My Celestial Ascension

Chapter 749 - 749: Passing Through The City

Aisha immediately cast her magic on the letter, and it transformed into a paper bird before flying off in the direction of the Lionheart Empire at an extraordinarily fast speed. It would take about thirty minutes for the letter to reach its destination—this was the fastest method available to contact someone in their world.

Once the letter was sent, Vanessa finally felt at ease, knowing that Philip would now have enough time to prepare his army for the coming war. However, she wasn’t too worried about the war itself, as Yuan had already said he would personally participate.

With his strength, ending the war within a few hours would be simple for him. But since the Lionheart Empire needed to uphold its honor and reputation, he had decided to join the fight a bit later.

Vanessa turned to Aisha with a grateful smile and said, “Thank you for your great assistance, Aisha. You have no idea how much of a help you’ve been to me.”

“There’s no need to thank me, Lady Vanessa. After all, we’re family, and family helps one another,” Aisha replied with a soft chuckle and a warm smile.

“But still, you can’t deny that what you’ve done for me is incredibly important.”

“Indeed,” Aisha nodded with a smile. Then she asked, “By the way, what’s Yuan doing right now? Is he busy with something?”

“No,” Vanessa replied with a smile. “He’s just pampering Anna and Grace, as always. As for the others, most of them are simply enjoying their free time.”

She continued, “Valeria is currently meditating to clear her mind. And Emma is studying a new martial technique—one that’s supposed to be quite powerful.”

“I see… I’ve never heard of martial techniques before. They must be something extraordinary,” Aisha mumbled softly, her curiosity piqued, though she managed to keep her expression composed.

“By the way, Lady Vanessa, do you happen to know what kind of technique a martial technique is? I’m very curious—I hope you’ll quench my thirst for knowledge,” Aisha said with a smile, looking Vanessa directly in the eyes.

“Well, I don’t know a great deal about those things, since I only recently became a cultivator. But I’ll try to explain what I do know about martial techniques,” Vanessa said, taking a deep breath and offering a gentle smile in return.

Vanessa then began explaining what little she understood about cultivation and martial techniques to Aisha, keeping her explanation brief so it wouldn’t become boring or overly time-consuming.

Meanwhile, Emma opened her eyes, having successfully learned the Dragon Twisting Fist, and was so overjoyed that she immediately leaped toward Yuan and hugged him tightly.

“Well, it seems you’ve finished learning the technique. Incredible,” Anna said with a soft smile as she watched Emma cling to Yuan with such enthusiasm.

“That’s right. I want to test this new technique as soon as possible, but I’ll wait until the war begins. After all, there’s nothing more fun than crushing the enemy’s confidence with sheer power,” Emma said with a wide grin, nodding slightly at Anna.

“That’s a wonderful way of thinking. Let’s use the Holy Light Empire’s armies as our target practice. That’ll make sure their will to fight shatters completely,” Yuan replied with a grin, locking eyes with Emma.

“Indeed. That would be interesting to watch,” Grace added, a cold grin forming on her face as she looked forward to the looming battle between the Holy Church and the Lionheart Empire.

Suddenly, Yuan remembered the two Angels he had seen in the Holy Church through his Divine Sense. His curiosity about them stirred once again.

“By the way, there’s something very important I forgot to tell you all,” Yuan suddenly said, and his voice drew immediate attention. His wives turned toward him with confused expressions.

“What is it? Tell us quickly,” Lily asked, her eyes filled with curiosity.

Anna and Grace also looked puzzled as they waited for him to explain, their attention fixed on him.

“I saw two unusual beings in the Holy Church with my Divine Sense. One was a beautiful woman, the other a male. They had majestic white wings on their backs,” Yuan said, pausing to observe their reactions. “And the Pope was addressing them as ‘Angels,’ the envoys of the Goddess of Light and Justice.”

The room fell silent for a moment as everyone stared in shock.

They had heard about angels in history books and legends, but none of them had ever seen one—or believed they truly existed in this world. The revelation was deeply shocking.

No one had expected the Holy Church to be connected to angels—let alone have two fighting for their cause.

From what Yuan could gather, these two Angels might be the Church’s trump card—their path to victory over the Lionheart Empire. And it was entirely possible that the two really were envoys of the so-called Goddess.

‘So, those two will be your trump cards, huh? Very well, I’m quite curious about these angels. Let’s see how strong they truly are…’ Yuan thought, a sly grin forming on his face. From what he knew about the angels, after the war against the Evil God—who was the creator of the corrupted creatures—the angels had disappeared from the world, never to be seen again. However, now there were two angels on the Holy Church’s side. He was deeply curious about where the angels had gone, and why they had chosen to appear again now. What could have made them return? Was the Holy Church responsible for their disappearance from the world? A flood of questions filled his mind as he pondered the mystery.

“This is hard to believe… that the Holy Church has angel-like mighty beings on their side… This war may be worse than any in history,” Mireya mumbled, dazed and speechless.

“Indeed. I don’t know how this war will end or what the final outcome will be. Both sides will lose countless men. So many families will be destroyed…” Leah added, her voice heavy with emotion as she recalled the death of her own family.

She continued, “I don’t want anyone to experience something like that… but I can’t stop this war. The Holy Church won’t back down, no matter what.”

“Indeed. If we want to end this war, we must take down the key figures of the Holy Church and destroy it completely,” Yuan said with a nod and a heavy sigh.

He didn’t want to act yet—after all, Emperor Philip had a reputation to uphold. If Yuan interfered now, it would damage the Emperor’s prestige. The Emperor must defend his empire with his own hands—but Yuan would fight beside him to end the war quickly, without harming the Lionheart Empire’s honor.

“However, the Holy Church has already sealed its fate by becoming my enemy… They should have known better,” Yuan muttered in a low voice as a terrifying killing intent erupted from his body. But he quickly suppressed it, as the Holy Church’s army was about to pass through the city, and he didn’t want to attract attention just yet.

An hour later, the Holy Church’s army did pass through the city, and many were shocked by its overwhelming numbers. In addition, they had cannons and magical beasts within their ranks.

“Is the war about to start? I can’t believe this is really happening!”

“This time, the Lionheart Empire is done for. With such a massive force, the Holy Church will crush the Empire for sure!”

“Indeed. It would be a piece of cake for the Holy Church to defeat the Lionheart Empire. After all, the Holy Church is a force that cannot be defeated by anyone!”

As the massive army began to pass through the city, people watched the marching soldiers and couldn’t help but feel excited. It had been a while since such a massive war had broken out, and most of the people were followers of the Holy Church. All those who supported the Holy Church immediately began praying for victory against the Lionheart Empire and for the soldiers’ safety, offering their prayers to the Goddess.

Yuan and his wives observed the scene from the palace, and for a split second, the female angel Selvariel turned her gaze toward the palace from inside the luxurious carriage she was riding in.

‘Was someone staring at me? But that’s impossible! No one should be able to see through the carriage’s defense… I must be imagining things,’ Selvariel thought as she discarded the feeling.

Valtheriel, noticing the strange look on Selvariel’s face, raised his brows. He became curious as to why she suddenly seemed so tense.

“What is it? Did you sense something dangerous?” Valtheriel asked with a puzzled expression as he looked at her, awaiting an answer.

“No. I’m just excited for the war. After all, I’ll finally get a chance to crush some bugs,” Selvariel responded, a cold grin appearing on her face.

“I see…” Valtheriel looked at her for a couple of seconds before nodding in response.

Meanwhile, Emperor Lucien was also staring at the massive army from the palace balcony, from where he could see the entire city. It had always been a beautiful sight—until now, with the Holy Church’s army darkening the view.

“Such a huge army… They truly intend to destroy the Lionheart Empire, all because of their greed for power,” Emperor Lucien mumbled in a low voice, feeling a lump rise in his throat.

At the same time, back in the Lionheart Empire, Emperor Philip received the letter sent by Vanessa. Upon reading its contents, his expression froze.

‘T-This can’t be…’ Emperor Philip stared at the letter, eyes wide open in disbelief.

Empress Selena, who was standing nearby, noticed the sudden change in her husband’s expression and immediately grew concerned. But when she looked at the letter herself, her eyes also widened, and her expression turned cold and stiff.

“What?! The Holy Church has started moving?! Those arrogant fools!” Empress Selena roared after reading the letter, her voice filled with fury toward the Holy Church.
