Chapter 1549: Unexpected AssistanceChapter 1549: Unexpected Assistance
Whoosh!
Watching the two disappear in front of their very eyes, Adam and Eve blankly stared at where the duo previously stood for a bit before letting out a massive sigh of relief.
“That was a close one,” said Eve, sitting on the ground as she let her body relax.
“Yeah.” Adam nodded in agreement. “Who knew they’d come to that conclusion from just one skill?”
“I mean…” Eve slightly shrugged his shoulders. “If you put yourself in their shoes, their thought process makes a lot of sense.”
“Find out one of the skills you’re using works on the other universe, then there’s a high chance that there will come a time where all of your skills will work on the other universe as well.”
“And that’s a part of His project, right?” asked Adam, looking back at Eve for clarification.
“I think?” Eve scratched the back of her head in response. “As far as I remember, He plans to have some of the concepts in this universe become widespread in the Desolate Universe to make the integration easier.”
“Ah, right.” Finally recalling the specific bit of information thanks to Eve’s explanation, Adam nodded at her words in return.
Then, conjuring a soundproof barrier around them, he continued, “And we’re planning to make use of this part to our advantage, right?”
“We’ll have to wait first for Ataraxia to awaken some of this universe’s properties back in the Desolate Universe,” said Eve, only to nod soon after. “But yes. Only then will everything go smoothly in the end.”
Whoosh!
With his curiosities satisfied, Adam went ahead and dispelled the barrier surrounding them, prompting the two to stand up as they decided to go back to what they were doing before.
“You think the other Administrators caught wind of this yet?” he casually asked, looking at Eve with a slightly raised eyebrow.
“Pretty sure Two and the others haven’t even taken notice of what we’re doing,” said the latter after giving it a bit of thought. “I’m not sure about One, though. She could have already caught wind of what we’re doing but hasn’t said anything about it.”
“How about Zero, then?”
Just as those words left Adam’s mouth, the two immediately felt a presence appear behind them.
Turning around to look at who the presence was, both Adam and Eve immediately shuddered in slight fear.
After all, the being that appeared behind them was none other than the Zero Adam just mentioned.
“What were you two talking about?” With a monstrously wide grin on his face, Zero looked at the two with a piercing gaze. “What made you two decide to call out for me?”
“We… were just wondering what you were doing.” Suppressing the fear they felt towards the young-looking man before them, Adam and Eve forced smiles on their faces as they responded to Zero’s question. “Yeah… just that.”
“Is that so…?” Zero tilted his head, only for the grin on his face to widen even further.
“Then why did I hear you two talking about the Desolate Universe just earlier?”
Hearing those words, both Adam and Eve immediately felt cold. For that brief moment, the two of them felt like they were staring at the pits of the deepest and coldest hells.
However, just as they thought they’d be admonished by the second highest ranking Administrator for their actions, the words that came out of Zero’s mouth next left them at a slight loss for words.
“…Not saying anything?”
“…And here I thought I’d be able to help you two out.”
“That’s… huh…?” Not expecting those words to come from Zero, it took a while for Adam and Eve to come back to their senses.
Though, once they did, the two took in a deep breath before looking back at the young-looking man with both curiosity and doubt. “Are… are you serious?”
Zero looked back at the two with slight annoyance. “If I wasn’t, would I have brought the matter up with you two?”
“Well…” In response, Adam and Eve looked at each other for a bit before looking back at him. “You’ve already brought up a lot of matters in the past… even though you didn’t want any part in it.”
“As far as we remember, you said you did it because you want to break the monotony the Administrators were experiencing…”
“…Ehem.” Feeling as if he was caught red-handed, a faint blush suffused Zero’s cheeks as he let out a slight cough. “This time, it’s different. I assure you two.”
“I’ll even swear on my Primordial Edict if you want.”
Hearing that, the two of them did not hesitate to ask Zero to do so, to which the latter did not mind.
Rumble…
Feeling the structure they were in quake in response to the oath Zero swore, the two went ahead and checked with the authority to see if the man’s oath was true.
After confirming that his oath was indeed serious, it was only then did Adam and Eve finally relax.
“Now are you two finally willing to tell me what you two were talking about earlier?” Watching the two let out wide sighs of relief, Zero took the opportunity to bring the topic of the conversation back to what he wanted to know.
Looking at each other once more, Adam and Eve soon nodded at each other, which prompted the two to give the man a rough but concise explanation of what they were planning.
Of course, being wary of the possibility that the man would betray them at some point, they omitted a couple important pieces of information during their explanation.
“I see.” Oblivious to this omission, Zero looked back at the two with a slight glint in his eyes. “And you’re hoping to push the integration of the two universes forward… for what reason…?”
“For the sake of the inheritor of the Sagacious One’s will,” replied Eve, her tone somewhat solemn. “Out of all the beings to inherit his will thus far, the one we’ve interacted with has been the closest to fulfilling his last wish.”
“You mean…?” At those words, Zero’s eyes widened in curiosity.
Then, seeing the two nod back at his words, his eyes widened even further, this time with excitement.
Clenching his fists in response, the man then gave the two a look of assurance. “I don’t know if you two need any help with the inheritor, but what I can definitely do is make sure that neither Aein nor Lilith catches wind of what we’re doing. Ever.”
“If I can’t even do that… then I wouldn’t be called Ain’sof.”
