MMORPG: Rise of the Primordial Godsmith
Chapter 1484 - 1484: Myriad Prodigies: Upgrading the Armor (1)“…Probably not,” replied Ataraxia after giving it a bit of thought. “Remember how long it took you to upgrade one of the weapons you crafted to Legendary grade?”
“Of course I do.” Valyr wryly smiled at those words, the exact memory the young man was talking about popping up in his mind. “I literally spent over half a month on that thing, the longest I’ve taken to forge something. How could I forget?”
“However, think about the circumstances I was in back then,” he said after that, the gears in his mind turning.
“I was only at the peak of Rank 3 when I made it. Not only that, but the main class I had at that time was still Mythic grade, not the Ancient grade one I have right now.”
“Add on the additional titles, skills, and stats that I’ve gained after that… don’t you at least think there’s a small chance that it might just be possible?”
Hearing those words, Ataraxia could only remain silent.
Then, with a faint chuckle, he replied, “I still think it’s difficult for you to do the entire armor set in the next three days.”
“But if it’s just a piece or two… then it might just be possible.”
Feeling like the two of them were finally at the same wavelength, Valyr smiled in response as he walked up to the piles of materials he laid out on the floor, as well as the specific armor piece on top of them.
‘Considering that it’s the center piece of the entire armor set, there’s no way I’d be able to upgrade the chestplate to Elder Wyvern tier in just three days,’ he thought to himself, glancing at it for a bit before moving on to the other armor pieces.
Going over each piece one by one, the young man stared at them for a bit while doing a lot of calculations in the background, bringing up the forging process to upgrade each piece in his mind in the process.
‘The greaves would take a similar amount of time as the chestplate… same goes for the helmet.’
‘The boots would also take a significant amount of time since I’ll have to make sure the forging process for both are exactly the same.’
“…In the end, that only leaves me with the pauldrons or the vambraces,” muttered Valyr at some point, staring at the two pieces of armor for a bit as he pondered over which of the two would be a better first upgrade for the armor set.
Surprisingly, the answer he got to… was neither.
“Ah, fuck it. I’ll just do the pauldrons first.”
With that, the young man decided not to think about it any further, instead choosing to grab one of them solely through his gut instinct.
Whoosh!
Conjuring a few pairs of translucent arms through [Ephemeral Limbs of the First Blacksmith], Valyr went ahead and took out the Hammer of Beginnings from his spatial bracelet as he lit the furnace.
Bringing the pile of materials needed to upgrade the pauldrons closer to the anvils, he then began to separate them in terms of processing time.
“…I’ll place the Elder Wyvern Scales first since they take the longest to get up to temperature.”
Following the order list he had in mind, Valyr went ahead and chucked some of the materials into the furnace after making sure that it had reached his desired temperature.
Keeping an eye on how the heat interacted with the materials he put in, the young man then proceeded to put more and more materials into it, only to take out some of them after some time.
Ttang! Ttang! Ttang!
Making use of his extra arms during the forging process, he went ahead and controlled his other arms to grab the materials that had reached their optimal temperature before proceeding to process it.
At the same time, he continued to place more materials into the furnace, stopping around three hours later once all of the materials making up the pile had been placed into it.
“Now, all that’s left is to wait and process it all,” muttered the young man, his focus now shifting towards the materials he was processing.
Ttang! Ttang! Ttang!
With his extra pairs of arms acting as a round of preliminary refinement, Valyr took over the part that would allow the full properties of the materials to stand out, making use of both his ocular skills and hammering skills to do so.
“[Zen: First Lotus Step].”
At some point, he activated the skill that allowed him to focus even further during the entire forging process, which synergized greatly with the Intent he activated from the very start.
Ttang! Ttang! Ttang!
With him having mostly memorized the guide he needed to follow, as well as the setting of the workshop he was in, it only took half a day for Valyr to process all of the materials needed for the upgrade, which caused Ataraxia to raise his eyebrow in interest.
“…Haah.”
Taking a short break to recuperate both his stamina and mental strength for the actual upgrade, Valyr requested one of the guild’s staff to bring a hearty meal for both of them, only to then swiftly devour his portion once it arrived.
“…Slow down a bit, will you?” Savoring each bite of his own meal, Ataraxia looked back at him with slight concern. “Are you really trying to get yourself to choke on some food?”
“…I’m sure you can feel it too.” Valyr shook his head, sharing some of the thoughts running in his mind between them. “The path that would let me upgrade it to Elder Wyvern Armor.”
“Plus, aren’t you here to savor the food for me?” He slightly smiled after that.
Closing his eyes in response to the thoughts Valyr sent to him, Ataraxia went over them one by one, gradually understanding what he was trying to do to speed up the forging process.
By the time he opened his eyes once more, he looked back at him with a solemn expression, only to then swiftly devour the remainder of his meal in just a few bites.
“…?” Taking note of the sudden change in Ataraxia’s actions, Valyr looked back at him in slight confusion as he inwardly asked him what was going on.
In response, the young man remained silent, walking up to the set of pauldrons he was planning to work on.
“[Sight of Arcane Origin].”
Whoosh!
Bringing the pauldrons closer to him, Ataraxia went ahead and activated the skill he had gained from his class evolution, causing his vision to transform into various strands of various colors.
Focusing his attention on the pauldrons, the young man soon smiled once he noticed how the strands making up the armor piece looked crooked and uneven.
Sharing his senses to Valyr through their shared thoughts, Ataraxia soon let out a slight chuckle.
“I think… I can help.”
