Cutting the woman's head did not guarantee she would not revive again. But Kyran did it anyway to ensure her soul would not have a complete dummy body she could use. Besides, he felt that Layla's spell was connected to the dummy. He guessed as much because when she revived, the dummy body reattached its severed head and even healed prior injuries. He also guessed that as long as the dummy did not sustain irreparable damage, the soul connected to it would continue reviving.
Kyran could have destroyed the woman once and for all using the Void Sphere. But if he did that, he would miss a good opportunity to check how Layla's spell worked.
Moreover, Layla was aware of Kyran's magic. Since she had used the dummies, knowing that he might appear, she likely had prepared a countermeasure against his magic.
Kyran wanted to know what it was. The dummy body was not made of any special material, and there was no visible array or seal on the outside, so that only leaves the inside.
In any case, now that he had cut its head with Void magic, its ability to reattach that part of its body had been destroyed. Once Layla's spell activated and revived the soul, it would only end up in a useless dummy.
Another thing Kyran wanted to confirm was if the dummy body were Layla's answer to the undying bodies her precious souls would use. Because, as far as he was concerned, the dummy bodies were more flexible just like real human bodies.
However, the materials used in creating them were probably more expensive than creating puppets. Not to mention, puppets had sturdier bodies compared to these dummies.
If the dummy bodies could be destroyed easily, what was the point of mass-producing them?
At the very least, Kyran believed Layla had to consider what kind of body she wanted her precious souls would use.
After all, there was no such thing as infinite revival.
At least, Kyran was positive that part of the soul was destroyed each time it was revived. So, if the dummies died a few more times, the soul attached to it would have been reduced to the point it would be destroyed completely. Then the dummies would all be useless.
Even if the dummy body remained intact after its soul was destroyed, Kyran did not think a new soul could easily be attached to it.
Kyran's knowledge of Soul magic might be limited, but it was better than the others— apart from the Soul Emperor and her subjects, that is. Thus, he knew at least that a soul had to be compatible with the vessel to use it properly. And so far, only puppets, which were created from different rare materials that were rich with magic energies, could fulfil this requirement.
In order to find out whether Layla prepared any countermeasure against his magic, Kyran decided to observe the magic fluctuation on the woman's dummy body after he cut off her head.
pαпdα Йᴏνê1,сòМ So far, apart from it reviving approximately five seconds, he sensed a strange fluctuation from inside its body.
Since Kyran did not find anything useful after the woman revived, he cut her again. This time, after cutting the woman, he sent his magic sense into the woman's dummy body.
The moment his magic sense entered the dummy, he immediately sensed a subtle yet concentrated Soul magic energy from the inside.
To be precise, the magic energy was located at the center of the dummy's lower abdomen.
From there, Kyran let his magic sense scan that area and discovered a very strange array.
He found the array strange, not because he could not read it. As a matter of fact, he could. The strange one was that it did not seem part of the dummy.
As if the array was located at another location.
Space magic?
No.
It was not Space magic.
Kyran found this feeling somewhat familiar.
And it was then he was reminded of why it seemed that way.
'It's him,' he thought as the image of Gael flashed through his mind.
Gael's Shadow magic had the ability to 'take' and even 'transport' things and even people as long as there were shadows around.
Kyran had not yet learned much about Shadow magic and could not grasp its concept. But he had an inkling that one of the properties of Shadow magic was similar to the Void.
Nevertheless, as much as he wanted to understand everything now, the current situation would not allow him to feed his curiosity.
'It seems her countermeasure was that guy's magic. Since I can't directly destroy Shadow magic because of its property, I can't destroy the array inside the dummy. Even if I did, the soul attached to it would not be destroyed.'
Kyran then paused as he thought of something.
'Or is it?'
Thinking of this, Kyran no longer hesitated. Before the woman could revive, he summoned a purple disc that was big enough to cover her dummy body. He manipulated the disc and let it pass through, completely destroying the dummy's body.
Once the dummy body was destroyed, the array formation above crackled. After that, the whole formation shook frantically.
All the Array Specialists who witnessed the woman's fate finally felt true fear.
Earlier, they were frightened about Kyran's decisive attack when killing them. But because they knew they would revive, thanks to her Highness's spell, they still felt at ease.
But now, seeing that the woman did not even have the chance to understand what had happened and was destroyed completely, they were now frightened completely.
Sizzle! Crackle! Sizzle! Crackle!
Crackling and sizzling sounds reverberated as purple discs materialized behind the Array Specialists. Before any of them could even react, the discs slid through their body, completely destroying them.
The Grand Masters who witnessed this were reeling in fear.
They initially thought they could protect them from Kyran as long as they could stop him from getting close to them.
They did not expect Kyran to launch simultaneous attacks on all Array Specialists.
With the Array Specialists removed from the equation, the array formation surrounding the main tower continued to crack, and soon, it could no longer sustain the formation. Such a result was to be expected after the Array Specialists maintaining it were killed.
These Array Specialists were not Kyran, after all.
Kyran could simply activate the array formation and no longer had to maintain it once it was fully activated. He could even do it in a short span of time. In comparison, the Army's Array Specialists would still need to maintain and stabilize the array formation before they could fully use it.
Avrum, Emery, Vaness, and the rest of the Conclave and Army members heaved a sigh of relief upon seeing Kyran stopping the array formation's complete activation.
The Grand Masters around them were also stunned. But they recovered almost at once and without waiting for anyone to order them, they took out teleportation scrolls or token and crushed it.
Those who used the teleportation scrolls would be transported back to the Boyd Family's Villa, while those with tokens could only wish to escape as far as possible.
Of course, if they wanted to escape, they would need to use more teleportation tokens.
Without looking at these people, Kyran's magic sense immediately reacted.
To think these Grand Masters was foolish enough to use such magic items that was clearly designed to mimic the Void magic's warp ability.
In an instant, the moment these Grand Masters used the teleportation scrolls and tokens, a purple light flashed from their items and enveloped their bodies.
"W-What is this?"
"N-No! M-My hand is!"
"AAAARGH! NO! STOP!"
Soon, agonizing cries could be heard as the Grand Masters were killed one after another.
Avrum, Emery, Vaness, and the others felt their bodies turn cold from the cries of death that surrounded them. From where they were standing, they could clearly see how these mages were engulfed by a purple color flames.
Obviously, it was not flames but Void magic. But at the moment that was how they saw Kyran's attack. They were then reminded of what was said to be the most terrible and powerful flames.
The purple color flames looked to them like the legendary Flames of Hell.
On the other hand, Kyran remained indifferent to the cries that filled the air and warped directly in front of the main tower.
Avrum, Emery and Vaness snapped out of their reverie and went to greet him at once.
Aki and Len also stepped forward and bowed at Kyran respectfully.
"Master."
Kyran waved his hand, and both of their programs were adjusted in an instant.
"Check the others at once. Heal the wounded."
"Yes, master," the two replied and moved at once.
Avrum, Emery and Vaness looked at him, unsure what to say.
However, Kyran did not wait for them to say anything and only said, "Rest for now. I have completely covered the area with my magic sense. We're safe for now."
