the Elder at the door.

“Sir, the first three all agreed, and they are here already. They must have packed in advance.” The boy whispered, but not quietly enough that Wolfe couldn’t hear him.

“Saint Noxus, Sir. The first groups are here. Is it safe to send them directly to your home?” The Elder asked.

“Of course. Let me call for someone to accompany them.” Wolfe agreed, then stuck his head through the portal back home.

“Hey, is there anyone free? I’ve got a load of new teachers that need to be escorted to the northwest tower.” Wolfe called out.

Three of the cleaning staff members came over to see what the commotion was, and Wolfe nodded in satisfaction.

“You three are perfect. I found more willing mages to come to the city, and they know how to help everyone with their new magic. Can you show them to the northwest tower? It’s still empty, right?” Wolfe repeated.

“Yes, Sir. The two western towers are both still empty. Will they be an expansion of the Academy?” The closest of the janitors, a beastkin man who looked human with his hat on, asked politely.

“Most likely, but possibly not in the city. We’re getting numerous mages, and that will be enough that we can start spreading them out to have teachers in other towns as well as an outpost of the Academy. Now, get ready for chaos because they’re all coming to you.”

Wolfe turned back to the tower, where the Elder and the Commander of the attacking soldiers were both quietly laughing.

“Alright, we’re ready to receive them now.” Wolfe informed them with as much dignity as he could muster, now that it was clear they knew that he didn’t bother to confer with anyone before taking this action.

The Elders of the three towers were the first ones out, and they all stopped at the door to greet Wolfe.

“Saint Noxus, we have heard much about you. I must say, we are intrigued by the prospect of working with your people, and we will have many requests for you once we are settled into Forest Grove.

All of which will help the situation at your end, we hope.” The first man informed him.

“We do what we can to help. But let’s not stand on ceremony, as I have so rudely interrupted a battle in progress, as I needed trained mages for an ongoing situation.” Wolfe replied.

“That is understandable. We have already contacted some of our comrades on your side through the portal to get a clearer picture of the situation, and we will be ready to help as soon as we drop off our belongings.” The second Elder agreed.

“Wonderful. It’s good to hear that you already have friends and associates working in the city. That will make the process much easier to navigate.

In that case, I will leave you in their capable hands after your arrival. The second batch will be going to a different tower, as they weren’t designed to hold so many in one spot. I apologize for any crowding, but we will get you all settled soon enough.” Wolfe informed them, then let them pass.

The third Elder just gave Wolfe a polite nod and a smile, before shooting a glare at the soldiers and leading her people out the door and through the portal.

The commander gave Wolfe a curious look. “How many people are you planning to take off world?”

Wolfe just shrugged. “As many as they send me. This batch should be about three hundred, and if the others all agree as well, then it will be another three hundred, plus the ones from this tower. It will be quite the feat to get them all settled, equivalent to moving a small town in an afternoon, but we’ve done similar things before, and we already have empty housing for them.”

The soldier smiled. “Well, now that makes all our lives a lot easier. These mages are well respected by the locals, so there is a lot that goes into trying to get them removed, even though they’ve been making a fuss and turning the people against the new government.

The new King doesn’t want to cause a long-lasting civil war, so I’m certain he will thank you for your work today.”

Wolfe laughed. “Of course he will. He’s got servants training in the Academy that they’re going to be teaching at. We’ve also sent a number of Elder Healers to the Fallen Empire’s Capital, to assist with any ailments that the people have.

They’re quite skilled, and their magic can even regrow lost limbs, so if your work earns you a boon from the King, that is something that you can reasonably ask for, should you know someone who needs the service.”

The quiet exchange didn’t take long, but the lasting implications of it would resonate through the Fallen Army. The word had gone out to the High Nobles already, but for soldiers like these, deployed to other worlds, it might have taken years before they heard about it.
