Chapter 4700: Teaching
The one who died was his disciple, while they preferred to avoid unnecessary entanglements, as the sect’s master, failing to address this incident would severely undermine his authority in the future. Moreover, the disciples within their sect predominantly hailed from influential families. He was obligated to provide a satisfactory explanation to the bereaved family.
Meanwhile, the Azure Emperor returned to the tranquil seclusion of Yunxiao Mountain, paying little mind to the three children who trailed behind him. He retreated directly into the depths of his cave abode, his thoughts unreadable.
The three children, on their part, busied themselves organizing the newly acquired items for their small kitchen, diligently drawing more protective talismans, and crafting additional helpful puppets to ease their daily chores. They remained blissfully unaware that their brief foray into the city had inadvertently led to their master eliminating a disciple from a prominent sect, and that members of that very sect were now actively searching for them.
Unfortunately for the Heaven’s Sun Sect, this was the first time the three children had ventured into the city, and they had subtly employed illusion magic to obscure their appearances. This made any form of investigation exceedingly difficult, leaving the sect with few leads to pursue.
The days on Yunxiao Mountain settled into a peaceful rhythm. The three children continued their studies under the tutelage of the Azure Emperor, who wisely tailored his lessons to each child’s individual aptitudes and strengths. He did not impose a uniform curriculum, nor did he teach them identical sword techniques.
Instead, he carefully selected a distinct sword art for each of them, providing personalized guidance in their cultivation and encouraging them to practice and spar using their unique skills.
While Hao’er and Muchen displayed a natural inclination and enthusiasm for swordplay, Yue’er, perhaps influenced by her mother’s deep knowledge, showed a marked preference for the study of medicine. With characteristic diligence, she even took to planting medicinal herbs herself after the puppets had prepared the soil, immersing herself in ancient texts and eagerly seeking clarification from her master whenever she encountered something she didn’t understand.
Observing that Yue’er’s swordsmanship lagged behind her brothers’ and noting her genuine passion for cultivating medicinal herbs, the Azure Emperor one day sought her out in the burgeoning medicinal herb field. He watched silently as the small figure diligently worked under the warm afternoon sun.
Despite her small stature, she was remarkably efficient in her tasks. He watched her carefully carrying water and tending to the delicate plants before finally calling out, “Little Qi, come here.”
Hearing his familiar voice, Yue’er turned around, her face lighting up with a bright smile as she saw her master standing nearby. She immediately put down the watering can and hurried over to him. “Master, why are you here?”
“If I hadn’t come, were you planning to continue watering these precious spirit herbs in such an inefficient manner?” He shook his head gently, a hint of amusement mixed with helplessness in his eyes. “You are a cultivator, Little Qi. When performing such tasks, you must learn to utilize your spirit energy. Whether you are watering flowers or trees, a simple watering technique will suffice to properly moisten these spirit herbs.”
As he spoke, he slowly formed an elegant hand seal. The water in the nearby bucket surged upwards, defying gravity. As the final part of the seal was completed, the water instantly transformed into a gentle, fine rain that cascaded softly over the entire spirit field.
“See? Just like that,” he said, turning to the little girl beside him. Her eyes were wide with astonishment, a sight that he couldn’t help but find endearing.
“Master, why didn’t you teach me this spell earlier? I’ve been watering them by hand for days!” Her initial surprise quickly gave way to playful reproach. She smiled sweetly and tugged on his sleeve. “Master, master, teach me again! I haven’t quite grasped it yet!”
Without a word, the Azure Emperor turned and began to walk away, saying simply, “Follow me!” He led her at a leisurely pace to a cascading waterfall nestled at the back of the mountain.
“Practice here,” he instructed, handing her a thin, worn book. “Furthermore, there is a set of specific body movements that you must learn diligently.” He pointed to the book. “You must study and practice until you can walk across the surface of this waterfall without your boots even getting damp before you are permitted to learn anything else.”
“Mmm, Little Qi understands!” She replied with a determined smile, eagerly taking the book and beginning to flip through its pages, her curiosity already piqued.
