Chapter 4702: Guesses

For many, the dream of ascending to the Upper Immortal Realm is a powerful one, driven by the desire for extended life, perhaps even to live as long as the heavens and earth themselves.

However, this aspiration is often tempered by a harsh reality: once they reach this elevated plane, individuals without the backing of a powerful family face significant challenges. They are often relegated to joining a major sect as a mere disciple or attaching themselves to a powerful figure, becoming a subordinate with limited autonomy.

This precarious existence means that, without strong support, their lives in the Upper Immortal Realm are easily extinguished. It is this grim prospect that often deters even the most ambitious, forcing them to suppress their longing for ascension.

In stark contrast, those born in the Upper Immortal Realm begin their lives with an inherent advantage. They start from a higher point, often inheriting status and influence rather than earning it. While they may not possess formidable individual strength, their family’s power is often enough to allow them to navigate their world with arrogance and impunity. For rulers from other realms, even those who wield immense power in their own domains, the situation is different. When confronted by a thousand-year-old clan in the Upper Immortal Realm, they often find themselves in a position where endurance, rather than direct confrontation, is their only viable option, regardless of their personal might.

“Alas, I truly hope that the Ghost Doctor can become the supreme ruler of the world,” one monarch sighed, looking up at the sky with his arms folded behind his back. “That would indeed be a good thing for all of us.” He continued, his voice tinged with concern, “Given that there are powerful entities in the Upper Immortal Realm who wish to prevent Feng Jiu’s ascension, her journey will likely be fraught with extreme danger. Should anything go awry, she might suffer a fate similar to Xuanyuan Mo Ze.”

Just as their conversation reached this point, the resounding crash of the third bolt of lightning tribulation echoed, swiftly followed by an eerie silence. The air, charged with anticipation moments before, now hung still.

“Considering the Ghost Doctor’s vengeful nature,” another monarch interjected, a glimmer of anticipation in his eyes, “those above had better pray that she fails to ascend. Because if she makes it up there, she will undoubtedly unleash chaos in the Immortal Realm. It’s difficult to predict whether those powerful figures will be able to cling to their positions once she arrives!” His words carried a mixture of warning and almost gleeful expectation, highlighting the potential disruption Feng Jiu could bring.

Meanwhile, in a completely different world, Feng Jiu emerged from an alchemy room. She had clearly spent a considerable amount of time within, as her clothes were covered in medicinal residue, giving her a somewhat dishevelled appearance. Yet, despite her untidy state, her eyes remained remarkably clear, their light captivating and sharp.

“Congratulations, Master, on the completion of the divine medicinal pill!” Leng Hua, Du Fan, and the others, who had been patiently waiting outside the courtyard, rushed forward to offer their felicitations. Their faces were alight with unbridled joy. Their master had been preparing for this momentous task since emerging from seclusion three months prior. The preparation of the intricate medicinal herbs alone had consumed two months, and the refinement of this particular batch of pills had taken a full month of dedicated effort.

“Is there any news about what I asked you to investigate?” Feng Jiu inquired, her gaze falling upon Du Fan and the others, her voice betraying a hint of urgency.

“Yes, Master, we already have some crucial clues,” Du Fan responded promptly. “We were waiting for you to come out to report. However, a few days ago, Luo Yu and Gu Mo went to confirm the information. They will send word back as soon as they have definitive news.”

Hearing this, Feng Jiu’s expression subtly shifted, a flicker of something unreadable passing through her clear eyes. She nodded and instructed, “Come to the study and tell me everything in detail.”

“Yes,” Du Fan affirmed, ready to follow her command.

“Master, I have already ordered someone to prepare a bath for you,” Leng Shuang interjected, her voice gentle and considerate. “Please return to your room and bathe first!”

“Mm,” Feng Jiu replied, a soft acknowledgment, and then turned, making her way towards the main courtyard.

After a refreshing bath and changing into a clean set of clothes, Feng Jiu consumed a light meal before heading directly to the study.

“Master,” Du Fan greeted her, bowing respectfully as she entered, then followed her into the quiet room.

“How did you find out?” Feng Jiu asked, settling herself at the desk, her focus immediately shifting to the investigation.

“It’s in the East Sea Spirit Realm,” Du Fan began, providing the details. “Every three months, the sea water there experiences a significant stirring, and during this time, high-ranking spirit beasts can be observed kneeling and howling around the sea area. This unusual commotion has attracted a great deal of attention. When the news reached us, Luo Yu and Gu Mo went to check it out first. The reason is that any place where all beasts collectively kneel must surely be the location of ancient divine beasts. Moreover, the East Sea Spirit Realm is specifically where the Green Dragon is said to go to sea. Based on all these converging clues, we surmised that Hell’s Lord might indeed be there.”
