'We've already come to this point, huh? I knew this would happen eventually, but I didn't expect it to happen so soon,' Nick thought.

"I don't see how there can be a more beneficial partnership than with Aegis for me," Nick answered.

The Champion just evenly looked at Nick.

Naturally, he had expected such an answer.

Hadn't he thought something very similar in the past?

The next moment, the light inside the Champion's hall became brighter and gathered above his throne.

The Champion stood up and walked down from his throne.

Then, he stopped at the spot that the Right Arm always took.

To the right of the throne.

However, except for the shape, there was nothing else that resembled a human.

It was just a silhouette of pure white light.

The figure of light landed in front of the throne, and Nick could see it looking at him.

However, his ability told him that there was no perception coming from the light.

The voice was warm and gentle.

"I am the Sun."

'As expected,' Nick thought.

Nick didn't answer for a couple of seconds.

"I didn't think that you were conscious," he said.

Of course, Nick knew that it wasn't truly conscious, but this was something that was expected of him to say.

'I'm most likely talking to some form of administrator from the aliens.'

"I am the protector of this world," the Sun spoke with some amusement. "How could I protect humanity without knowing what I'm doing?"

"I can see that now," Nick answered. "Seems like I was too hasty with my judgment."

"Julian," the Sun spoke. "I have watched your progress, and I am pleased with what I have seen."

'What an obvious lie. You looked at me exactly three times in your life. Once, when the new Champion came to power. Once,when I came out of the Containment Unit. And this is your third time.'

'If you've actually watched me, you would've killed me already.'

"That is to be expected," Nick answered. "The Sun is ever-present."

"As a Specter, you managed to accomplish something that is deemed as almost impossible," the Sun spoke. "You managed to gain Aegis' support."

"You managed to convince the Left Arm and the Technician to accept you as their ally, and thanks to their words, you managed to officially join Aegis."

"The most ardent supporters of humanity accepted you, a Specter, into their ranks. While the False Prophet also works with Aegis, its status can't compare to you."

"That is something worthy of admiration, and it is a valuable position to be in."

Nick nodded. "I presume you are interested in making use of that position."

"I am," the Sun spoke. "Humanity is in a constant battle against destruction, and the Specters are not the enemy."

"Who is that enemy?" Nick asked, stopping himself from saying 'enlighten me'.

"Beings from across the stars," the Sun spoke.

"Aliens?" Nick asked with a raised brow.

'We're going with that angle, huh?' Nick thought.

"You might call them as such," the Sun said.

"Almost 50,000 years ago, the people that you call the Ancient Ones traveled across the stars, colonizing many different planets."

'The years are probably accurate,' Nick thought. 'That means the era of the Recovering Ones took around 20,000 years, and the era of the Enlightened Ones only lasted for something like 3,000 to 5,000 years. The era of the Suffering Ones was a long one again, which probably was around 15,000 years. And our era has existed for about 5,000 years. I don't know how long the Ancient Ones existed, but it was probably 5,000 to 10,000 years.'

"During their quest to colonize the galaxy," the Sun continued, "the Ancient Ones came upon an advanced alien race."

"The Ancient Ones fought the alien race for a long time, but in the end,the alien race triumphed due to a combination of technology and personal power."

"While the Ancient Ones had technology with an unrivaled destructive power, they were vulnerable to many small and quick attacks."

"Powerful warriors from the alien race attacked many planets, and the unfathomably powerful weaponry of the Ancient Ones could only deal with so many of them."

"Each strike of their weapons was followed by a long preparatory phase of readying the weapons again, and each strike could only deal with one of the warriors each."

"Over the many years of the war, the Ancient Ones were pushed back to Earth."

"In desperation, they could only resort to one final move."

"They created me, the Sun."

"I was created as a shield for humanity from the alien race."

"The Ancient Ones hoped that humanity would recover and adapt with time."

"They hoped that, eventually, humanity would be able to develop their own warriors."

"As long as humanity had its own warriors, it wouldn't be helpless against its enemies anymore."

The Sun sighed.

"However, this required the most valuable commodity in the universe."

"Time."

"The alien race would not just sit by and watch as their enemy grows more powerful each year."

"They launch constant attacks at me."

"My energy storages emptied quicker than expected, and in order to save humanity, I needed a new source of energy."

"The Specters and Zephyx," Nick interjected.

"Correct," the Sun said. "I needed Zephyx. A lot of it. Without Zephyx, I will be destroyed, and humanity will be eradicated."

"Humanity needs powerful warriors but also a significant achievement in technology to fight the alien race."

"I have been trying to find that equilibrium for almost 50,000 years."

"The ones you call the Recovering Ones only focused on technology."

"The ones you call the Suffering Ones only focused on Zephyx."

The Sun sighed again.

"The most regrettable ones were the Enlightened Ones. They were the perfect mix,but they became impatient and tried to destroy me before they were ready."

"They didn't master Star Energy and Pure Energy yet, and if they succeeded, everyone on Earth would have died."

"I had to stop them."

Nick nodded. "I understand."
