Chapter 1050: 1050 Field Trip

“I take it that these newly acquired Mages will be teaching at the Academies in Forest Grove?” King Petros asked, while the Generals stood silently, waiting to see what would happen next.

“Most of them. There are more of them than we could possibly need in the long term, but they have already expressed a desire to spread out through our allied territories and work as teachers in the villages and Fortress Cities.

There are plenty of humans and demihumans that can be taught the basics of magic, which makes the positions quite lucrative. Both in a financial and an influential sense.” Wolfe explained.

“You think that the proud residents of the towers will settle for being small-town teachers?” King Petros asked, trying not to laugh.

Wolfe tapped his temple and smiled. “Oh, I know a little secret about them. They don’t actually like large crowds, and if you surround them with adoring children who look up to them, they can’t help but want to teach them.

The kids look up to magic teachers in a hero worship sort of way because we use magic to do so many wonderful things. It’s the advantage of having multiple types of magic users in the world.

Especially with the Witch Charms available, as it means everything from the food and clothing to their housing, protective magic, and their transportation is all a result of magical knowledge.

There are countless people in this world living without any form of magic, and I know that you’re working to change that status. But in Forest Grove, that has already changed, so magic is both more commonplace, and more highly respected.

But speaking of which, how are the garden charms doing? The ones we gave out, and the one that was cast for the Countess Dewinter?”

King Petros’ angry glare turned to an amused smile.

“The young Countess has been a very busy woman as of late. Her peerage is a point of pride for the Crown, and the changes have been incredibly popular with the commoners. However, the constant stream of suitors caused her to require the services of multiple additional guards, even with the protective spells on her Manor.”

A few of the Generals laughed at the reference.

“It needed new traffic control assignments among the Guard as well, to keep them from blocking all the streets in front of her house while they argued with her staff for a visitation.” One of the advisors beside Wolfe whispered.

King Petros cleared his throat and scanned the gathered Generals in the room.

“Now that the resistance towers have departed the world, we have a change of orders. Inform the villages of the situation, in a way that does not disparage the tower residents and encourage dissent. Then, we will be able to declare this world fully integrated.” Petros announced.

Wolfe gave a dramatic sigh. “I guess that’s the end of my pilfering of Mages. But I believe that congratulations are in order, Your Highness. Give me a moment, and I will procure some suitable gifts for the event.”

Petros smiled, and Wolfe opened a portal home, using the open portal to the trial grounds to save mana.

There was a huge stockpile of Dwarven Ale and assorted local wines and liquors in the warehouse, so he simply grabbed a barrel of ale and a case of their new Pear Wine, made with a Rank Three magical fruit.

“I believe that you are familiar with our locally brewed Ale, but the other gift should be a new one for you. This is Forest Grove Pear Wine, brewed using magical fruits. The effects are both inebriating and refreshing, as the fruits used cause a healing effect.” Wolfe explained.

King Petros looked confused. “So, it is a healing potion in the form of wine?”

“Well, I suppose it could be called an acceptable healing potion, but that is only a side effect. It really is quite tasty. There are a dozen bottles in the case, enough to share if you wish. I can also get more Ale if we start running low.”

The Royal Guards next to King Petros did their best not to smile as the retainers presented the gifts to the King.

Wolfe always showed up with something strange and unexpected like it was nothing.

They paid exorbitant amounts for healing potions here, even now that they had Witches in the Royal Palace. But Forest Grove made wine with healing abilities, so you could get drunk while you recovered from your injuries.

It was brilliant, and completely unnecessary.

“Did you have plans for the evening?” General Warma asked, knowing that Wolfe actually had a lot to do, with chaos in his city, and hundreds of newly arrived mages that needed to be settled into new homes.

“I believe that the others can take care of it on my behalf. Other than paperwork, a large part of my job is just keeping our allies happy. So, after borrowing a number of mages from the world you were conquering, it is important to make amends.” Wolfe whispered back.

The General chuckled. “Well, I suppose that is true as well. International relations are an important part of a leadership position, especially at your power level. I just don’t want an angry witch coming after me for stealing you when you were needed elsewhere.”

Wolfe knew better. They would come after him for disappearing when he was needed. But one evening away shouldn’t be a big deal, especially when he was going to be incredibly busy as soon as he returned.

The parties for the Saints wouldn’t end for weeks, and they would all be expected to make constant public appearances. With the new Saints being the stars of the event, he might not be missed by the majority of the population, but the Pentacles would expect him to be there until the festivities ended.

And then, once he had spare time again, it was time to go to the sunken continent, and start looking for the remnants of the Noxus Family legacy that might have survived the ravages of time and the ocean depths. That was going to take weeks at the very least, and he would probably have to do it alone, as everyone else would be needed in Forest Grove and the surrounding areas.
