Cyneah, sensing the imminent formation of a Dimension, was the first to spring into action. Realizing the gravity of the situation, she swiftly identified the enemy mage responsible, determined to deal with the threat before it could fully materialize.
Rather than warning everyone about it, however, Cyneah decided to inform Kyran only and communicated with him through telepathy. She did this not because she had little faith in Ladon and Thorn but because she believed that letting Kyran deal with the enemy mage would be faster. Besides, the enemy mages had their attention focused on Ladon and Thorn. Just a change in their movements would alert them.
Amidst Diara's rambling, Kyran heard Cyneah's warning. Ignoring Diara and letting Auto-one deal with her, Kyran listened to Cyneah and followed her instructions as she pointed him toward the enemy mage, summoning the Dimension.
Kyran could have found the enemy mage without much trouble. Unfortunately, the large amount of magic energy in the tower made it hard for him to maintain his magic sense. To be more accurate, the magic energies in the surroundings gathered around him in great quantity, and he had to control the amount he absorbed to cast or summon magic.
If he so much as expanded his magic sense for another meter or two, the magic energies around him get excited and seem eager to be absorbed by him.
It was somewhat embarrassing to explain his situation to Cyneah; thus, he simply let her tell him where to go.
As Cyneah told Kyran where to go, Shaiha enhanced his concealment to ensure the enemy mages would not notice their approach.
In the end, Kyran caught the enemy mage and found the core of the Dimension she was creating, destroying it using his Void magic.
The veil that Diara saw was pure Void magic energy. Kyran let his magic energy flow into the core of the enemy mage's Dimension, destroying it in the process.
Because the veil was pure Void magic energy, it had a deep purple color, which Diara found familiar.
"I did tell you not to underestimate my master," Auto-one said after seeing Diara's disbelief.
Diara looked at him. This time, her expression was not ridicule but a mixture of confusion, hope, and fear.
Auto-one did not look at Diara, but because of his initial program, he could sense her mixed emotions. He said, "As you have said, I am one of the Ancients' champion automatons. I would not submit to just anyone."
Auto-one's words were all Diara needed to confirm her doubts. She looked toward the crumbling Dimension where the dark purple veil could be seen and muttered a smile on her lips, "So their research has truly bore fruit... finally... the real Realm Scion has been born..."
The moment the Dimension started to crumble, the other enemy mages were alerted and about to divert their focus to the one that had disrupted it. However, like Diara, when they realized the color of the veil that destroyed the Dimension, they stopped in their tracks.
"That color..."
Meanwhile, the female enemy mage who summoned the Dimension looked at Kyran with mixed emotions.
Kyran, too, was looking at her with a slight frown. This was because the woman before her possessed the same body constitution as Diara.
"You're.... also an Ancient."
"... Realm Scion!"
The woman was not the only one who said those words. The other three, as well, and their voices echoed throughout the room.
As soon as they said this, the damaged magic arrays that had yet to be destroyed disappeared as they flew toward Kyran's location.
Kyran's brow twitched as he realized what had just happened and was about to happen, his head already suffering from a severe headache.
Ladon and Thorn had strange looks on their faces as they saw the sudden change in attitude of the mages that ambushed them. Soon after, their faces darkened when they realized the latter few had the same body constitution as Diara.
"More Ancients..." Ladon muttered in amazement. Meeting Diara confirmed the Dragon Emperor's theory about a few Ancients surviving inside the tower, but seeing more of them after just meeting one was a lot for him to digest.
Thorn felt the same as he gaped at the three mages who flew past them. Before he could make sense of what was happening, he caught sight of Kyran and saw one of the Ancients falling on her knees before him.
Only then did the Ancients' words before their sudden change sink in.
"Did they just call that arrogant nobody...the... no way, right?" Thorn wondered out loud.
Ladon, who also saw this, felt his worldview crumbling before his eyes. Unlike Thorn, who seemed to be in denial about what he had just heard, Ladon understood it very well.
Realm Scion was a title that they only read in legends. It was a title given to someone who would inherit The Realm.
Aki, who had landed safely after jumping around and avoiding the magic arrays, put Cyneah down upon her request. Both of them were looking toward where the Ancients gathered around Kyran.
"... Trying to lie out of this will be a little tricky," Aki could not help but sigh at the sudden turn of events. They would have dealt with the situation differently if they had known that the approaching mages were Ancients.
That was not entirely correct. They should have realized that the approaching mages differed when Cyneah was the only one who noticed them. The only other group they encountered was the Solis Clan representatives, and they had already subdued one of them. Since the tower's rule only allowed three members per group to enter, they should have found the number of approaching enemies suspicious.
Then again, almost all of them subconsciously considered that the incoming enemies might be automatons and did not consider the possibility that they were Ancients.
Cyneah, on the other hand, remained silent as she observed the situation. Since she could only see the lights gathering around Kyran and not see them kneeling before him, she did not have any particular thoughts. If anything, she was only curious about what they said before going after Kyran.
'Realm Scion...?'
"Can you not kneel? I am not the Realm Scion," Kyran told the Ancients exasperatedly.
"Yes, you are," one of the male Ancient insisted as he gestured toward the still-crumbling Dimension. "Only the Realm Scion could produce a magic energy in that color!"
Kyran frowned and started to say, "That is the color of my..."
His voice trailed off before he could say, 'Void magic.'
"Your magic, yes. Why did we not notice it sooner? We cannot sense your presence because you possess Shaiha! Apart from the Void core, have you gathered the other Ancient Magic Cores— Guah!" fɾeewebnoveℓ.co๓
Crackle! Krssshk!
Kyran struck the male Ancient. Unfortunately, his strike came too late, and what the latter said already reached Ladon and Thorn. Moreover, his trying to silence the Ancient had more or less confirmed that everything the latter said was true.
"What...?"
Ladon and Thorn were both dumbfounded at what they just heard.
Cyneah raised her brows in surprise after Kyran struck one of the lights. She heard what the male Ancient had said and understood why Kyran had done what he did. With a sigh, she spoke to Kyran through telepathy.
'I think it's time we come clean with them. They are from the Dragon Clan, anyway. They don't know much about the circumstances that led to us coming to the Higher Realm, but they knew we were searching for you... or, at least, someone very important.'
Kyran remained silent while watching the male Ancient twitching on the floor. The other three were similarly shocked at what happened but did not say or do anything. They continued to kneel on the floor, albeit their whole body was now shaking in fear.
After all, with their special constitution, it would have been near impossible for any mage to inflict damage on them, yet Kyran did just that to one of them. He did not kill him, but the strike was strong enough to stun and paralyze them.
After a short pause, Kyran finally asked Cyneah, 'Do you trust them?'
'They can be trusted.'
Kyran sighed upon hearing Cyneah's response and said, 'Fine.'
'You don't sound... convinced.'
'It's not that,' Kyran replied. 'I just hate their guts.'
'Why? They are your kin.'
'They're not. They're Ames's kin.'
'But Ames is your grandmother—.'
'They are not from the Regis Clan.'
'...'
'... besides, I don't like how they look at you.'
Cyneah's eyes widened as her cheeks turned red. Fortunately, the room they were in was dimly lit; otherwise, the others would see her expression.
'T-They are not... l-looking at me i-in any s-special way.'
Kyran could not help but smile the moment Cyneah started to stutter. It might sound a little mean, but he found her stuttering when embarrassed or flustered cute.
While they talked, Kyran made his way back to them with the four Ancients in tow. Since the male Ancient Kyran struck was still twitching, the other two male Ancients supported him.
Auto-one and Diara also approached them, with the latter looking at Kyran with undisguised shame.
Ladon and Thorn looked at Kyran with furrowed brows. Meanwhile, Kyran retained his emotionless expression.
Finally, Ladon broke the silence, asking, "Who are you, really? Why did they call you the Realm Scion."
Kyran tilted his head and replied, "I refuse to comment on that last one. As for who I am..." He looked at Cyneah and said, "I am the one Neah and the rest are looking for. And... I am her man. I'd appreciate it if you two stopped getting familiar with her."
