"If the same power is behind all of this, including the fall of christian religion as a whole. This whole thing could be something much larger than just ourselves..." but Bel's answer was enough to make him burst into cold sweat. After all, Belzebulb was one of the 7 generals that represented the capital sins, one of the 9 most powerful demons of them all. After all, just what kind of thing could be involved in all of this.
Noah was nervous, but... he was more worried than anything. He'd achieved a lot of what he had looked forward to, he had gotten the money, he had made Maggie better. 'I almost feel like this would be a good time to just... yeah...' an unsettling though gre in his mind, before Noah shoot it away, realizing there was no way he could do that.
"Well, I don't think we can really do much more now, other than just guess. Let's end this here for now," Noah said, sprawling himself on the sofa while trying to get some kind of plan for his life. Then, he remembered he hadn't asked about the status going missing. "Oh, Bel, by any chance, do you know about the system or what could've happened to make me unable to read her status?" He lowered his gaze, seeing Bel already standing up.
"Sorry, I don't... But my guess is that, since she recovered some of her powers, you are just too weak to read her status? But like, I have never heard of this type of system before, so I couldn't know." Bel shrugged, "Good night. You guys should rest."
Noah nodded, watching him leave, while looking blankly at the ceiling. "Wow... this such a mess. What do you thing about it, Lilith?" Noah asked, but got no response.
"Lilith?" he turned his head to the side, watching the snake. She was still coiled around, but her head was now resting on her body, lacking all her usual energy. "Are you okay?" he asked, noticing his companion was down bad.
"Not really," she answered, lacking her usual power. "Whenever Bel talks about me, I feel I had become someone completely different than the person he says I am." She sighed, raising her head a little. "Why didn't you tell me those things when I asked you if anything had happened?"
Noah's eyes met hers, and he was reminded of the day they met back in that store. "You know... When we met for the first time, I felt a connection to you. Just like me, you were weak, wounded, yet you still wouldn't let them touch you carelessly," Noah started putting his hand on top of the snake's head. "I guess I wanted to protect you, or something. Not sure why I though not telling you was the best option, but I didn't want you get worry needlessly."
"Noah..." Lilith shrunk, rolling her haead around Noah's hand before coiling up his arms, her size returning to the small snake she usually was. "I was scared, I was, but I am your companion. I know I'm weak, I should be a lot stronger than I am, and our enemies are something so powerful both of us can't even imagine because I don't remember anything... But trust me, I'll always try my best to help."
"Sorry... I should've thought about your feelings as well. I'll tell you everything next time something happens." Noah stroked Lilith's head, as she coiled around his neck. "We should go up to sleep now, my mind is a bit hazy because of all that happened," he said, standing up while carrying her in his arms.
"I really appreciate you caring for me like you do," Lilith told him, taking a deep breath before sighing in relief.
Silence took the place over, as Noah made his way to his room, thinking about the fights and all that was going on. As he was about to reach the bed, Noah stopped, "Lilith, thank you for saving me earlier today. I would've died in those battles oif it werent for you," he said, gently laying her on the bed before changing his clothes.
"Don't look at me like that!" he said, noticing the snake's gaze, watching intently he and he became undressed for a second. Lilith didn't say anything, but diverted her eyes from him as soon as he looked towards his direction. After less than a minute, Noah was already in his sleeping wear, and laid down. "Today was the most intense day even," he said, looking towards the ceiling.
"Yeah... And there's still a lot for do for you to say you finished everything, right? At the very least, you still need to claim the winnings and go to the bank for that token," Lilith said, coiling around his arm as usual.
"Yup. I hope tomorrow will be less absurd. Let's remember not to do anything this absurd for the time being. I'll probably take a break of at least a few days..." he answered her, feeling his eyes get heavier. "Good night, Lilith," he closed them, instantly falling asleep.
Noah opened his eyes, to the white clean ceiling of Carlos's home. 'I should use part of that money to buy me and Maggie a fancy home," he thought, but quickly ditched that. "No, we already have our home. I could renew it, but buying somewhere else or building would be wasteful," he told himself aloud, waking up completely.
'Why can't I move?' he asked himself, as he realized he had become paralyzed by an incredible force. His entire body was pinned in place. Noah tried to move his head, only to notice he couldn't turn it, something large and heavy blocking his movements. He tried to raise his head, feeling something touching his forehead. It was cool, but had a particular feeling he knew very well, "This damn snake... Lilith! Wake up! I can't move!" he raised his voice, waking Lilith up, and feeling the strange sensation of a massive snake slithering over his entire body. "How the fuck did you get this massive?" he asked.
"Huh? What are you... Noah? Where the heck are you?" He heard her call for him, her voice sounding a little distant.
"You are literally on top of me! My head is here, to the other side," he said, and quickly enough, a snake's head about the size of his obstructed his view. "Look down!" he called her out, making Lilith look down to see him.
"How did you get so... Oh no!" she panicked, becoming smaller at a fast pace. The incredible and very smooth pressure across his body became more concentrated, as her width diminished at a fast pace, and not after long, some of it started disappearing, as she also became shorter. "... Noah, I have bad news..." she said, making Noah furrow his brows as he raised his upper body from the bed, rubbing his eyes.
"Sure, what is it?"
"I can't get any smaller than this," Lilith sounded troubled, but it took him a second to open his eyes, and take in what she was talking about.
Lilith right now wasn't anywhere near as massive as she was a second ago, though he had no idea how large that was, since all he saw was her head, but he could assure she had been over 20ft long, from how her body was pinning him evenly. She was now the size of a small python. Large enough she could not be carried by him unless he put her over both his arms and around his neck.
"Now, that could be slightly problematic..." Noah muttered, realizing she could no longer hide on his chest like a pendant, or his arm like usual. "We'll figure it out as the day passes. But... how did you become that large?" he asked, curious.
"I have no idea, I was sleeping and had this dream and then—Oh... I think I did it in my sleep because of dreaming of something," she said, averting her gaze.
"What the heck were you dreaming about?" Noah asked, walking out of bed to grab a change of clothes and check his phone.
"You shouldn't ask ladies this kind of thing..." Lilith muttered, getting herself coiled up on the edge of the bed.
"Why can't you tell though, am I in it, by any chance?" Noah teased her and laughed internally at her flustered reaction. Even though she was a snake, Noah could feel she had become a lot more human-like lately. He checked his phone while smiling, his smile vanishing and his eyes widening as he saw the time. "Lilith, we gotta go, fast,"
"Huh? What happened?" Lilith confusedly slid off the bed, going towards him as Noah changes his clothes into a casual yet careful attire.
"We need to meet Marcel at 9 at the Family's main building," he said, hurriedly closing the buttons of his shirt and combing his hair behind with a bit of wax. "It's 8:30 already!"
"How can you be this energic after only sleeping five hours? Christ, what did I get myself into," Lilith muttered, watching his ready himself with a strange yet warm feeling of nostalgia. 'Why do I feel I have seen this before?' she thought to herself, as slowly, the memories of her everyday life in hell started to return.
"Let's go, we need to grab at least some food on the way out," Noah said, walking out of the room ready to leave, after getting ready in record time.
And lilith followed him, slithering her way through the house, to the awe of Carlos' family's maids and employees.
