"Child, You don't need to apologize for your curiosity," Elder Zaff said with a kind smile before giving Alex a nod and vanishing like a ghost.
Andrei let out a sigh of relief as he relaxed his tense shoulders, his face pale, eyes reflecting a mix of relief and fear, while Venedikt was looking toward Alex, his eyes reflecting a plethora of emotions.
"Welcome to the Malefis Domain," Alex said, his words resonating in the empty chamber.
"What is this place?" Venedikt mumbled, clearly shaken by the whole experience.
"I know of a good hotel that serves a unique and flavorful dish, and while we enjoy our meal, I will tell you about the Malefis Domain," Alex said before walking toward the exit.
(Thirty Minutes Later)
Alex, Venedikt, and Andrei were seated in a cozy private chamber of the dwarven hotel, with rich wooden beams and meticulously carved furniture filling the space with the charm of rare materials. Every detail celebrated the artistry of dwarven craftsmanship, creating an atmosphere of timeless elegance and warmth.
"This Braised Ruhetil Dear was fantastic, but this Glasheale Tea is even better," Alex said, pouring everyone another cup of misty red tea.
"Boss, You must hold an extraordinary status in this domain," Andrei said after drinking his tea in a single gulp.
"I know you guys have many questions about how I can come to this special hidden continent that no outsider could enter, how I can make other people enter the domain, what my status is, and more and more,"
"Answers to all of these questions are not important, so do not think about them, but if you still want to get those answers, then I will tell you guys everything when you won't be affected by them," Alex said as he raised his cup of tea with a smile.
"I don't want these answers, and I don't even know why you are trusting me so much to reveal such groundbreaking secrets,"
"If those hungry wolves and titans from the real world found out about the secrets you have told us, they would be hunting you down both in the game and the real world,"
"I don't understand if you are a genius or just blindly overconfident in your ability to know a person's character," Venedikt said, with a vary smile on his face.
"I will tell you about myself, and after that, you can tell me what your opinion is about us," Venedikt said after he gave his brother a head nod, who just smiled in reply.
'Is he going to tell me about his father?' Alex thought, looking at Venedikt, closing his eyes as he took a deep breath.
"I don't have special secrets like you, and even my best achievement in this changing world is being a member of the Shadow Oblivion organization and earning a grand salary of a hundred thousand gold coins,"
"In the real world, I'm labeled as the son of a traitor, a belief I don't accept as true, but I must live in that reality because that is the perception in the eyes of everyone else,"
"I live in kabardino-balkaria, a republic of Russia."
"My father's name is Slavik Makarov, an orphan taken from the streets at a young age and raised in some military camp to be a weapon. He spent his whole life getting forged into a soldier, and ten years ago, he held a high post in a special military unit."
"Ten years ago, he was sent to an unknown country on a mission, but there he killed his team of ten individuals and ran away with important military information,"
"On that very day, All of our property, house, and even every penny in my mother and father's accounts was taken while we were labeled as the family of a traitor,"
"We moved to a remote mountainous rural area where my grandfather owned some land. However, news about our family and our father's actions quickly spread, leading to constant mockery, physical attacks, and enduring numerous hardships that have persisted from then until now." Venedikt said and kept looking at Alex's unchanging expression, and after moments of silence, he continued.
"I believe that my father is innocent simply because my mother believed it, but I do not have even an excuse to defend my father because I don't even remember him,"
"I haven't lived a very nice life, and I have done crimes in my life, and even in this changing world, I sold myself as a slave to make a living,"
"I don't trust anyone, have never done in the last ten years, and I don't feel for anyone besides my family. I don't have any friends, nor do I plan to make,"
"I didn't tell you my story to gain some sympathy but to give you an idea of the kind of person my brother and I are, to tell you if you believe that we will be your dear friends, then the answer is No,"
"But will we work to the bone for you and stand beside you against the world? The answer is Yes," Venedikt said, keeping eye contact with Alex as he waited for his response.
'This insensitive bastard told me about his past that he held from me for two years even after we vowed to be brothers forever in my previous life,' Alex thought, a smile unconsciously spreading on his face.
Alex was well aware of Venedikt's father's situation and knew that Venedikt's father, Sir Slavik, was innocent.
The real culprit was his second-in-command from his task force, who had betrayed the country, committed the murders of his companions, including that of Sir Slavik, and had faked his own death while framing the blame on a deceased individual.
The person belonged to a wealthy and highly influential family in Russia, and four and half years from now, that family would be found guilty of many crimes by the authorities, and it would be then that Sir Slavik's name would be cleared and he would be given the honor and respect he deserved.
'Brother, In this life, it won't take four and half years, and the Ivanovich family wouldn't just experience the light punishment they did in my previous life,' Alex thought, remembering the tear-drenched faces of his brothers.
"That's good enough for me," Alex said as he extended his hand forward.
Venedikt did not say anything, and with a sigh of relief, he accepted Alex's handshake, and even though no words were spoken, a moral agreement was made.
"Let's get going. I have a gift prepared for Andrei, and I also need to tell you about your new role and my plans," Alex said as he stood, finishing his tea in a single gulp.
"Boss, what is the gift?" Andrei asked as he swiftly stood up.
"Sir, If you have prepared a contract, then we can sign it right now," Venedikt said while quickly tapping his brother's arm.
"You should address me as Alex, and I like Andrei's openness, so keep it like that. As for the contract, the one you signed to join the organization is good enough," Alex said as he walked toward the exit.
