Isekai Journey Of The Magic Archer
Chapter 1225 - 1225: Surprise of the teacher[OP: ]
There are three things that those who could manipulate Arcanum have to learn before they could go into arcane energy arts: How to feel, how to channel, and then how to utilize.
“Everyone’s perception of Arcanum is different. Those who are sensitive to arcanum could perceive it even within the atmosphere while those who aren’t as proficient might not even be able to perceive what’s inside of them.”
Anna’s teacher showed her something she had not been paying attention to all this time: the energies within the atmosphere as well as inside of herself, the difference between them, and the way they felt.
“Do you feel it?” He asked while showing her a small string of silver Arcanum, the one that was his own, a string of purple arcanum, the one that he materialised from the atmosphere, and lastly a golden thread of Arcanum, the one that he materialised from his Arcane beasts.
“Yes teacher… I can feel it.” Anna sat there, her eyes closed, Pappy sitting beside her with their eyes closed as well, and both focused on the three different strings of Arcanum, as well as a golden string that was even brighter than the one that her teacher had produced, one that she had produced while imitating what he was doing.
It was similar to what Eon had taught her in the tower, however the way he was doing it seemed more right to her compared to what her big brother had taught her in the tower.
‘As big brother said, the right teacher will always be better for things that they are better at.’
She could feel the difference between these three kinds of Arcanum energies.
“The purple one is rough, as if a rough rope, a rough surface that could hurt you if you hold onto it for long.
The silver one of yours is far smoother in comparison. And, there’s something more to it…”
She tried to focus more, deeper, to figure out something she knew she knew about.
“What is it? Don’t try to be too specific. Just tell me the things that come to your mind. Even words…”
The teacher maintained all the strings and guided her through the process. She was on the right path– and she was unbelievably good at it already.
“It’s… I think yours is smoother as well as warmer. I can feel calmness from it, a little sadness, at the core of it… I guess, I guess it’s the feeling you feel when you receive a surprise gift? I don’t know how to say it, but that’s how your Arcanum feels.”
She tried her best to put it into words, and the things she said certainly surprised the old teacher once again.
‘I thought I had seen the limits of this field,’ with a bitter smile on his face, he shook his head. ‘How wrong I’ve been.’
To feel the core expression of an energy or the emotions with which it was refined, not even masters like himself could ever achieve something so unreal.
‘Perhaps it’s because of her blessed talents, or perhaps it’s just a gift as well.’
He thought about attributing her special sensitivity to these hidden details of one’s energy to her special eyes, but those gifts weren’t the reason behind everything one achieves.
She might have been born with the powers to feel these emotions, but she achieved the level of understanding of emotions, this level of utility thanks to the training that she might have done.
Perhaps the environment that she had been in and the exposure that she had received within this household was also the reason, but the cumulative of it all was what had resulted in her current self.
‘She’s a miracle.’
To attach emotive expressions to an energy was something comparable to giving name to an abstract phenomenon. And she was doing exactly that.
“The golden one is even smoother. It’s also warmer. I feel calm as I hold it, and it’s clean too. The string… is also friendly.”
When she held the string of energy that belonged to his arcane beasts, the energy wrapped itself around herself as if it was alive.
It was a simple string of energy, no conscious entity, yet with her, it acted like a child that wanted to be held by her.
It was a kind of sight that he had actually witnessed in the past.
‘The great high elder of elves, the Great grandmaster of the dwarves, Witch of Dawn, and Sword saint… and here I am, teaching someone like Those individuals.’
On this planet, they were no less than godly entities. People who weren’t comparable to anyone.
The headmaster was one such entity, but Anna was simply a child.
She had not lived for centuries, she had not killed godly entities or great demons, she was young. She was a child that had not even seen much of the world… Perhaps, that was more of the reason this scene looked special to him.
“Compared to the three of these, my Arcanum string seems pale and hollow.” Her words spoken with genuineness stunned the elder before her.
“It’s smooth, but it doesn’t have the toughness that the purple one does. It’s bright and pure, but it doesn’t have any special thing attached to it.
It doesn’t have any special emotions, it doesn’t tell any special story, and it doesn’t have the inherent experience like all the other strings do.”
Acknowledgement of one’s lack of anything was something that one would not see in geniuses such as herself, yet as she spoke those words, she humbled herself more than her teacher could do himself.
She did not look down on her powers, she acknowledged that the Arcanum that she possessed was much purer, but since she was never formally trained, or had any experience in combat or spell creation.
“This is the rawest form of your energy, young lady.” The teacher explained, his voice filled with warmth and passion.
“The energy that one possesses changes with experience and the kind of life that they live. It doesn’t stay the same throughout one’s life, at least, its elements change.”
The teacher brought out all of his arcanum beasts’ Arcanum strings and showed it to Anna.
“Mana is something that grows with a person, Aura is a power that grows as a person experiences more things. When you become closer to nature, your spirit Mana increases.
While the inherent nature of none of these energies changes, with the perpetual change of a person, the energy that they possess also experiences various subtle changes.”
Since Anna could feel all of the emotions and expressions of Arcanum, she could instantly tell how the energy strings of all of her teacher’s arcanum beasts were different.
The youngest one had a string similar to her own, bright, pure, hollow, while the oldest one of them, the giant snake uncle as Anna called them, possessed a much rougher string of Arcanum.
“The roughness is not the same as the roughness of environmental energy. While it’s rough, the roughness comes from experiences and not refinement.” She said confidently, a surprised expression present on her face.
“Wow…”
As she divided deeper into these strings and unconsciously started analyzing the patterns of these energy strings, her teacher broke her concentration and brought her back.
“Hmm…?”
“That is an activity for a different thing, young lady.” He had not even taught her anything about Channeling and she was already diving into Arcanum utilization.
Her talents truly scared him even more at that moment.
But then again, this was a kind of challenge that reignited the spirit that he seemed to have lost a while ago.
“Step by step, alright? We will go step by step. You will have more fun that way.” He knew he could skip all the basics and jump right into the actual arcane energy arts.
The foundation that she had, the foundation that she says was built with the help of her big brother, was nothing short of what the best of his students had when he started teaching them the arts.
He had grinded the basics and foundations inside them, but she already had those foundations, and according to her, they weren’t enough to satisfy her big brother yet.
‘She’s still working on her foundations, so I know she will understand me.’
Her monstrous talents will make it difficult for her to follow him through these smaller steps, he knew just like right now, she will unconsciously jump into more advanced and complex things on her own, but he needed to hold her back this time.
“Alright teacher~. And apologies if I did anything wrong!” She knew she was learning something new, something that will take her where she wanted to be.
She knew the importance of foundations and basics thanks to all her siblings. She knew how much importance her big brother, grandpa, and even her aunts that taught her etiquette placed on the basics.
There was no castle without a solid foundation, and there was no sky without a ground under it.
“Alright then. How about we take a little break? Do you like tea, young lady?”
She knew her teacher wanted only her wellbeing. She could tell he was asking her to follow his instructions for a reason.
He was the teacher, and she was the student.
“Yessss~! I love tea, teacher~!”
She just had to follow his instructions, learn from him, and do her best with her own practice.
These arcane energy classes were something she would only have every other day so she needed to learn as much as she could while she still had this amazing teacher with her.
She knew their time together wasn’t too long.
They did not tell her that, but she just knew it. So, she will do her best.
‘Big brother will be back soon as well, hehe.’
By the time he comes back, she wanted to learn at least a trick or two to show off.
She wanted to impress her big brother.
And her big brother knew she would work diligently for that…
